I played a vampire + madness deck in standard - back in the day. A card that I really liked using was heir of falkenrath. She was fast off the draw, she discarded a card (for madness) and had evasion ability (flying).

The dagger enriches the Mindmelter and the DreamStealer (my major feature of the deck). Although, I do understand you because there are only 15 creatures. I don't think it's a waste of a card ;-)

All I keep thinking about is a board of 3/3's attacking with menace!

I run Dark Salvation, Liliana's Mastery and Diregraf Colossus because of the Zombie Tokens that they generate.

I'm thinking that Dark Confidant would be a good card in this deck ;-)

When I think of a modern deck, I think of 3rd turn kills. This is mainly because the format allows for it sometimes. I think that decks which consistently put out 4th turn kills are the ones everybody wants to play. In order to get a 3rd turn kill with this deck, you need the haste effect from Through the Breach.

1st Turn - Stomping Ground + Search for Tomorrow (suspended)
2nd Turn - Mountain + Farseek
3rd Turn - Mountain + Resolve Search for Tomorrow + Through the Breach - Playing Primeval Titan and searching for 2 Valakut's with his first trigger and then 2 mountains with his second trigger, plus 6 damage from his attack, yields 18 damage!*

*Note: This is only a 3rd turn kill if your opponent has dealt 2 damage to himself. i.e: a shock land or 2 fetch lands or a Thoughtseize. (for example)

4th Turn - Mountain. So there you go a really quick deck and with a 3rd turn kill. Can't beat it, right? I hope you see the reason for using Through the Breach instead of Dramatic Entrance. The 3rd turn kills are what the players pay the big bucks for!

I have only been playing Magic the Gathering competitively for about 3.5 years. I still have not gotten use to the changing meta in Modern. Standard, I try my own brews. Legacy, I don't have the cards or the money. Needless to say, I rarely use the side-board - only when I am sure my deck is too slow and when I need hate (graveyard hate, creature removal, ect..). I still have lots of learning to do. But I love you play!

I make it public so that people who are looking for pro-decks can find them. I know that there are other websites dedicated to the meta-game in Standard, Modern, Legacy and Vintage. I would like to see more pro decks on MTGVault and most of the time the decks that I pick are a variance of the deck that I am trying to find.

This is a deck that I found on StarCity Games website. I would like to purchase this deck, but first I wanted to run a few sample hands and get a clear picture about what I am doing. I was playing my own creation, but for the last 4 weeks I have only went 2-2 and more often 1-3 on Friday Nights (FNM). I guess I will suck it up and listen to the pros.

I want to purchase a Zoo deck, and this is what I found online net-decking. I think it was on StarCity Games website. I am using this website to store cool pro decks and I use the "Draw Sample Hand" tool to give me an idea how the deck works. I make my own decks too, but not in this case.

I agree with you! The right card appears to be "Llanowar Wastes".

This is standard too - and it could be used with the rotation of new standard. I like your idea about NorthernWarlord liking this deck! Thanx for your input.

Hello, great to have you back!

I must say that my attempt @ Suicide Black - was pretty lame ;-)
And it was nice of you to help out - but I think that you could possibly try it on your own.
If you could - I would use it in the modern format and tell you how it did afterwards.

Seriously, Suicide Black - try it out.

P.S. You could make it a budget deck if you wanted

I appreciate you spending your time to help me. If you could maybe adjust the quantities of the cards so that it is tuned for speed and consistency. This is along the lines of what I am looking for.

Hi, my name is Steven Clapham.
I have been following your work for about a year now. I'm really impressed with your budget series. I have not got the chance to see all of your decks. I am sure you have a few cards that are diamonds in the ruff through-out your vast collection of decks. I would like to ask a favor. I play modern on Thursday nights at the Comic Book Shop near Toronto, Canada. I was wondering if you could tell me if my mono black deck is worth playing. I went to my first tournament yesterday and went 2 wins and 2 losses. The link is here:

If you don't have the time or don't wish to help me out, maybe you could send this link to a friend of yours who enjoys playing mono black decks. I just want to know if the deck is competitive in the Modern Meta.

Thanxs!

Hi!
I built a deck for modern with the name "Suicide Black". I think that this could possibly be a real deck! Please help me, by using the link and check out my new modern deck.

I know I have not messaged you in a little while, but I could really use your help on this one. I don't like losing so hopefully you can tell me if this deck works or doesn't work in the Modern Meta.
