Deck Description

What can you say? Newbies just love some good old sacrifice!

I mostly use MTG Vault for my own private projects nowadays, but feel free to comment or request a deck of your choice. I've loved the Vault so far, and I like that they are still improving on it, as well as I am improving on my English language skills.

So, if you like what you see, consider checking out some of my other budget-y work from the link below.

How to Play

Drop some small creatures, then sacrifice them for some various benefits!

To play this deck, a player should know the basic rulings of Magic: The Gathering. In addition, this deck includes some useful keywords and abilities, which are listed below:
- Flying. As present in Cadaver Imp, creatures with flying cannot be blocked by other creatures without flying and reach, meaning they are often efficient attackers! They can still block enemy creatures without flying, unless otherwise specified.
- A +1/+1 counter. Found on Mortician Beetle, +1/+1 counters are more or less permanent modifications on creatures. A creature gets +1 to its power and toughness for each +1/+1 counter on it. If the creature leaves the battlefield for any reason and returned to play later on, it will return WITHOUT any +1/+1 counters on it. It is suggested to use dice to mark these counters on your creatures!
- Token. A card may generate tokens, which function similarly to any other card in play, except they are gone forever as soon as they leave the battlefield. Liliana's Devotee and Open the Graves generate 2/2 black zombie tokens, meaning they generate 2/2 creatures under your control with their effects. It is suggested to have some spare cards (either official tokens or pretty much any other cards outside of your deck) to represent these tokens while on the battlefield. Just make sure everyone understands how many tokens you have, what power/toughness values they have and whether they are tapped or not, etc.

So, this deck wins by sacrificing its creatures for value. Mortician Beetle may start out small, but it will quickly grow up to be a force to be reckoned with if it gets left alone! In addition to the beetle, Liliana's Devotee and Open the Graves can rather quickly fill out your board with expendable attackers. When all else fails, consider leeching life from your opponents using cards like Serrated Scorpion, Gnawing Zombie, and Vindictive Vampire!

The sideboard contains cards that can inspire you towards different playstyles, as soon as you feel comfortable playing this deck. Adding 3x Eternal Taskmaster and 3x Lord of the Accursed can help you shift your deck towards a zombie-themed deck, while Vermin Gorger and Voracious Vermin are just generally good cards in a deck centered around sacrificing creatures. If you feel like it, you can also consider turning this deck towards sort-of-a-lifegain-focused deck, with Vermin Gorger and Bloodthirsty Aerialist being considerable choices. Try and see which strategies you like the most!

Deck discussion for BD: Rookie's Razer

Feels like Grave Pact would be a natural fit, especially for casual where there are lots of critters. Mono black makes it easy to run.
Might be a bit pricey.

Yeah. Cheapest version that my local store has is 14.40 Aus, so goes a little against the Budget part of the deck, but is actually a good card to add in the future!
