Deck Description

After playing at a local shop and getting a lot of multiplayer experience by playing in different pods I went out on a mission to find an EDH general that's well balanced for such a setting and I found Lord of Tresserhorn. I love red, i love blue, not too fond of black until I started playing this guy and those color combinations are just brutal to play against. The ultimate control, steal, and sacrifice color combo. I plan on making a primer page for this deck eventually once it has more experience.

How to Play

First off, the RUB colors are 100% grounds to make a deck consist of damn near every infinite combo within those bounds, but I chose not to do them on purpose. This isn't a "combo-out" deck, moreso fit to survive a multiplayer environment. In pods, combo cards are feared, fatties are dealt with quickly, and then all 3 players turn on you until a bigger threat arises.

Lord of Thresserhorn has perfect threat balance, his CMC is 4 and he's a 10/4, but he comes with a drawback and an asset. "Sacrifice 2 creatures" - I make this an asset, i WANT those creeps sac'ed if I can. "Lose 2 life" - in EDH, 2 life is no big deal. "Target opponent draws 2 cards" - This is what makes him perfect for multiplayer, he's a fatty but delivers benefits to an enemy which typically makes 1 less person to come after Thresserhorn. Usually the 2 card draw for my opponent doesn't get utilized as most people fear. "{B} Regenerate" - Let's not forget he's a big fatty with a regenerate! Typically, if Tresserhorn isn't dealt with as soon as he comes out, I can usually start 1 shotting people turn by turn. It all depends on the draws. Plus, with cards like Stile or Torpor Orb, we don't need to worry about his ETB. The only thing I personally think is a pure downside to Lord of Thresserhorn is that hes a 10/4, which I wish he was a 11/4 because of the double strike effects I have. This is literally the only negative thing I see when I look at him.

If there's one thing I've learned most by playing multiplayer EDH it's that you don't want to make your general your only win condition. If your general is hated off the board, then your pretty much out of the game. That's why I've put together a few other ways to win aside from playing Tresserhorn.

My favorite red combo
Kiki Jiki + Zealous Conscript = Unlimited Zeal's, nuke the board.

Phage the Untouchable + Surestrike Tyrant = 1 hit KO!
Phage the Untouchable + Pandemonium = Same as above
Tainted Strike + Lord of Tresserhorn = 1 hit wonder
Sorin Markov + Lord of Tresserhorn = 1 hit wonder

I didn't put many pure combo cards because this deck's philosophy is win by attacking/damage burn with control. I've stopped many combos and fattys with stuff like...
Gilded Drake - Gimme your fatty and i'll swing at you!
Kazuul Tyrant of the Cliffs - Works well against "whenever creature attacks" cards like Thraximundar
Kulrath Knight - Cute fatty. Can't attack or block though!
Phyrexian Obliterator - Go ahead, attack me.
Royal Assassin - Great creature removal with a body
Shipwreck Singer - Forces utility weenies to attack so I can kill them by blocking
Spellskite - Extremely versatile, looked over often. Stops a lot of combos
Treachery - Free creep steal (given 5 lands which is easy)

Overall there's plenty of card draws, destroy/sac creature removal, and control cards to support my playstyle for the deck. I win most of the time when I play this deck and a big reason for it is because so many people underestimate it's potential. As we say in multiplayer EDH ... It's all about politics, and that's where this deck succeeds.
