Deck Description

This is no illusion...you really ARE getting your face beat in by a blue aggro deck!

How to Play

Blue aggro...the deck that's not really supposed to happen. But here it is, thanks in large part to M12 Illusions.

Cheap little creatures like Phantasmal Bear and Krovikan Mist get the party started, with cheap defender Vertigo Spawn really shutting down early counterattacks. Then come 3- and 4-drops like the unblockable Phantom Warrior and pure beaters like Illusory Angel and Phantasmal Dragon. The real key, though, is the only non-Illusion creature in the deck: Lord of the Unreal. He makes your fragile Illusions stronger AND hexproof, negating the sacrifice drawback of so many of these otherwise undercosted creatures.

Once you get your initial board set up, expand your army by way of cloning. Cackling Counterpart is a nice, repeatable trick for your own creatures, and very thematic Phantasmal Image can clone any creature on the board...as an Illusion. Nifty.

The rest is just counterspells to shut down troublesome creatures, board wipers, or other nasties. Of particular note is Summoner's Bane, which nets your another Illusion to use, and Muddle the Mixture, which can pull double duty as a tutor for Lord of the Unreal early, a Krovikan Mist beatstick later on, or an Image whenever one would be handy.

What do you think? I tried to pick the most powerful Illusions in Modern to make this deck somewhat competitive. Anything you think I missed?

Deck discussion for Illusion, Delusion, Confusion!

Diplomatic Immunity is cheaper than Xenograft, the protection from it is more secure, and the +1/+1 to the Lord isn't really needed as you wouldn't be attacking or blocking with him anyway.

It's also searchable via Muddle the Mixture. linked my illusions if you wanna take a look.

I miss my Chronozoa themed deck. Basically if you can bide your time you exponentially gain more and more of them. I used it mostly for table games because by the time people realized you were a threat you were able to swarm them with chronozoa's in the air and win the game.
