Deck Description

A deck focusing on instant discard. The cards in the sideboard are cards considered for the deck. Originally i wanted more creatures + winding canyons.

There aren't much instant discard around, the only real thing i found was funeral charm. Necrogen spellbomb is also somewhat instant. Nezumi shortfand can also be used as an instant.
For this deck to work it also needs some permanent discard. The permanent discard here are isochron scepter on funeral charm, mimic vat on ravenous rats and untapping hollowsage with puppet strings. If you get one of those combos down, and howling mine or some other bullshit isn't down, then you've pretty much won.

The decks biggest weakness is fast decks, like decks based on goblins. To counter that to some degree this deck have some big discarders like hymn to tourach and then a butload of mana acceleration, for a fast big mind twist.

Deck discussion for Discard

Okay bro. Here comes the words of wisdom :)

The deck is nice, and the idea to shut him down completely is awesome. Winding Canyons and Funeral Charms - Good Grief..

1) Put in Yawgmoth's Will - For obvious reasons
2) Put in Mana Vault - You want be able to hit a big Mind Twist quite early, or get a Hollowsage down, since it's 3 colorless..
3) Sack two lands and put in 2x Cabal Rituals
4) Try to improve your Hollowsage combo - it's an awesome card, but I think you'll be able to make it faster than with the puppet strings. Perhaps there's an equipment-card that fullfills the requirements better, I don't know.

5)I could be worried about the speed. He wont be emptied before at least round 3.. Maybe take out the Lilianas Carresses. They are a win-more card in this deck since you should be able to lock him out completely with your combo, and then finish him with the rats or The Rack. Put in stuff to help you rip his hand apart one round earlier or to kill what he can play the first couple of rounds. Also they will be reuseable with Yawgmoth's Will.

Forget about the Cabals, they are probably too slow, and by the time you get 7 cards in graveyard, you wont require that kind of mana anymore.

Pull out 2x Nezumi and put in 1x Vampiric Tutor and 1x Demonic Tutor :)

Hey buddy! Had a good look at this and I really like ya ideas bout instant discarding. Think u could need a bit of draw engine and Dream Salvage would fit just perfect in here. and if u wonna make this deck faster, get rid of some of the puppets (have a look at Thousand-Year Elixir). -I see it together with Hollowsage, but bring least one more of them instead. Let me suggest:

- 2 x Puppet Strings (annoying to have several of them in ya hand)
- 1 x Isochron Scepter (annoying to have several of them in ya hand)
- 1 x Demonic Tutor (What do need that impotent?)
- 1 x Winding Canyons (21 land should be enough with that insane mana curve)

2 x Dream Salvage
1 x Raven's Crime (u will love it :))
2 x Inquisition of Kozilek / Black Mail

enough said .. we need a test soon..

Thanks for the input!

I'm not sure Thousand-Year Elixir would be a suitable substitute. The bonus added with Puppet Strings is that i can hold his creatures tapped if he gets some on the board. As i see it this decks biggest weakness is if I'm up against creatures bigger then a 3/3, since that is the largest creature i have and i only have two of them. If i time a Funeral charm with a suicide of a Nezumi Shortfang i can kill something with four toughness.

I could remove some Isochron Scepters in order to put in some Mimic Vats. That way i could also throw Ravenous Rats as an instant an infinit amount of times.

The Demonic Tutor could perhaps be removed, but I feel like it's the kinda card that just increases your chance of your combos comming true. I thought that i might use it for getting my mana vault or sol ring for a bigger mind twist earlier. Also i could help med locate an Isochron if i had a Funeral Charm etc.

I removed the land. Guess you are right that i don't need 22 lands :)

I considered removing The Rack since, if he can't draw any cards it dosn't matter if i kill him in 5 turns og 60. If all goes well i shouldn't need the three damage pr. turn. It would be okay just to pund him down with rats.

If I was to implement the Raven's Crime and Black Mail I guess I would have to remove some mind twist's or hymn's since it is those cars i rely on to windel down his starting hand.

Yeah, yawgmath's will ftw. Also, I think you need a bit more control in there, maybe check into mixing it with blue? Or something like that? Kill spells and CA are always nice...

Check out my new deck though? Like for like? Comment for comment?

Put Surgical Extraction for combo elimination. You can use it in the scepter as well :)

Personally I'd have Thoughtseize mainboard and Surgical Extraction. The Surgical's are to permanently get rid of some of the more nasty cards.
