Deck Description

[MASSIVE UPDATE! See bottom for changes!]

If patience is a virtue, then you get to be godlike.

If you've ever wanted to play the least stressful (for you) game of MtG in your life, then this will be your vacation.

If you've ever wanted to frustrate your opponent into tapping out / quitting, then this deck is for you.

This is a slow deck, and one that makes your opponent(s) think killing you is going to be too easy. Then WHAM! Platinum Emperion hits the scene, and suddenly any smirking across the table goes away. Soon it's realized that you are hexproof, your Platinum Emperion is either Hexproof or Shrouded, and you have enough removal and salvage to make sure your life total doesn't change again.

The win-cons are to let your opponent(s) mill out / deck out, or be killed by flyers, or let Tezzeret electrocute them, dealing double the number of artifacts to target opponent. Chances are, he'll live to do it over and over again. Any opponent, however, probably won't.

==== CHANGES 03OCT2014=====
Spiffmeister got me thinking about this deck a little more, as did EagleEye on another artifact deck. So I dug through some stashes, and came up with the following changes now in effect:
-2 Dimir Guildgate - Land
-2 Darksteen Citadel - Land
+4 Rogue's Passage - Land
+1 Tezerret the Seeker - Planeswalker
-1 Mystic Veil - Sorcery (with flash)
+2 Neurok Stealthsuit - Artifact Equipment
-2 Duskmantle Seer - Creature
+1 Prophetic Prism - Artifact (mana filter)
-1 Vessel of Endless Rest - Artifact (mana producer)

The only black left in the deck is Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, and I have four different ways to obtain that one black mana. By the way, 5 mana casts anything in the deck except Platinum Emperion and Darksteel Forge.

How to Play

Get a Fog Bank or two out as quickly as possible, then Mystic Veil it to prevent removal. If you take damage, DO NOT PANIC! I have *no trouble* going down to 5 life, or even lower, knowing that Platinum Emperion will put a halt to that. Indeed, I've intentionally taken damage down that low to build my opponent's confidence and attitude just so it can shatter that much harder when they realize they've been duped into a lull; my defenses were laid without much notice.

Once PE is safe, you don't have to worry much about anything; there is a limited number of options for your opponent, especially when your second PE hits the battlefield, and maybe the third or fourth. Killing you with damage or life loss just isn't going to work.

Once PE is out on the battlefield, it will be target #1. Mystic Veil it if possible, as quickly as possible. However, there is plenty of protection available to help keep it safe. And with four of them, even if you lose it you'll probably get to cast another quickly. Meanwhile your little army is getting stronger and scarier.

Bident of Thrassa is a great way to remove your opponent's threats once you get your Platinum Emperion out by forcing your opponent to attack with all his or her creatures. If they don't have Vigilance, then all, or nearly all, of his or her creatures will be tapped and unavailable for blockers, letting the Raven Guild Mages do their nasty deeds, or any of your other creatures - including PE - swing.

Only if you want, though. If you want to chill, and just sit back drawing then discarding, have a ball relaxing and taunting your opponent. With two Elixir of Immortality artifacts, you can sit and recycle your graveyard into your library for as long as it exists.

Deck discussion for What Are You Waiting For?

This is brilliant! I love the ways you can get you Emperion out rather early and how you have plenty of wincons in the deck! Perhaps some more shroud/hexproof for your Empirion could be useful? Or have you found it you have plenty of that?

Either way, kudos! Very fine deck!

Thank you very much!!

For protecting Emperion, the deck actually does a pretty good job of it plus retrieving it from the graveyard if need be. But with four of them, I often have a spare in my hand. If I would change anything, I'd add a couple Neurok Stealthsuits, which are super cheap and provides Shroud/Counter at instant speed for 2 Blue. They'd replace one Mystic Veil and one Elixir or Immortality.

Glad you like it, and thanks for the comment!

Cheers,
Robert~
