Deck Description

This is a fun deck to play in Multiplayer.

It plays underwhelming threats plus cards that help my opponent.

If I am not playing any threats and seem like a push over PLUS I am playing cards that actually help my opponent...I have a good chance at being ignored...until I can pull out a perfectly timed Insurrection or Fireball.

How to Play

Here is how I plan on Winning:

1) Play cards that benefit my opponents. Weird, huh? The thought behind this logic is that if I am using cards that benefit everyone and make the game interesting...people will not want to kill me.

Cards that my opponent's will love me for:
Mana Flare, doubles their mana!
Howling Mine, they get to draw 2 cards every turn!
Time Spiral, they get to draw 7 cards!

Who is going to want to kill me if I am doubling everyone's mana and letting them draw 2 cards every turn?

*********************************************************************************

2) Do not make myself look like a threat.

I only have 4 creatures in the entire deck. I steal a creature here or there with Treachery and/or Bribery. I steal a permanent here or there with Take Possession. I copy and redirect a spell, here or there, with Reverberate. Slowly build up and manipulate the board while your opponent's are worried about killing each other. Slowly steal their best stuff and Reverberate spells to best help you out. Never attack!! Always help other weaker players so that they may be appreciate you and not hurt you.

*********************************************************************************

3) Cards like Reverberate and Maze of Ith and Treachery and Bribery and Take Possession can make you friends! Think about it...one of your opponent's getting his butt kicked by another opponent's creature? Play Maze of Ith and save him. Now you just made a friend! Opponent A can't do anything because Opponent B has something like Propaganda/Ensnaring Bridge on the board? Simple, steal it with Take Possession. Now Opponent A can attack Opponent B. You just made yourself seem valuable! One of your opponents burning someone who is about to die? Cast Reverberate back on the guy playing burn, to chill him out. And yep, you just made another friend.

*********************************************************************************

4) When most of your opponent's have destroyed each other...and you are only facing 1 or 2 people left...and you have silently built up a small army by stealing the best stuff each of your opponent's have...mana ramp (Mana Flare) into a huge Fireball or mana ramp into a Insurrection.

Good game :)

Suggestions are welcomed!

The 3 cards to look at are:
Mana Flare
Howling Mine
Insurrection

Mana Flare and Howling Mine is what is going to make your opponent's not want to kill you. Actually, some of them may love you for playing both of those cards.

Insurrection is brutal. Go look back up and see what it does. It is brutal in Multiplayer games! It steals all creatures...even if you are playing 4 other people, it will get you all of their creatures. We are talking 20+ creatures you get to steal for one turn.
It wins games when you play it.

Some cards I would like to see:
Cyclonic Rift - So damn versatile and can help the board if you are getting overrun
Blatant Thievery - How about taking something from everybody
War Tax or Propaganda - How about making them pay mana for attacking you
Rhystic Study - ALways a good add to get additional cards
Spelljack - One of the best counters in the game
Desertion - One of the best counters in the game

If you main win con is Insurrection, I would add Fabricate to find it.
I might also add a sacrifice outlet to be able to attack with all of their creatures and then sacrifice them so they don't get them back. Something like Ashnods Altar (which helps get you mana to finish them with a massive fireball).

Some cards I would remove:
Reverberate - Not as useful with the Instants and Sorceries you have
Time Spiral - you only need 1 copy of this
Take Possession - Too expensive, I would go with Control Magic to take a creature or Confiscate to grab a permanent.

Will definitely look into these cards:.
Will say this about Reverberate...it was meant to copy other people's spells. Does it not work like that?

No it does, but you might find some other gems from the above cards you like better.

Again, will look at them when I get a chance.
Currently going back to college...tired of factory work.
Graduated 2 year degree 8 years ago...never found a job...so had to end up breaking my back doing factory work for the last 7 years.
Was killing myself. So, going back to (online) college.
Between that and raising several kids...it doesn't leave me much time for anything else.

I don't think you can do something like this these days ... Magic has evolved and the cards got better, creatures do crazy stuff these days and creatures/spells that cost 7+ are truly game enders these days.

Only beginners would assume/think you are harmless. First off, if someone plays Mana Flare and/or Howling Mine, everybody automatically assumes you have big plans for it, because, why risk playing them? There is only one deck in our group that runs Howling Mines and it bases on Underworld Dreams and Black Vise. And we have only one deck that runs Mana Flares - a deck with Future Sight and cards that untap lands which aim it is to cast Time Walk after Time Walk (Time Warp, Walk the Aeons etc.). So, if someone drops a Mine of Flare, everybody with some experience will assume something nasty will follow.

But lets say they believe you. Let's say they know your deck. Even then - Mana Flare and Howling Mine are cards that experienced players won't allow to stay in the game. Think about it, some players will benefit more from them than others. The Weenie player will love the Mine but doesn't need the Flare. The Eldrazi deck loves the Flare but doesn't need the Mine that much. And the combo player needs both. Which means, Weenie guy's Disenchant target #1 is the Flare, Eldrazi dude will nuke the Mine at first opportunity and actually both would be better off if they could rid of both Flare and Mine because otherwise they'll get combo'ed out faster than they can kill with creatures. They might draw two cards per turn and get double the mana but they still have one attack phase.

------------------------------------

I just wrote that because you asked for our thoughts. Now let's forget what I just wrote and tune this baby, assuming your opponents aren't as experienced:

* Insurrection is good, but it's also expensive, even for this deck. You might need to cast other spells the same turn. Keep the Insurrection, but maybe go down to 2 copies and add Reins of Power. The latter is an instant, so it can also be used defensively.

* Reverberate should be upgraded to Wild Ricochet! If you Reverberate an opposing Death Grasp or something like this, you will still get hit by hit. Or if someone Disenchants your Mine/Flare, you may have forked that Disenchant, but you Mine/Flare is still destroyed. Wild Ricochet is the way to go in this, trust me! You have the mana. It's a gamewinner.

* Fireball is outdated. For this deck, I can see the following:
- Illuminate : Can be used on creatures early on without kicker, later with Mana Flare quite effective. Still expensive.
- Comet Storm : The only thing this can't do is killing a single creature for 2 mana, otherwise it's way better and more flexible than Fireball. My personal favourite.
- Devil's Play : I think the flashback is more useful in this than the ability to split the Fireball (honestly, when was the last time you actually did that?)

* Spire Owl: I think Augury Owl is slightly more useful. It digs one card less deep, but you can hide any cards you don't need at the bottom of your library. Imagine you cast the Owl and your next 4 cards don't hold the mana or card you need - you will most likely lose. If you had fetchlands, Spire Owl may be the right choice.

* Disk : You already run the Disk, which I was about to recommend. Good. Once neat trick with Disk: It actually doesn't kill Planeswalkers. So you could run one yourself. Don't have the time to pick a good one right now, but I would love to see a single Planesawalker as the "chef" if this deck :)

Please have a look at my latest two decks.

Solid advice Puschkin, I forgot about Reins of Power, definitely a solid addition to this deck.

Solid deck for sure, I like it. A few thoughts, seems rough in the early game. I think you could replace a few cards to make you stronger there. Suggested cards to lose Spire Owl, 2 time spiral, one take possession, and one fire ball. This gives you 8 spots for some early game/and or defense. Thoughts: Guard Gomazoa, Fog Bank, Propaganda. I know what your going for with howling mine: but it helps the opponents way to much in my opinion. Again, just an opinion, and you would know better if it worked for you. What about Trade Secrets instead? This gives you and ONE opponent some awesome draw power, and makes you a potential ally.
