Main Deck (61 cards)

Sideboard (15 cards)

Deck Description

Remember landfall? Every time you dropped a land on the table, you reaped extra benefits. Well the constellation mechanic is essentially "enchantfall": each time you cast an enchantment, benefits come to you.

Or in the case of black, penalties come to the opponent....

How to Play

So obviously we want to load up on enchantments. But not just any old enchantments... there's a theme here: deal damage. Sinister Possession and Stab Wound turn the opponent's creatures against them, and Contaminated Ground turns their own lands against them, all stacking up to rack up a LOT of damage quickly. Grim Guardian pings for additional damage each time you play one of those enchantments (while also providing good defense). Blightcaster (a rare non-enchantment in this deck) can finish off more troublesome creatures. Oh, and remember that Brain Maggot is an enchantment too. Mwaha!

The sideboard offers additional copies of a few cards already in the mainboard, more auras that can sap enemy creatures' strength or boost your own, as well as a pair of Garys (and another Whip) if you need lifegain. Also, Fate Unraveler is plenty good on its own, but combos especially nicely with Master of the Feast, turning that big drawback into additional pain for the opponent as well. She's almost a must-add if your opponent has any extra card draw of their own.

I've been having great success in playtesting this. Sure, there are decks it doesn't do as well against, like creature-light control decks and heavy aggro, but even there it's been much more hit than miss. NOBODY sees this sort of thing coming, at least not yet, and the damage really does rack up quick, especially with a couple early Contaminated Grounds and/or Stab Wounds. Try it out and see for yourself!

Deck discussion for Constellation of Pain

I've been toying with the idea of Caustic Tar, for obvious reasons, but it's so expensive (4BB). If I tried to squeeze a couple in (main or sideboard), what should I cut to make room?

Maybe some Bile Blight, Drown in Sorrow or Ulcerate to deal with the aggro

I may have to if it continues to be a problem...probably Bile Blight would be my first choice. Just concerned about thinning down what the deck is really trying to do, but it's not much good if it gets overrun before it can get going!
