Deck Description

The idea behind this deck is to get out a lot of tokens and beef them up quickly. Well I don't actually own this deck, and most of the decks I post on here, I have play tested them on MTG Virtual Playtable (Highly recommended software) and it seems to work well.

Here's a general overview of the deck..

The main combo you want to strive to get out in this deck is Doubling Season and Cathars' Crusade. These two enchantments have amazing synergy with each other. For example: Let's suppose you have both of them out by turn 6 or turn 7, which is very feasible, and play an Increasing Devotion. You will get 10 tokens with 20 counters on each token plus those 20 counters on any other creatures you may have on the battlefield. It is absolutely insane.

Birds of Paradise and Sylvan Caryatid will help you mana ramp early game. After turn two or three, you should be able to throw out an Awakening Zone, which will give you an extra mana each turn if you sacrifice it, or an additional blocker if you need it. You'll get double if you have Doubling Season out. Awakening Zone can also serve as your sacrifice fodder for Eldrazi Monument - which will also, of course, net you that one colorless mana to use when you sacrifice it.

Hero of Bladehold is an absolute monster in this deck - she gives battle cry to each additional creature attacking and sends out two 1/1 soldiers each time she attacks. If you have the mentioned combination of Doubling Season and Cathars' Crusade out, those are four soldiers when she attacks that add 8 counters to each creature you control, including themselves.

The main token producing cards in this deck are the Sorcery cards, Increasing Devotion, which are great because they have flashback which essentially gives you 16 spells for 8 cards.

Privileged Position gives everything else hexproof - the idea is more so to protect your enchantments from being destroyed than your creatures, and if you can get both of them out everything you control will have hexproof.

Mirari's Wake gives your creatures +1/+1, which is very helpful for a token deck, and can help you ramp mid to late game as this deck features a lot of 5 CMC cards.

Garruk can give you consistent tokens, or card draw (which can be a lot of cards) if you're needing more cards in hand. Elspeth will give you life gain and can either give you more tokens, which can add counters to everything including themselves with Cathars' Crusade.. or, more importantly, wipe the board of everything except for lands and tokens... how convenient.

Deck discussion for Amass the Army

You're pretty hard up at 5 mana. How about the new Elspeth that costs 6 and ramps up with putting creatures out

I prefer the life gain from Elspeth Tirel. She's one mana less and after only one of her + ability she can destroy all permanents except tokens and lands. With Cathar's Crusade and Doubling Season it can be really OP.
