It runs more permanents then its BW Control counterpart to activate Athreos, and has more efficient removal in the form of Banishing Light.
VS Mono B Devotion: Fortunately, this deck fares well against Mono B because our cards can keep their devotion low--making a late game Gray Merchant hit for less. +3 Duress +1 Merciless Eviction -1 Athreos -1 Elspeth -2 ObzedatVS Mono U Devotion: This is a tough matchup--luckily our post-sideboard game is much better after we remove the threat of Thassa with Deicide. Thoughtsieze is also a bad card in this matchup since blue has a lot of redundant cards. +2 Deicide +2 Doom Blade +1 Merciless Eviction -4 Thoughtseize -1 ElspethVS Control: This is where the deck shines in counterpart to its BW Control brother. Use hand disruption as a way to force cards to stick to the board. Cards like Underworld Connections and Whip can win you the game if unanswered by the control player. We play this matchup by racing them before they can hit a big sphinx. -2 Bile Blight -1 Devour Flesh -3 Heros Downfall -1 Ultimate Price +3 Duress +2 Sin Collector +1 Erebos +1 Lifebane ZombieVS Monsters: This will usually be a hard matchup since the ability for Monsters to curve out usually means that there is too much on the board to deal with.
