Deck Description

Here we go gents! My incarnation of Devour for Power!

This is my second ever EDH deck, based on the very special Mimeoplasm, such a versitile little guy! When he drops in he'll exile 2 creatures from any graveyard, one of them he can clone while he takes the body from the other (adds +1/+1 counters equal to the power of said creature).

The most fun strategies revolve around feeding him a creature with a good or unique ability (like Thrun, The Last Troll) and dropping a massive body (like Phyrexian Dreadnought), the 2 examples would produce a 16/16 green troll with Trollshroud and regenerate, pretty fun guy huh? Other fun cloning possibilities are Simic Sky Swallower or Triskelion, and combine it with Lord of Exctintion (with all the possible milling, your graveyard will be huge). So lets begin!

**List of cards outside of the database will be added shortly**

Commander: The Mimeoplasm

Other cards not in teh database:
Command Tower
Damia, Sage of Stone
Tribute to the Wild

Some of the other guys in there I felt either didn't serve the deck to its' fullest, or would've been better with a deck built specifically for them.

~~~~~~~~
Okay there we have it. Obviously I'm always looking for fairly inexpensive ways to improve my deck, so if anyone has any suggestions, go for it~!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So taking this deck to a points based Commander tournament, even though it didn't win it was pretty much successful. I probably would've won if I had understood the points system. In the first round I pretty much got douched out by Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and Trade Secrets. The second time we timed out, with me landing second place, although sitting on a killer field after I board wiped everyone with Living Death and brought on a host of Praetors, Avatar of Woe, Terastodon, Acidic Slime, a couple tutor creatures, and Eternal Witness. With Eternal Witness I pulled Voidslime back to my hand, just to keep myself sitting safe.

td:dr - The worked fine! :3

Deck discussion for The Mimeoplasm, EDH

Cytoplast manipulator is awesome with the dude and entomb is pretty good too. shambling shell and life from the loam are cheap ways to get stuff in your grave, as is fauna shaman, which is probably the biggest inclusion i could think of.

I am looking for Life from the Loam, I don't actually own one of those so when I get one I'll add it to the list. That Cytoplast Manipulator + Shambling Shell combo seems pretty interesting.

Looking pretty good. I like DoDG in this, he was on my list of possible inclusions and still might make it in as I do more fine tuning.

I was also thinking Diabolic Servitude might work nicely in this deck. Recursive reanimation seems like it'd be invaluable, though having to exile the enchanted creature is a slight downside, since you won't be able to reanimate it again later or use it as Mimeoplasm fodder.

The DoDG is great in this, not so much to feed to Mimeoplasm, but because he's great to reanimate if you need someone to wreck face. The guys I've typically been feeding to him for body is Krosan Cloudscraper or Lord of Extinction. :3 That reminds me, I need to add Cloudscraper to the deck list... but I can't remember what I took out.

IDK, but the deck is very fun. I just need the last few cards to make it complete..

Diabolic Servitude is nice, but I don't like that it exiles. The only creatures that I wouldn't mind getting exiled are creatures that I wouldn't be trying to reanimate. I was thinking about adding Dance of the Dead though.

I did make a few alterations to this deck build. I'll update it when I remember what they are! lol XD

Krosan Cloudscraper was going to be my next suggestion. I need to make room for him in my deck.

He's wonderful, I love being able to effectively play a 17/17 Thrun, the Last Troll. :3

Or hell, if you just wanna dick around. When they attack with something big, instant cast Necromancy and drop Krosan Cloudscraper down. Just watch their face as they spout things like "Why would you do that?!!" and just sit back and laugh as their creature dies underneath the might of the Cloudscraper.

I'm also looking into making another EDH based completely around Reanimation, more like yours looks, except without Mimeoplasm. With that I was looking more into the dude from Counterpunch.. Karador, Ghost Chieftain. He would be easy enough to cast in that type of deck, and having the opportunity to drop repeatedly bring back things that have died, he just seems like he would be fun. Although I'm not completely sure if he will be the general yet or not, I do know that I want Black and White in it, and the Green he would allow me to use would be very nice. Allowing me to utilize big creatures like Terastodon or useful guys like Acidic Slime, as well as offering Eternal Witness.. That's just naming a few of course.

Counterpunch and Heavenly Inferno were the other two premades I was considering tweaking into Reanimation decks, with Karador and Tariel as generals, respectively. Ended up going with Counterpunch just because I liked Damia so much. Counterpunch definitely seems like the best alternative choice to build a reanimation deck around though, Tariel works better with stuff like Nezumi Graverobber.

Counterpunch looks like it has 2 possible decks in it, as well as another interesting General in Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter. A buffable Lifelinker with built in removal. Its easy enough to produce tokens and little guys (to recycle with cards like Sun Titan). There *has* to be a way to build a good deck around him..

Actually to play my deck a few times, and it's a lot of fun. Your suggestion of using the 'Plasm as commander was definitely the best piece of advice I've taken in awhile as the amount of things you can do with him is endless. Copying my gf's Angel of Despair to destroy her commander and then eating a Cloudscraper for the counters was just evil. Getting Bojuka Bog'd sucks hard though. I added stuff specifically to counter the Bog but they also work on other forms of graveyard hate. You may want to do the same if anyone you play against uses bog. I use Voidslime and Time Stop personally. Stifle is good too but I don't have one any more and it's too expensive for me to want to buy.

I do like the idea of throwing in Time Stop and Voidslime, because lets face it. Graveyard hate is common, cheap, and effective enough to warrant a slot in the majority of EDH decks. These cards could definately help stem that tide a bit, although I've made a rule in the casual setting limiting everyone to one graveyard exile ability. Of course they choose Relic of Progenitus or Bojuka Bog.. >.> They like how it cripples my deck and they get a draw out of it. Although I might also pick up Pithing Needle, because that can also stop Sensei's Divining Top. Because almost everyone in my group plays that one.

That said, yes Mimeoplasm is a very fun general. I ended up taking out Triskelion because with it in the deck, I found myself milling myself until it and Lord of Extinction in the graveyard, just so I can hit that instant win. And usually once one of them would enter the graveyard, they would instantly drop their graveyard hate to stop it. I'll need to update the deck listing when I stop changing it around, but so far I'm enjoying it a lot. Being new to the format and all. :)
