Deck discussion for Esper Extraction'ish (standard)

This looks a lot like a Solar Flare deck. I think that unburial rites would benefit this deck. And if you're wanting to use Extraction, I would use Life's Finale over Black Sun Zenith. I would run Shimmering Grotto to use with Praetor's Grasp.

As for sideboard, I would run Ratchet Bombs for token decks.
And if you decide to run Unburial Rites Id put in Sheoldred, and Elesh Norn.

it was kinda accidental making it looking like flare... i couldnt decide on whether to go UB/WB....
dont really know what to take out in order to go with the solar flare twist to it. or if thats the way i want to go... thinking of dropping white and make it UB... but suntitan and Geist of saint traft are just to great to leave behind :)

I would agree. The setup you have looks like it would fairly well. I would still run Ratchet Bombs in the sideboard to take out token decks. You could also sideboard Life's Finale as well. As for anything else, I really don't know what you would need to sideboard. Cause I have no idea what's being played in your area. Best thing I can say is figure out what's being played a lot in your area and put cards in the sideboard that will help you take those decks down.

well ofcourse... atm ppl are playing UW control (blade'ish decks) so im thinking of something like negate/mental misteps for sure... ratchet bombs sounds like a winner aswell... maybe steel sabotage for temp. steel decks... im not sure if i'll be putting lifes finale as side board... DoJ sounds somewhat better in my would (4 mana cost)...

thats one of the problems with the colours i have.. white have good removal, black has good removal, blue has counters... just seems hard to choose : / also would like to have room for a wurmcoil or timely reinforcements.. same with discard spells like distress... :-/

Yeah, running 3 colors is hard. I try to stick to 2 colors at most for standard. Stony Silence might be a good option. DoJ would probably work better for you. I was just thinking Extraction with Life's Finale. If you wanted some discard I would probably take out Think Twice for a discard card.

so i've made a few changes now... also added a draft of the sideboard i was thinking... should be able to change the momentum of deck going more "aggro"...

atm i'm thinking about:
* loosing ponder for 2 something else... (elesh norn and a buriel rites ?)
* changing negate for flash freeze SB... (wolf ramps, RDW)
* giving the landbase a make over (seems messy with way to much "ETBT"... :( )

Ponder is a great card. And can really give you an edge when you're up against the wall. Since Jace, the Mind Sculptor was banned, then rotated out. I use 3 Ponder in my Tezzeret Control deck. They come in really handy.

If it were me, I'd do this.
-3 Think Twice
+2 Unburial Rites
+1 Elesh Norn

Changes look really good. Sideboard looks pretty solid. I like it.

atm i'm a bit hesitant about adding unburial rites + elesh, though i am thinking about it. doing so would change the deck to solar flare with graveyard hate mainboard instead of sideboard... which really wasnt the original idea of the deck...

i think im gonna play test this for starters and see how it runs, and take it from there...

Sounds good to me. Play testing is always the best route when you're unsure about what to do. Be sure to let us all know how it turns out.

Sorry it took so long for me to get to this one, but I do get to check you off my list now =]

It looks good, and does have a slight hybrid-Solar Flare look to it. I've never cared for the 3rd Jace (not just because I wish they'd move on to a new blue 'walker...) So maybe you could ditch the 2 of them. Traft is freakin amazing, so another one might not hurt.

I'm admittedly pretty out of the loop with Standard, so I apologize if I can't help as much as usual. It's just gotten so boring over the last few years and even though Innistrad is great...I keep making Legacy and Modern builds with the cards =P

i know about the hybrid solar flare thing going on, and that wasnt intentionally... i was looking for U/W or U/B control decks and couldnt make up my mind, so it came out esper...

and so far it seems to be the problem, with the current lands available in std (or just my landbase, dont know) there's not the flow in the mana as i would like... : / tried different setups and by turn 5 i always come up with either 1w or 1b short of what i would like... : /

cutting 3rd jace? hmm, he is one of my draw-machines, and also milling oppenent 10 cards for SE fodder seems great as well as putting a potential 5 turn clock on my oppenent...

traft was one of the beaters i just couldnt make my self to cut when i had acces to U/W mana... same with the suntitan/image... but im not sure i want more than one... sure it could be cool to increase the chance of drawing him, but with sphinx i should have plenty of drawpower to get to him... and if i draw him early he is just a threat that, if destroyed, is waiting to get back with suntitan..

once i get to playtesting i am considering: -1 Se -1 Grasp +2 unberial rites... just to complete the solarflare arch type... seing as it helps getting titans/sphinx in play faster... and also makes it "ok" for me to discard one of my larger creatures...

suggestions comments? : /
