Deck Description

In my current meta, a lot of my friends play blue control paired with other colors (usually 3 either black, green, or white). My current Ghave deck works wonders in multiplayer, but have problems in 1v1 duel situations. I'm designing this deck to duel vs a lot of highly tuned decks (lots of dual lands) with tons of control (without resorting to have more/better control that them).

Although this deck can be tagged as control, it is a different kind of control, as this type of control relies on heavy aggro and protection and spells to screw counters and targeted removal, ramps, and such.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, not only in what to put IN, but more so, what to take OUT. I want it to be as competitive as possible.

Thanks.

How to Play

More that a HOW TO PLAY, more of a description of what the deck relies on.

Radha is the commnader as not only she's cheap on this Gruul colors, but grants consistent mana acceleration, and early commander damage.

Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon, screw with 3 colored tunned deks that don't play red, as almost every land they have is dual or fetch ergo non-basic.

Leyline of Lifeforce, Vexing Shusher, Gaea's Herald, Spellbreaker Behemoth, and even Thrun are there to survive the heavy counters I'm facing.

On that topic, Citadel of Pain, City of Solitude, Dosan, The Falling Leaf, Price of Glory are there to allow me to play confortably on my turn without worrying to much, no more playing on blue's terms.

Asceticism, Ezuri, Eladamri, Akroma's Memorial, and such, are for protection of targeted removal/destruction, as it is more usual on my meta than mass destruction (although there is mass destruction), for that we have Caller of the Claw, Praetor's Counsel, Spearbreaker Behemoth, and regeneration unless they used Damnation/Wrath of God.

Tutoring, and draw, are managed by Tooth and Nail, Green Sun Zenith, Primal Command, Worldly Tutor and such, even Genesis Wave, and Lurking Predators work as draw indirectly.

Aggro/Combat is managed by Haste cards like Urabrask, Hammer of Purphoros, Fires of Yavimaya, Garruk, Ezuri, even Nylea and some escential equipmets.

Lastly mana ramp is helped a ton by mana elfs, incluiding your commander and the godlike ramp of Oracle of Mul Daya, and Vorinclex.

Any comments are welcome and appreciated.

Deck discussion for Radha, Duel Anti Control

I really like your deck thus far, the only thing I can think of to improve this deck is to take out slate of ancestry, and instead run scroll rack.

Nice adition!! Dunno how I din't think of that. I'll include it and put the Slate of Ancestry on Sideboard.

Thing is Scroll Rack does not give me actual draw, and Slate of Ancestry does when you have no hand left. I'll est both. Thank you for the advice.

Your welcome, I did some more looking and sadly there really isn't any great card drawing artifacts out there (yet). And I don't know what your opponents run land wise, but you might want to look into tsabo's web.

If given enough Mana Acceleration with the elves... How about Tower of Fortunes?

You would really want to see that mid to late game, but that actually may work. This is to the point where you would just have to play your deck out and by trial and error figure what works best for your deck. And that's what I love about MTG and this site, in it's own unique way turns into a fun probability/ scientific/ social experiment.

I really like this. I've been wanting to build an EDH deck that is anti-counter, because that is what I always lose to at my local shop. You really need a Cavern of Souls in this deck. Also, I think it would be fun to play a Chalice of the Void in this deck... cast it with 4 mana, so that it counters all future 2 casting spells. That would hose a lot of blue counter spells and let them have a taist of their own medicine! While you have many ways of working around the Chalice countering your 2 casting spells.

Yeah I already added Cavern of Souls, great target for elves. Chalice of the Void feels situational cause for the time you may have it, it is useless and not easy to tutor on this deck (lots of creature tutors). And common counters on my meta include Glen Elendra Archmage and Cryptic Command.

Another thing is Citadel of Solitude and Dosan make you invulnerable to counters, while Citadel of Pain and Price of Glory makes them pay a high price for them.

I'd take out Sword of Vengence, Is it really helping you? Also, have you considered Ruination? It is another great way of hosing multi lands

Thanks for the tips, Monsoon has not been working that well either (cause of dual lands, maybe put Ruination), Sword of Vengeance is a pretty good drop but I guess it can be switched for another sword (Fire and Ice) as draw is something the deck is lacking.

Blood Moon, and Magus of the Moon are already despicable in the deck, Land hate would make it evil, LOL. That is why I sideboarded almost all of it.

Yeah, if you want more nasty land hate, I love orcish settler. My meta almost rage quits when I play my Krenko EDH - and I get a lot of the land destruction out of it.
