Deck Description

There is grand power in the darkness....

How to Play

Grandeur: one of those fun Future Sight abilities that hasn't gone anywhere...at least, not yet. To date, only one card in each color uses it. But that doesn't mean we can't try building around it!

Black features a legendary Zombie named Korlash, apparently an heir of Dakkon Blackblade. (He carries Dakkon's sword, at least.) Like his predecessor, Korlash's power and toughness are tied to lands...specifically Swamps. And aside from his handy regeneration, his primarily ability is also Swamp-centric:

"Grandeur — Discard another card named Korlash, Heir to Blackblade: Search your library for up to two Swamp cards, put them onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library."

So the theme is made rather obvious for us: Swamps!

First, we start with other cards that benefit from lots of Swamps--Nightmare, Corrupt, etc.--and Liliana of the Dark Realms to keep them coming. And with them continuing to enter play once you get rolling, some landfall fun makes sense, so enter Bloodghast, Surrakar Marauder, and Ob Nixilis.

The rest are some fun interactions. In addition to Bloodghast and Marauder, Gravecrawler can give this deck a nice aggro element...Korlash is a Zombie, remember. And as a Zombie, Lord of the Undead and/or Ghoulcaller's Chant can return Grandeured copies of Korlash to hand to use over and over again. Dimir House Guard is a fine creature, but is really best here as a transmuting tutor for Korlash or Liliana. And with a decent number of creatures with 2 black mana in their cost, plus Liliana and Underworld Connections, you can win out of nowhere with good ol' Gary the Merchant.

The sideboard has a couple more Marauders to pull in if you're not facing black and several more kill spells to supplement or replace the mainboarded Hero's Downfall vs appropriate opponents.

What do you think? What cards might I include to really reap the benefits of all those Swamps hitting the battlefield? Any constructive comments will net you +1 rep points. Thanks in advance!
