Deck Description

Disrupt their hand early, kill anything they dare to put on the field, hit them with mad life drain. If you run out of cards you can pay life to get more.

Right now the deck is focused on erebos, because he's a 5/7 indestructible monster. But that isn't actually the best thing for the deck, I just like erebos a bunch. It's also a little cheaper than the alternative. If you want to unbudgetize this deck, swap the alms beast out for desecration demons. Because of this switch, I would then recommend +1 whip -1 erebos +2 sin collectors -1 lifebane zombie -1 devour flesh. If you wanted to make something that really hits standard right now you'll start adding pack rats. But I can't stand that card. Too powerful.

How to Play

Many people are now aware of the whip of erebos + obzedat, but if you aren't you can bring obzedat back with the whip and then exile him with his ability. He will come back the next turn. This means with the whip out your obzedat will never really die.

I don't think i have to tell people how badass thoughtseize is. But also nice is on the third turn following up by removing another card with a sin collector or lifebane zombie.

The various etb effect three drop creatures are very effective if you trade early. This is because you just reanimate them again later for additional value. You don't really need to pressure them early if you're going to end with the ridiculous life swings of obzedat and (sometimes) erebos.

People don't gain the life from devour flesh, last breath, or alms beast if you have erebos out.

I expect nykthos decks to be a real danger in the future, that's why there are encroaching wastes available.

Against control post board, your favorite thing (BESIDES SIN COLLECTOR) should be to side in ray of dissolution. This is for one play that I have used several times to win the game singlehandedly. What does control do against erebos? always the same answer. Detention spere. They maindeck 4 copies of em these days. How do you respond? Make sure you have black devotion of 4 and a ray of dissolution in hand, wait till they use a bigass sphinx's revelation, then respond with a ray of dissolution to blank their lifegain and do +5 extra damage. It usually wins the game.
