Deck Description

I'm feeling inspired to try out a different sort of red deck....

How to Play

It's all about tapping and untapping. Your inspired creatures are obviously the biggest beneficiaries when cards like Crackleburr, Burn Trail, and Burn at the Stake tap them to spread around some serious burnination. And the drawback to Thundermare suddenly becomes no drawback at all when you can tap ALL your inspired creatures at once!

But it doesn't end there, because there's this little phase Wizards went through in Eventide where they experimented with giving creatures abilities that triggered not off of tapping, but UNtapping. Hateflayer and Duergar Mine-Captain are good examples that dish out additional pain with their untapping abilities.

Another fun card is Ashling's Prerogative, and while I left it in the sideboard, the potential it offers is intriguing, to say the least. With the exception of Felhide Spiritbinder, all the creatures you'd want to have tapped (preferably the turn they enter play) have an odd-numbered mana cost (3, or 7 in Hateflayer's case). So name "odd" with Ashling's Prerogative and BOOM, your inspired guys and friends are all ready to go off the next turn rather than having to delay ANOTHER turn for them to take effect. With more playtesting, I may even have to move Prerogative to the mainboard.
