150th Deck Celebration

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

The basic idea of deck is use Earthcraft + Squirrel's Nest to make lots of tokens then use Mass Polymorph to turn the tokens into something good.

Help me celebrate my 150th deck by giving suggestions for other creatures I could use instead of Relentless Rats.

Intuition to help find combo. Boseiju, Who Shelters All to help protect casting of combo. Fertile Ground to help smooth over any mana color problems and can create infinite any color mana with earthcraft + squirrel's nest combo. Show and Tell as an alternative way to put into play any of the creatures you suggest.

To all the nice people who have commented on my decks. Thanks.

And special shout out to
Seras for helping know if a combo was legal or not
Kazzong for being my biggest fan
DedWards, dagbaker, Edna, ruskedbucket for all their helpful comments on my decks and others
surewhynot, EthanLewis, WhiteAndBlueTheyKillYou, and raggedjoe, heliosofcows for creating great decks to inspire me and others

Deck discussion for 150th Deck Celebration

Congrats on 150 decks man =]

As for a creature, popping out a Jin-G would greatly help to slow down any kind of response the opponent might have.

Other possible ideas would be things like Vela, Twilight Drover, and/or Extractor Demon to take advantage of Mass Poly's other effect =]

Thanks surewhynot,

It was your 100th and One Fiddy Celebration! that spurred me on to create my own big list of decks.

I'll switch in your suggestions.

surewhynot,

For some unknown reason can't add Vela the Night-Clad through either the add card or mass import.

Mass Import gives this messsage
Could not parse / find card on row: 1 with details 1 Vela the Night-Clad , please add manually.

Perhaps Planeschase cards need to be added to the database?

The Mass Import requires the card to be spelt as it is on the Vault's database. I once accidentally left out a comma (my mistake) and the mass import refused to add the card. So that may be the problem.

DedWards,

Don't think its the spelling. I tried partial wording like Vela, Night, Clad, and even misspelling Vala and Vele, Night Clad, etc.... and nothing seems to work.

I think I've figured it out. She's a Planechase 2012 card and the cards only printed in Planechase 2012 may not be added to Vault's database yet.

Yeah they haven't yet added in any planechase 2012 stuff. Sorry should have mentioned that =/

Hey
I know that you ask for creatures, but maybe Parallel Lives could be good in this deck?

Hi CrazyFox,

Welcome to the Vault.

I realize you are new to the Vault (6 posts is the give away). You also must be a fairly new player
otherwise you'd know Earthcraft + Squirrel's Nest combo is capable of making infinite tokens on turn 3.
I don't really need double infinite tokens. So please suggest the biggest and meanest creature you can think of that hasn't already been suggested to replace Relentless Rats.

I look forward to your suggestion,

Planestalker

Ooooh... i'm sorry I didn't realize it haha... (and yes I am a new player (less than 2 months and new to the Vault too)
I think that Khalni Hydra could be good even if you don't have your Mass Polymorph...? And it is a powerfull creature due to its trample and its 8/8
And thank you for the welcome :p

Nice combo. Only creatures I can think of adding are creatures that are often added to reanimator decks or bomb creatures like 4x Bogardon Hellkite of 4x Kojusho, the Evening Star.

If you'd like to try this combo in Modern, I have an elf combo that can put out infinite elf tokens:
Rhys, the Redeemed equipped with Umbral Mantle + Heritage Druid + (about) 9 elf tokens (Elvish Promenade helps with that).
What you do is tap 6 elf tokens to Heritage Druid's ability and use that 6 green mana on Rhys to double the tokens. Tap another 3 tokens to activate Umbral Mantle, this'll untap Rhys allowing you to repeat the process. Once you got the requires number of elf tokens, Mass Polymorph :p

Hi DedWards,

I like the Bogardan Hellkite idea. It reminds me of another Hellkite that would be good, Hellkite Hatchling, which could come into play without aid from Mass Polymorph or Show and Tell and still be
mega powerful and tough after swallowing a couple gazillion squirrel tokens;-))

Thanks for the suggestions and why don't you post your elf deck idea and I'll give comments and suggestions!?! ;-]]

The Hatchling would be cool in this, except for the colour requirement...

The new dragon coming out in M13, Thundermaw Hellkite, would be another 'bomb' that yopu could consider, I'm wanting 4 for my Dragonstorm deck :D

That elf deck as been modified since and no longer uses the Umbral Mantle, so there's no 'free' untappaing of Rhys :( I'll see if I can remember what was in the deck and post it, but not tonight, I need to make a Standard deck for FNM :|

DedWards,
Yeah, the red requirement for the Hatchling made me modify the mana base by adding Fertile Ground and taking out Culling the Weak. This may slow my ability to cast Mass Polymorph on turn 4 or 5 but it does have the advantage of smoothing my color base and providing an infinite color mana combo with earthcraft + squirrel nest turn 5 or 6 ;-))

Took out 4 Autumn's Veil so more Vault members may suggest additional creatures to replace Relentless Rats. So suggest away!!!

Just remembered another "bomb" you could add - Blood Artist + a sac outlet. I've lost a match up because of a combo of Blood Artist and Day of Judgment in a token production deck:|

have you considered Abundant Growth over Fertile Grounds, it's cheaper, let's you draw a card only weakness it produces less mana, but if you have earthcraft and squirrel nest out it doesn't matter anymore

I think a Coat of Arms might make things fun if you want to drag the game out for sh*ts and giggles, I myself have never had the pleasure of saying, "and now I attack with my infinite infinity-1/infinity-1 squirrels...

Hi Flyingpiggies,

Well obviously you've never use infinite mana with Nemata, Grove Guardian to make infinite-1 saprolings with infinite-1 powerfuland infinite -1 toughnes. But sure why not adding 1 Coat of Arms just for the fun it. If you'd like to suggest a creatureto replace a rat would look forward to your suggestion.

How about a creature that gives your creatures haste like Urabrask?

Haste actually sounds like a VERY good idea.

I agree it would be a good idea, and you can add Craterhoof Behemoth? So your creatures will have trample and a lot of counter haha

Wait for it, wait for it....

CONCORDANT CROSSROADS!

Green haste for everyone that hits the board turn 1. That should solve the haste issue, dont you think? Hows that for forgotten cards?

heliosofcows,

Thanks for the suggestion. Like Urabrask the Hidden adding haste too bad it doesn't tap all opponent's creatures already in play.

and Crazy Fox,

Thanks for the suggestion. The Craterhoof Behemoth is a very nice useful addition.

Rustedbucket,

Thanks for the the suggestion. I especially like it because in group games opponent's sort of like having Concordant Crossroads out and tend not to remove it. Just like if you played a howling mine.

Dauros312,

Nice try,
The pennon blade is cute but it only affects one creature. Could get same general effect for less mana by
using Squirrel mob or possibly Sadistic Glee. And the Coat of Arms buffs all the creatures better.
Feel free to suggest something else.

U should add relentless rats. Lol. But pennon blade, might be good.

You know as I think about this deck I could replace some stuff for more efficient cards and provide other
alternative win conditions.

Squirrel mob could replace Hellkite Hatchling. 3 mana istead of 4 mana
Goblin Bombardment could replace Bogardan Hellkite. Infinite damage versus 20 points is a no brainer.
Blood Artist. Infinite damage and infinite life gain another no brainer. Thanks DedWards.
Sterling Grove and Aura shards could be good utility cards
and finally, Nemata, Grove Guardian one of my cards to use with infinite mana to make Infinite Tokens
Altar of Dementia is always a good alternative way to win with infinite creature tokens.

Now I just have to hope opponents won't be able to use a Reins of Power against me ;-))

Shouldn't something like this be in the deck challenges area?

My preferred mass polymorph targets are: Emrakul, Ulamog, Iona, Frost Titan, sunblast angel, Elesh norn. The big eldrazi for obvious reasons, Iona, because by the time you pull off the poly you have a pretty good idea of what color you need to shut down to ensure your win. Frost Titan to tap down a critical element that will stop you from winning. Frost Titan + sunblast means you remove a key threat when you go off. Elesh because she'll buff everyone else you brought out and any further sapro armies you make while possibly clearing out a lot of their board.

1

Also see beyond, brainstorm, jtms are all great in mass poly as they allow you to put poly targets that have wound up in your hand back in your deck.

I like this a lot. my only suggestions would be parralel lives or doubling season, and any of the many red enchantments that give haste. :)

Kazzong,

You've always been my biggest fan. But sometimes you enthusiasm gets in the way of reading and careful thought.

This deck makes infinite tokens with earthcraft and squirrel's nest as early as turn 3.

Like I told CrazyFox in an earlier post on this deck.

"I don't really need double infinite tokens. So please suggest the biggest and meanest creature you can think of that hasn't already been suggested to replace Relentless Rats."

I really appreciate all your support and suggestions on all decks since you've become an active member of the Vault. And your idea about haste is a good idea. But if you read the posts there was a whole discussion about this and I added Concordant Cross roads with Sterling Grove to find it and also added Urabrask the Hidden.

I guess I could tweak the deck some more and reduce some creatures to add more Sterling Groves and Concordant Cross roads, but since this is a celebration deck I'd rather include all the suggested creatures even though it is at the cost of the deck's consistancy.

Look forward to celebrating your 50th deck soon.

well, true that I seemed to have missed the comments, and was commenting on the deck that I saw posted. I should have read all of the previous posts.
Thought I did but I guess that I must have missed that when I skimmed over them. and yes I know that the deck makes infinite toekns turn 3, but Ifigured that hey, since it is gonna be an over the top deck anyways... why not make it even more so, just to be funny. :)

congratulations. i was looking through my squirrel deck, and while I know they are not really the same, i might give ashnod's alter a try. it is at least another way to win by providing tons of mana and it will also work as a sacrifice engine for the cards that need it. happy stomping! :D

one quick question, why no planeswalker?

Check out my deck, im new to magic and this is the first deck i build from cards i had not just boughten the way it was- http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=356808

Hi TheGusBus,

Why no planeswalker?

Well no planestalker is needed.

Most of the creatures either can become infininte power/infinite toughness or make tokens infinite power infinite toughness or help do infinite damage. The exceptions are Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur which gives great card advantage and Khalni Hydra which is likely to be a 8/8 trampler cast for free and Urabrask the Hidden which give all my creatures haste.

Yeah, earthcraft + squirrel's nest is broken. But this deck is for casual group game and this combo is mild compared to some other stuff pulled in my casual group games.
