Deck Description

Having some fun with The Chain Veil...in mono white.

How to Play

Going to attempt a series (not sure how long it may be) of decks that utilize the curious Chain Veil. The first one that sort of builds itself is white. There are currently four mono-white planeswalkers in Standard (more than any other single color; blue has three Jaces {LOL...how about some creativity, Wizards?} and each other color has only two mono-colored 'walkers), and they work very well together. The Ajanis boost creatures, and the new Steadfast version also boosts other planeswalker with additional loyalty counters; in conjunction with the Chain Veil, that means you can put at least 3 loyalty counters on any other planeswalker during a single turn! You can easily activate their "ultimate" abilities, especially that of Elspeth, just one turn after they enter play. INSANE!

Anyway, speaking of Elspeth, she and Gideon provide all the offense you'll really need, with Elspeth throwing out tons of little Soldiers and Gideon able to become a massive, hard-to-kill one himself. Soldiers are the secondary theme here, as your few other creatures (including tokens from Raise the Alarm) are Soldiers as well, and can quickly overwhelm many opponents, especially in conjunction with Spear of Heliod and Obelisk of Urd.

Other cards worth mentioning are Ordeal of Heliod (which pairs quite nicely with the +1/+1 counters from the Ajanis for near-instant activation), Heliod himself as yet another wincon as a Cleric token factory, Riot Control and Palisade Giant (both with additional copies in the sideboard) for combating aggro and burn, and Devouring Light (easy to play super cheap or even free with all those tokens) to remove particularly troublesome creatures.

In the sideboard, Banishing Light, Revoke Existence, and Glare of Heresy can provide additional spot removal as needed, Murder Investigation turns one of your boosted creatures into a token factory in case you're facing heavy spot removal from the opponent, and oft-overlooked Court Street Denizen can add some serious aggro potential when you consider the pairing with Raise the Alarm and Elspeth. You can potentially tap out the entire opposing defense without too much trouble and swing in for victory!

Obviously this deck isn't incredibly budget-friendly (because, well...planeswalkers); even I don't own most of the more expensive cards here. But if your wallet can handle it, try it out, as I think this is one of the best ways to utilize the Chain Veil in the current Standard.

Good luck!

Deck discussion for Off the Chain: White

Sweet deck! It's the first deck I've seen that puts good use of The Chain Veil. :)

Thanks! I think I'm going to try green next, but yeah, this is probably going to be the best mono-colored deck. We'll see!
