Deck Description

Black deck composed mainly of Vampires, varying spells that destroy creatures while subtracting opponent life/giving you life and some Nightmares thrown in to act as the "big hitters" if needed. Artifacts help ensure hit points stay up.

The deck is clearly not Standard, it is more for casual/fun games.

Any and all comments or thoughts/edits are welcome.

Deck discussion for Vampire's Delight

try to cut down to 60 cards to improve consistancy of the deck

Thanks crackerjack. I agree with you - I do like to have decks smaller than this one. I have found that this deck can work well both in this format (i.e. almost 80 cards) or in a format where the card count is in the mid-60s (dropping out some artifacts and spells).

yeah, that would be my more specific suggestion i guess (drop some artifacts and spells) but if it works out better with a higher card count, then i guess keep it :P

The deck plays well, but I agree with the others that it really should be cut down some. It plays like you rely to much on only a couple of certain cards and it takes to long to get them into play with this size deck. Otherwise I liked the concept.

Okay, I am liking this feedback. I have specific cards that I would select to take out, but I'd like to hear what you guys think. Which cards would you drop?

I would take out both Fountain of youth and Ivory tower. Vamp decks tend to be aggro and both of those cards do not sync well with an aggro deck. Vampire Nocturnus is core in a vamp deck and I would add one more night hawk, such a great card. I would bump blade of the bloodchief up to 4 as well, its a monster of a card when paired with creature destruction. Sanguine Bond is always fun in a life gain deck and with Blood Tribute its a potential turn 6 win. Ascendant Evincar is a good sideboard card as well with Doom Blade and Deathmark covering your cheap creature removal to boost up blade of the bloodchief. And as everyone else said, try to bring it closer to 60 cards for more fluid well synced card drops.

To cut it down I was thinking the following:

Remove:
-Fountain of Youth
-Ivory Tower
-Zuran Orb
-2 Fear
-2 Raise Dead
-2 Howl from Beyond
-1 Dark Ritual

Ivory Tower et al. are currently in the deck because the person I play most against is running a Direct Damage deck, so if a few Lightning Bolts and others come out early, I end up losing hit points very fast. Tower, Fountain and Orb keep me more "in the game". I could side-board them.... Do we think that is a better idea?

That would drop it to 69 cards. I considered Vampire Nocturnus but withheld it because I was close to 80 cards already and had been playing a Vamp deck without him that was doing well. I could add him back now, but then that gets the card count higher again. Same thing with adding 2 more Blade of the Bloodchief in.

I like this feedback. More please! What cards should be added/dropped?

Okay, changes have been made based on comments. Some Artis and Dark Ritual/Drain Life have been sideboarded based on who I am playing (see my issue with the Direct Damage person I play).

What do we think?

id take out bone throne and add paradise plume. that way you gain life without tapping mana AND you get to tap it for black mana, AND you get to draw a card when you play it.
