Deck Description

Alright everyone, I really need some help on this. I've never really made a competitive EDH build prior to this so what I need is feedback on how to run this correctly. I've chosen a general, that of which is filled with responses and has multiple infinite combos revolving around him for maximum chance that I can instantly kill my opponent once I get him out, however the deck itself needs to be able to run by itself without the help of my general. I'm trying to build this like a sudo-clique deck, a control-esque type deck that will be able to compete with the Clique deck itself and various other decks like Ioona and Renanimator.

Control, mixed with burn, mixed with creatures. Let's try this out.

Deck discussion for Izzet EDH

Hello

a) you may wanna look at the ban list you intend to use

b) is this intended to multi or 1v1 ?
Whatever check point a)

You made obvious choices of good cards but i think the overall combination look "not good" to me, for instance

c) Isochron scepter is a very good card but, how many of your 100 cards do you think you can imprint on it ?

d) look like you could add a lot of general protection card (boots for instance, there are a few more classic of sub-voltron edh)

e) lot of land etb tapped, too much for multi, even too much for 1v1

hope that helps, i dig seriously on Izzet Edh for a very long time and i couldn't find yet something satisfying to me so maybe it's just me.

As far as I can tell all my cards are legal in EDH.

As for the style of the deck, it features less around a "theme" placed by the color scheme but rather just a U/R version of Vendilion Clique.

Scepter is there to imprint utility cards. With a lot of the short responses, I don't mind the Scepter sitting in my hand for a while before I can play it.

I was considering boots, but I'm more partial to the Greaves but I'll see if I can find an extra Boots.

Only 3 of my lands enter the battlefield tapped. I don't get where you think that's too much. It's the tri colors that usually don't benefit from ETB tapped lands, but dual ones can do it just fine. Things like the Conclave are amazing as they have evasion but the Ghitu I'll take out.

a) 7 of your lands actually enter the battlefield tapped plus you play terrible lands like boilerworks...
b) sol ring is banned in 1v1 as is Sensei divining top (yes there's a separate banlist for duel commander) for obvious reasons
c) Niv mizzet is an expensive general i velieve it's worth being sure to have a strong protection for him each game and since you can't tutor your greaves...
in my meta you'd be lucky if you manage to even equip him anyway... expensive generals sucks for competition

etc.

I'm going by the general ban list. This is a 1v1 deck that isn't going to a tournament, so it goes by the regular ban list.

You're playing an entirely different meta. I'm not taking this to a tournament. I'm building this to compete against the top tier EDH decks that also don't follow that ban list. I've never even heard of a "Duel banlist" and I've been playing EDH since the format was created.

Use rules and banlist going off

Also, the places that I go to for sanctioned EDH torunaments don't go by this "Duel Commander" ban list. They go by the official, regular ban list.
