Deck Description

Budget- this deck should be around $30 or less(TCGPlayer MTGvault's estimated values are usually off). Please give suggestions to make this deck improve. No negativity please and please LIKE THE DECK

How to Play

Play your 1 and two drop creatures - if they're not unblockable, make them!(with distortion strike which also triggers wild defiance- credit for this combo goes to jedc22). Pump creatures with groundswell ,mutagenic growth and invigorate while triggering the wild defiance for a fast win. Keep the opponent's battlefield clear with doom blade and putrefy(sideboard). Keep away your opponent's removal with dispel. The goal of this deck is to get a fast win before any opponent can do anything. Invigorate is a great card for infect because the opponent could gain as much life as they wanted and you wouldn't give a damn. Heck, they could ult Ajani, Mentor of Heroes and they would lose easily. Any suggestions?

Deck discussion for [Budget] BUG Infect

To me, Wild defiance seems faster and more efficient then Hand of the Praetors in what this deck wants to do. Aqueous Form is good, but leaves you vulnerable to 2-1's. Distortion Strike costs the same and has the same effect with an added +1/0 (except its till end of turn of course) and has rebound, so you have an unblockable creature for two turns for 1 mana that also triggers wild defiance (both from your hand and on rebound)

a well timed strike while wild defiance is out and you could be swinging lethal by turn 4. switching up your pump spells a little can also allow you a turn 2 win scenario. something like might of old krosa, groundswell, and distortion strike, or groundswell, giant growth, and mutagenic growth. it's not a guarantee, but it's often enough that it can't be called luck either. and when it doesn't happen you can just win on turn 3 or 4 lol.

More Wild Defiance, Rangers Guile for protection, Unnatural Predation to bust through chump blockers, Invigorate for a more effective pump.
More critters like Ichorclaw Myr, (a must have), and Rot Wolf, (curve topper).
...and there is always Swiftfoot Boots...

Love the invigorate glad you told me about it.

The problem is invigorate is not modern

Didn't know this build was in a particular meta. Would've said something. I had the same reaction when stumbling upon Invigorate and then going on to reading the fine lines...

It's fine. I actually play this deck in casual with my friends, so invigorate is brilliant

My friend has a deck nearly exactly the same as this except its modern legal and he played and went 9-0-0. I was shocked when I heard this as this is only about $20 where as many people spend hundreds on modern decks

Removal is the worst, main some Vines of Vastwood instead of Phytoburst. In Modern, everything is determined on the stack; instances are combat trick builds' best friend.

For the same price one gets you an extra +1/+1, but I would much rather have the pseudo-hexproof on my creature and maintain card advantage. Also Vines can target THEIR creatures as well. Great against catching auras on Bogles.

It's also a $2 card. A playset of those eats up half his budget. That is a pricey Giant Growth...

I wouldn't compare it to Giant Growth per se.

By the price standards this website gives, this deck is well over the $15 budget. So there is a chance it will spill over. By the way, I don't trust mtgvaults price ranges in the least, I did it for this instance only since we're already on the site, I'm sure you don't either and have a LGS somewhere that you frequent instead.

Anyway, I feel as mtg players, we are all in agreement that the bottom line is: shopping around is ideal. Heck, I found my Vines for half the price you saw them starting at.

@Lolz123, nice build man.

Agreed. I use TCGPlayer as my pricepoint because there are multiple vendors competing for my $ and I can in fact click a button and actually buy the card for that price right there and then. Real world pricing in real time.
