Deck Description

I know that I didn't include Duress, Despise, or Inquisition of Kozilek in the main deck. My goal is to empty out the opponent's hand fast.

Deck discussion for Mono Black Discard (legacy)

With your main effort being to empty your opponents hand. Cards like "Quest for the Nihil Stone" and "Nyxathid" are going to be your best friend. Swapping the totem for the latter seems a good bet. "Cry of Contrition" is also going to play well in this especially with your kill cards.

Quest for the Nihil stone is great thank you for bringing it to my attention. I'm still going to be running black sun so I don't think Nyxathid will work as well as the totems. I like cry of contrition if i was running more creatures of my own. Raven's crime gives me a little more play of when i want to reuse it. I saw you have dream salvage which I've never heard off and i think that is brilliant. Thank you again for the advice.

I agree. I can see why you've only got one creature, and the totems help to make up for that, but what's with the scroll? Plus you're gonna need more board removal than just the zeniths and the verdicts if you really are gonna keep your creature count so low. How about a set of damnations? They should do the trick. Plus if they do manage to get creatures out somehow (i.e. graveborn), you're gonna want that spirit, or a totem out fast. Maybe chuck in a few tutors of some kind to ensure you get what you want. Good use of smallpox by the way though, works perfectly in this deck. ;)

The scrolls are for target removal and at some points of the game contestant 2 damage every turn. I've had a lot of games where I'm holding 2 lands after the arena goes off the cursed scroll helps me at least do something with it. I was thinking I had to much board removal and not enough discard. I like black sun more so then damnation in the price cost, that would money wise not mana wise, and black sun gets to go back for reuse. Even if the counters don't kill all of the creatures on the board, it still weakens them for as long as they stay on the board. The geth's verdicts, tribute to hunger, smallpox, and scrolls all help in dealing with more creature heavy decks. That and any creatures or land that get discarded always help too. If i really have problems with certain creatures I usually sideboard in despise or inquisition while taking out raven's crime and wrench mind. Thank you for the help and the compliment.

If this is a legacy deck get some good legacy cards! Ensnaring bridge will keep you safe since your only running one creature. Dark rituals are 100% flavorful and the speed is insane. Iv had games start where I can cast dark ritual turn 1, and drop three target cards from their hand. turn two, with the right set up, you can clear out the hand easily.
Dark ritual also lets you get out things like Painful quandry (they have to take the damage if they have nothing to discard) and blood gift demon has an intersting utility option, even if its expensive: It lets you choose who draws and loses a life. Nihl stone not have enough counters? Have them draw and use the otherwise dead cards in your hand.
Check out my legacy discard I've cooked up. It always turns heads when I use it.
