Deck Description

Tribal Modern legal, semi competitive, utilizing a ton of cards readily available to Standard players from the last few cycles with a few MM2015 cards thrown in.
There are a few "older" cards here and there but they are very cheap and easy to find.

Unlike Standard Bant Humans the reason to be in Blue is not Reflector Mage/CoCo but rather Knight of the Reliquary/Retreat to Coralhelm, ( aka Knightfall).

This version is much easier to get into then a "regular" Knightfall list, as it's supporting cast is much cheaper, but still allows the combo to flourish. It is also quicker to pick up then your regular CoCo lists as Townsfolk is much more intuitive how to play properly.

Some brainstorming after a small tournament led me to pull the 2 Reflector Mages, (often feel like the weakest creature in the deck), and replace them with 3 Geist of Saint Traft for the next test cycle as he is extremely strong with Retreat. That worked pretty damn good for a while until my playgroup came prepared.

Another suggestion I got was to go in a more budget friendly direction and go all in with Lambholt Pacifist, (also good against decks playing solitaire). Wouldn't it be fun if pulling the Paths for Pacifists turned out to be like plugging in a human 'goyf! She should also work well with the Mayor...

Latest edit is running in the new Thalia to test. Early results suggest that she is a huge tempo gain when she sticks but her lifespan is normally measured in seconds unless you have already pulled out the removal with your other weenies.

How to Play

Straight up Human synergy throughout with just enough of the "Knightfall" combo thrown in for the occasional easy win.

Champion and Lieutenant with Townsfolk can get stupid quickly and applies early pressure. The other side is a 18/18 Knight with protection swinging in on turn 3, ( just nuts all by itself), or simply as a big finisher.

Cheap 1 drop Humans that either ramp or grow, supported by lords that can grow themselves rolls into a 1-2 Thalia punch that is a huge tempo advantage that can set up the combo finish for a flashy ending.

Fun, inexpensive, (Hierarch being the only big $ card in here and she is relatively easily replaced by the cheaper Birds, or even Pacifist), and a great starting point if you want to get into Modern and have a chance of winning. The deck allows you to build and improve upon it as much as you, (your wallet), and imagination allows you, (Ex: Swap Hierarch for Birds, or going the other way; Townsfolk for CoCo, etc, etc.).

Please post any suggestions for improvements you might have below. Budget or full blown Spike solutions are equally welcome. Let's see where this might take us.....

Deck discussion for Modern Bant Humans (Sold)

+1 Really great build IMHO. I really like the new Tamiyo coming out in Eldritch Moon that just got spoiled. I think it could be a winner in this deck.

New Tamyo could work, new Thalia will definitely work! :)

I used sakura tribe scout, and skyshroud ranger with the bounce land (simic growth chamber) alongside coralhelm.
Altar of the brood or hedron crab then gave infinite mill combo. Maybe including hedron crab in this as a 1 or 2 of could be a nice twist (even though he isn't human)
Could always use thraben doomsayer to give infinite human tokens.

Not sure I understand, you are saying I should swap a 2 card combo for a 4 card combo?

Not at all. More a 'nod' to the possibility. Inserting thraben doomsayer alongside the knight would give a similar result. Yes it's a 3 card combo, but given the plan to get the 2 card combo running, it gives another option. Plus he gives that extra creature for free each turn if the combo isn't running. His fateful hour trigger can rapidly turn a board around if he hits the field with it active.

Got it. The 3 drop slot is pretty crowded but might be worth testing a 1 of....

Collected Company and Reflector Mage would be good in here

CoCo is likely an upgrade on Townsfolk, (I have not tested it), but don't dismiss Townsfolk outright as a just a budget solution as it is deceptively powerful and the Fateful Hour can flip a game. I'm actually inclined to try Vial in that slot as Vial on 2 seems like a nightmare to play around...? Reflector I have tested and he was very mehh, I'd rather plug Geist in that slot. New Thalia seems wicked tho....

Mass Appeal would be too good in this deck.
