Deck Description

Mono black with New Phyrexia. There is fair amount of sacrificing being done by the opponent with this deck, along with discarding. Birthing Pod makes the deck quicker, swampwalk is wonderful, and I can't say enough good about Vault Skirge. I'm just not sure what a sideboard looks like for this deck...

Deck discussion for Mono Black!

I made my own in Scars Limited. You can check my profile for it if you want.

You're trying to do too many things at once here. You are trying to disrupt their hand while disrupting their field. Yet you also are playing big aggro cards. I see you are trying out control, so stick with that. Get rid of Blistergrub and Vault Skirge and sub in Cathedral Membrane and Everflowing Chalice. You'll need some mana ramp if you ever want to get up to Sheoldred. Other than that it looks good.

i think you either need to take out birthing pod or splash in green
it costs you 2 life to play and 2 life per use along with a creature sac to play another very specific creature set right now

i would keep vault skirge as the bane of both doomblade and go for the throat and replace the birthing pod with either a draw like sign in blood or a ramp like everflowing chalice
getting carried away with splshing phyrexian mana is a sure way to get yourself killed

i actually did just make a deck based on birthing pod, and it would be great if you wanted to check it out
