Deck discussion for B/G Denial

Hey there. I play both modern and legacy with the following Black & Green deck:
http://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/budget-gb-for-modernlegacy/

We share some stuff, but not too much, so I was thinking if you could comment on my design
(How it works is thoroughly covered in the description!)

I'm not so far in my games with the deck in modern but I keep the deck legal in both formats at all time.
--------------
I prefer to have 6 discard-cards in my main-deck and 2 extra in the sideboard, and am interested in how often you get hosed by combo in the first game compared to the second.

Geth's verdict may remove a critter at opponent's choice, and since you have plenty of other removal, what's your basis for keeping despise in the sideboard? (I'm thinking of moving it to main in my design)

The Geth's verdict are in for the boggles match-up as well as the additional damage. Despise is good against zoo, boggles, and any aggressive strategy that relies on fast creatures and planeswalkers. Combo can be pretty tough, however most combo decks ultimately rely on creatures, like splinter twin, so the removal can keep them from winning long enough until you corrupt them in the face for lethal. This deck originally was mono-black, but the only way for it to be competitive in the meta-game was to splash green for answers to non-creature permanents; any advice on the splash would be appreciated. Thank you for the comment, and I will definitely check out your spin on things.

In my area infect is played more than hexproof, and geth's verdict is good against both. So far I have used warren weirding to get 6 untargeted removers to have solid opportunities to win against decks like that. Weirding is sorcery though, so I have been speculating a bit if consume flesh could be an option. The lifegain can become heavy, and my deck is not the fastest aggro out there. Do you have any input on consume flesh?

Despise is great against creatures and planeswalkers, but not so good against combo. Combo is the least played decktype though so if despise is mainboard you will need to keep something vs combo in sideboard.
The reason why I consider despise in main is that aggro is the most played thing out there, and if opponents have a swarm of creatures in the deck to protect a flagship (like elf/craterhoof in legacy) it's nice to pick out a creature with despise that couldn't have been removed with geth's verdict or similar cards. In modern this would apply for pod and splinter as well.

About your designs:
have you considered beast within?
With abrupt decay you can remove the tokens generated, and you have plenty of other stuff to remove the token.
I have less removal so beast within is less attractive in my deck, though I might consider it as I have run into someone playing a lot with vedalken shackless lately, and my deathtouchers can block the token :D

Thanks for the tip; somehow I had forgotten about beast within. As for the despise, I always found it best in the sideboard, but that is just my experience. One card you could consider for legacy play is diabolic edict; it is an instant speed two drop that makes them sac a creature with no drawback.

The legacy meta in which I play there's nearly only crt and planeswalkers about, and so far I see the same in modern (With even less walkers) so despise is perfect for me since I don't play that much removal.

I know the edict, but I'm a stubborn old man that tries to run several projects at the same time. I restrict myself in so many ways that it's a miracle that I manage to win as often as I do.

First of all, since I play the same deck in modern and legacy, I have had past experiences where I have forgotten to remove the illegal cards in one format and put in the replacers, so by playing exactly the same deck in both formats I avoid these stupid mistakes.

Second I almost always use the same mana-solution for all my designs (22 lands, 12 1cc, 12 2cc and 14 3cc) And it is usually only when I sideboard that I break this patern!

Third this deck is a "halfdeck". The design is intended to be split in two equally efficient halves that may be combined with other halfdecks that I make in the future, and by perfecting all of this in 2 formats I try to spread out this design-style. If you use the search functions of mtgvault to look for [halfdeck] you will find about 30+ other halfdecks made by me and others, though none of the others are active these days.

I have also had a long tradition of avoiding to use mainstream cards, and it is only in conjunction with halfdecks that I am even considering cards like thrun, wurmcoil and such other populare cards.

So you see I'm quite crazy, and if I ever stared losing all my weird restrictions I would likely end up being a boring normalized pro, just like hundreds of other pro's out there :D

I love the way that you are able to thrive with such a restrictive list. Keep at it man.

It's a sisyfos task!
There are so many decktypes, and whenever I manage to proxy a deck something new has been invented and I haven't the economy to print every deck I want to...

Right now I'm mostly annoyed at legacy where I'm halted by elves (considering golgari charm in sb) and death & taxes that has mirran crusader which is so bad against me.

I'm also bugged a bit by uw-miracles with terminus.

I have had fun with wurmcoil engine this weekend and in the past, but it is a bit expensive with 6 mana, so I am considering to have them replaced with 2 batterskull which is cheaper and have staying power against terminus. It may also be fun to equip it on a vampire or a vault skirge, or even a deathtoucher.
