Deck Description

Livewire Lash needs some recognition, this deck won my FNM last week, tell me how I can make it better.

the point of the deck is to equip the lash to one of your infect creatures then during your attack you can target your creature with your various instants to beef it up or protect it and send two poison counters at your opponent each time you do it.

Deck discussion for Infected Lash

I am guesing that the only reason that you have twisted image in your deck is for the draw ability. The deck would probably run better if you replaced the twisted images with ponder.

well the draw ability is there and important, but it is another card to target the Lash equiped creature, so in many likely secerios, I'm attacking with a glis elf equiped with the livewire lash .... its a 3/1 and gets chumpblocked by a spirit token or a snapcaster mage, I use twised image on my elf and draw a card give my opponent 2 poison counters and keep my creature alive. it happens more than you think

upon further evaluation twisted image doesn't really bleong, your right.

Hunters insight has no reason to be in this deck there is no combat damage so it doesn't. Allow you to draw

Hunters insight DOES allow you to draw even if the combat damage is from a creature with infect... but for a totally different reason I have replaced it in my real life deck with artful dodge

after playing this a few days on MTGO, I made some changes.... Titanic growth is considerably more important than mirran mettle, and rangers guile saves my butt ever single game

caravan vigil and rampant growth are a little underated and maybe you could add a few here

This is kinda an old idea that has been molded to the new cards, I like it. and its cheap too

Does the 2 damage from livewire lash give poison counters?

0
Posted 15 February 2012 at 16:59

It does, because Lash says the creature deals the damage.

A buddy dominates with a U/B version of this, artful dodge would be the main thing I'd add.

yes, artful dodge seems like it would be killer in this one card two mana 4 poison counters plus unblockableness

ok so I'm really impressed with this deck now I played one that was similar to this last night and did not lose one game mine is a little different :

took out-- hunters insight, tezzerets gambit, ichorclaw myr, and unatural predation
added-- artful dodge, plague myr, and blight mamba

Also, gut shot is a fun sideboard--target your creature equipped with the lash, giving them two poison counters.

t1: forest, elf.
t2: land, lash.
t3: island, equip lash. Artful dodge (2 poison), mutagenic growth (2 poison) swing with elf (5 poison), gutshot elf ftw (also works with a second MG).

Wouldn't Inkmoth nexus be good in here? I'm just wondering, but I figure a flying infect that you can buff is always welcome. I realize you can't target it with Livewire, but You won't always have that out and ready. Just a thought

In theory you still could equip it , if just until the end of the turn. Inkmoth is a must, it's won so many games as that little extra damage, it's ridiculous. With or without the equipment, it also can allow you to use unused mana from time to time. Artful dodge is brilliant, well done. I also agree with Shaitan_rahl, number of creatures is teetering low, but with the flying infect lands and maybe a couple of the Necropedes you mentioned earlier might do the trick. Good luck!

Nice deck! I use to run a U/G infect but changed it to Mono green to help with a more consistant mana pull. I run 3 inkmoth nexis and looking for a 4th, but it does great just the way it is. I dont know how to do links but check out my deck Pure Poison to see if you can get any other ideas or even help me improve my deck!

hunters insight could be replaced by any number of cards you are holding that are at three or even 2 because we all know oyu have a better chance of seeing your combos if there isnt that one card in your deck so take it out and try to make a play set of somthing else but over all i like it i hate infect but i like this one i have to give you props

A run a list similar to this but I run GR instead of UG, though I have to admit that I really like yours more than mine haha. Well done.

I used to run a similar deck pre-M12 using Vampire's Bite, Virulent Swipe and Distortion Strike.

UB is probably the better way to go with this, as that gives you access to some removal (including Virulent Wound) as well as much better infectors (Phyrexian Crusader FTW!). You lose out on a lot of pump, but Mutagenic Growth will still get you there, and Undying Evil will help as well.

Inkmoth nexus?

I agree with TazioGiordano. Inkmoth would be a great addition to this deck. Even if u can't buff it with lash, it still hits your opponent for the occasional poison counter whenever u have the spare mana lying around. 4 Inkmoth is a must. Nice deck btw =)

My biggest concern is the number of creatures. With only 10 creatures, that is essentially a one in 6 possibility of each card being what you need. Outside of the ideal hand that you described, you have no way of recovering after turn 3 or 4. And if the opponent has enough removal to lock your creatures down/dead before they can swing.

To that end, Inkmoth Nexus is a great addition as is necropede and another couple of ichor claw rats. I think you can drop unnatural predation, hunter's insight, and possible titanic growth. That still leaves you with 14 combat tricks that target your creatures and you could always bump the tezzerit's gambit count up to accomodate for the decrease in draw ability.

I think Shaitan is right here. Inkmoth is a must in a deck like this; that extra infect-flyer is incredibly useful when you have so few creatures. I also think he's right about adding more creatures, though instead of Necropede, I'd say more Ichorclaw Myrs. Same mana cost, and much more dangerous to blocking creatures, although Necropede does have the advantage of assigning that -1/-1 counter to a creature of your choice rather than having all the infect go to some chump 1/1.

Either way, I love the deck idea. I'll be looking into building one of my own, since I'm not using my infect cards elsewhere and the deck is so cheap to make.

What is the vapor snag for? Why not use unsummon? My arguement being that your not doing damage and you might target your own creatures. Otherwise I like the deck and play something similar.

Hey just got back from an FNM and played a variant of this deck that kicked @$$, I didn't make top 8 but it was awesome wrecking peoples faces. Every match up was either 2-0 or 1-2 and it was me drawing to few creatures that lost me the games I did lose and I ran 16 vs the 12 you have. Some minor tweaking and this might make a nice comeback next week though people are seriously sore about losing to infect.

With the release of Avacyn Restored I can think of 3 new cards that could go well in here:

Wild Defiance
Blessings of Nature
Revenge of the Hunted

Hope that helped =)
