Deck Description

This is my latest tweaking of my FNM deck, the Orzhov Midrange. Previous evolutions can be found here:

The biggest change in my opinion is the removal of athreos and the return of the bestow creatures.

4-1 FNM — Aug. 4, 2014
I went 4-1 at FNM on 7/25 good for 4th place. the only deck I lost to was a BUG control splashing red for Xenagod. My goal now is to find a way to deal with aggro as that is really my only troubling matchup atm. I find myself taking 10-15 damage in the face before I end up stabilizing (if I can) when playing decks like mono-red or boros heroic ( akroan crusader + madcap skills ftw lol). I don't have anything atm to do before turn 3 really, as [[spiteful returned]] is infinitely more valuable with bestow then a 1/1 blocker. any suggestions here would be appreciated, as I feel that if I can overcome this obstacle, the deck will be a solid contender even if I went beyond FNM. Searching through 1-2 drops of B/W standard, I think I am going to test out high priest of penance.

Continued testing — Aug. 7, 2014

High Priest of PenanceMTG Card: High Priest of Penance has tested well in the deck so I decided to go ahead and take out Spiteful ReturnedMTG Card: Spiteful Returned in favor of finishing the playset of priests. I've been thinking for awhile now that spiteful is more of a win more card in this deck rather than something that actually helps you get to that point, whereas priest can be a huge stall in the early game and a big turn around in the late game. Not to mention this brings my total enchantment count (including enchantment creatures) down to just 8, which is good, considering stuff like Back to NatureMTG Card: Back to Nature is a thing now. Also, im considering taking out 1 Blood Baron of VizkopaMTG Card: Blood Baron of Vizkopa to sideboard and testing out a Soul of Theros

-2 Spiteful ReturnedMTG Card: Spiteful Returned

+2 High Priest of PenanceMTG Card: High Priest of Penance

How to Play

Bringing out big threats every turn to create an imposing board presence while demolishing your opponents board with spot removal and forced sacrifice. There are plenty of ways to gain life to either help stabalize from a bad situation or just increase your lead. Pump up creatures they can't block with bestow, or play them as creatures to swarm them with more than they can handle.
