Alpha Strike Males

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (7 cards)

Creatures (3)

Sorceries (1)

Instants (2)

Enchantments (1)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

This is a quick one I've thrown together. It's all about Alpha Status:
"Enchanted creature gets +2/+2 for each other creature on the battlefield that shares a creature type with it."

And to a lesser extent about Bramblewood Paragon. I wanted to focus on creatures with two or 3 creatures types that are commonly used in order to maximize the Alpha Status. Then I focussed on creatures with trample since it doesn't win you the game if you have a 20/20 dude that can be stopped dead by random blockers. Which lead me to the Paragon which happens to be an elven warrior, so my search was narrowed down to mostly warriors.

Here are the synergies and inner workings in detail:

The Paragon beefs up any new warriors. The Drumhunters provide more cards once you Alpha Statussed someone. Paragon also means that warriors with persist will come back indefinately, so I might want to have more Scuzzback Marauders.
The Bubble Matrix is there to protect my creatures. It also protects the opponent ones but that's okay because they all provide extra muscles for my Alpha Status guy and I'll just trample over them anyway. That's also the reason why I don't run any creature removal. Archetype of Agression removes trample from opponent's creatures so that they can't overrun me.

WHAT I NEED:
* Mana Base needs some work, no need to comment on that unless you know a non-basic with special abilities that fits the theme. I can probably go down the total land count somewhat once I added some duals/fetchies of sort because Werebears and Drumhunter also provide mana.
* Talking about Werebears, I do probably not need 4 of them. BTW, they are actually Humans in addition to Druid and Bear.
* No lifegain yet and no artifact/enchantment removal. This would usually mean adding Fracturing Gust but that would kill my Bubble Matrix, too, which I feel are quite essential. (it would also kill Alpha Status but if I have an Alpha Status'd creature, it will either be killed, the Status disenchanted or it'll win me the game) Also:
* No flyers yet, not even creatures with reach. Normally a case for Whirlwind but as I said, killing creatures robs me off potential Alpha Status boni. Maybe SPidersilk Armour?
* I have currently no way at all to react to crerature spot removal or single target creature neutralizers. So, if someone repsonds with a Path to Exile to my Alpha Status or if somebody has something like an Maze of Ith, I am fucked. I need something that gives a creature of min shroud or something similar. The other option would be to deny my opponents the opportunity to respond at all, that's why there is Dosan, but I'd need more. I do have 3 City of Solitude but they are in another deck. (Edit: replaced 2 Bubble Matrix with Swiftwind Boots and Veilstone Amulet, so this problem might be fixed now)
* And in the case something goes wrong, I might also need a backup plan for retaliation attacks. Could use some Fog variants but I am also considering Master Warcraft which can be used both offensively and defensively. I am leaning towards the Warcraft since it can win games on it's own.
* DON'T SUGGEST COAT OF ARMS, I hate that card and consequently don't have one.

As always, we don't use sideboards, cards in the sideboard are cards I consider adding!

How to Play

Don't attack much early on, you don't want to annoy anybody. Always try to keep a Bubble Matrix out. It will help your opponent, too, however, the more creatures in play, the more potent the Alpha Status will be!
Try to not play Alpha Status until you can win or kill somebody in one swing!
Commune with Gods is mainly there to find Alpha Status, so if you happen to reveal both creatures and Alpha Status, take the enchantment.
Relic of Progenitus is a metagame choice for my playgroup. If you feel you won't need, you can always just pop it and draw a card, so it replaces itself.

Deck discussion for Alpha Strike Males

You know...you do me a service (and a few other people on here) by listing drawn out details of your deck. I have a theory...that goes like this, most top/hot decks have very, very basic descriptions. Also the top/hot decks, most of them, you can easily make recommendations to.

With your decks, and mine...when we write out 2 books worth of information...people are scared to recommend changes, scared to mess up your combos, your synergy. They assume that you really know your stuff, and are very "smart" for writing so much. So they just skip your decks over.

I think they think this, "This guy has really taking a lot of time with this deck...let me not rock the boat."

And thus...you, for example, have a lot of kick ass decks with 0 or 1 likes. And at the same time..a lot of half ass decks like 15 or more likes.

Regardless, I very much, enjoy your deck descriptions.

Going to take my two sons snake/tortoise/wildlife hunting this morning.

Let me get back with you about cards that may work.

Two red/green cards I recommend, for most red/green decks are manamorphose (it could secure that mana base, and it lets you draw a card, not too shabby). And Hull Breach. I got where I try to add, in the main deck itself (and not the sideboard), artifact/destruction hate. So I would add Hull Breach, but i see where you have it covered in the sideboard.

Lightning Greaves for the shroud. Regrowth, maybe, to return your Alpha Strike.

Will have to look at it better, later.

I like it.

Check out a few that I just made...the Artifact Coating is your type of tricky deck. So is the Mirror Entity deck.
Tried to go back to a more pure deck/design with the haste deck, trample deck, and discard deck. lol

Oh, I have several theories myself. Yes, some might be intimidated to suggest anything or might not be able to come up with worthwhile suggestions (I dxplain in detail what I need but the fact that I am stuck usually means there aren't many viable options), however, that doesn't explain why they don't click the "like" button or, at least, leave a comments like "cool deck, bro", which so many other decks get for less.

So, my theory is more along the line that too elaborate (=lengthy!) explanations have the opposite effect of what I try to accomplish: People all go tl;dr and move on. Same is most likely true for the decklist. I include many 1-ofs. So, the average reader will either a) think it is a bad deck without actually checking all cards, b) be overwhelmed by so many different cards and incapable of evaluating the deck as a whole or c) flat out refuse to look all cards up (I build unsual decks and use cards of all eras, including unknown ones). A lot of that could be summed up with laziness.

Now add to that other factors: It's not only that not-so-well thought out decks open up more opportunities to comment on, it's also that controversial or flat out bad suggestions will generate more replies and those replies yet more replies. Unfortunately, most users don't browse decks by tags or actual content, they go by "hot", "most popular" and "active" decks - which, of course, keeps the same decks "hot", "popular" and "active while others are left to rot. And once you posted in a deck, you automatically subscribed to it - each new reply pings everybody else that has already left a comment. Even if that comment was "oh, yet another goblin deck, how boring) ...

... which is actually a lot how the pop industry works, no matter if movies, music or whatever.

Anyway, to your suggestions:
Manamorphose is indead nice and I like to use it a lot since it is basically air in your deck (completely sustains itself), I have just all of them up in other decks and am reluctant to get more because they are continueally rising in price. Well, maybe that's a reason to get more NOW ...
Hull Breach, yes, I used to play those, however, for spot removal I prefer instant speed and the main problem is that card slots are valuable. That Hull Breach could have been another creature ... which lets me think I'd probably be better off with a creature that has the same effect. Indrik Stomphowler? Would be a Beast and therefore supports Rhox but ... hm, Qasali Pridemage is a cat wizard :P too bad, he would be marvellous in this.

Lightning Greaves would be good in theory if it wasn't for the fact that if my creature has shroud, I can't cast Alpha Status on it anymore :P But thx for making me think this through to the end, I'll update the deck description that I actually need hexproof, not shroud. Shielding Plax maybe. Or Privileged Position? Asceticism! Bought!

True story...you are dead right about looking at decks and seeing a lot of cards with only 1 card.

For me...i was hammered with, "if it is good enough to put in a 60 card deck, then it is good enough to run 3 or 4 copies."

Hell, just recently have i allowed myself to have just 2 cards of a single card.

And you are right...i see a lot of one ofs...then i see a small book worth of material written by the producer of the deck...and i think, "this guy has got his stuff down pat, no reason in me trying to read all of this and to make suggestions, because he probably has already considered the cards i am going to suggest anyways."

And thus...half ass decks get 20 likes and good decks get passed over.

"if it is good enough to put in a 60 card deck, then it is good enough to run 3 or 4 copies."
Which isn't a bad advise and most of the time true if your plan is to win a tournament. But when you build casual decks, you have different goals, which may include "be creative" and "use more cards of your collection, not just the same 5% over and over".

Glaring Spotlight doesn't work :P Alpha Authority is a nice card but probably not suitable here (not reusable - all eggs into one basket syndrome). But the Boots would :) Will have to trade for them, though.

I admire you...with having to drive so far to play anyone (about 30 miles), with a limited income (kids)...the 5 or 6 times a year I get to play...I have to bring my A game.

I see your point, though. Boredom of same cards, same decks, same ideas. And it helps to expand your mind and ideas. You are lucky.

Never been good with Warrior tribal. I don't know what to add here. I guess Door of Destinies could help a bit, but I'm not sure.

It's not really a warrior tribal, there are more synergies than that. But the deck I need help with is actually this one:

Speaking of free advertising, building a Spreading Algae/Copy Enchantment deck...with stuff like Reef Shaman to turn their lands into swamps, and stuff like Dream's Grip to tap their lands. Thinking Dingus Egg and Invisible Stalker will be the win cards.

Will send a link when it is done. Need tons of help on it.

Okay, guys, I suggest the following:
The regulars here like me, Jessie, Dragon77 and Northi each make a deck called "Help" or something. And when you need help, you drop a single post with link THERE and nowhere else.

Here the link of my HelpThread:
http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/puschkin-please-help-me/

Please go there if you need help and stop spamming in my decks. And maybe make a similar thread of your own where people can request your help.

Have you thought about Mirror Entity? That could be pretty useful for the creature type bonus.

To be honest I haven't checked any of the changelings yet but the reason for that is that Lorwyn is one of the very few sets that I never bought. (That's a lot of "that"s ^^).
Mirror Entity and Taurean Mauler look promising. I will have to trade for them, though.

BTW, I added the Taurean Mauler and it kicked serious ass! :)

It seems already well shaped, just a bit rough around the edges... Spot removal for artifacts/enchantments in RG? Destructive Revelry will always be my answer. Master Warcraft is a good idea since you need to avoid a scenario were your pumped Alpha is blocked by a ton of flies, so, something like Battlefront Krushok or Familiar Ground?
Oh and i love the idea of Bramblewood Paragon + Scuzzback Marauders!!!

Thanks. This was mainly a test if someone is able to use the "VaultHelp" tag ;)

What about Nettle Sentinel? You don't have any one drops besides the two Relic of Progenitus, and most of your cards are either green or green-red, so he will be untapping most turns. Also, he's a warrior, so he guts a buff from the Paragon. You could have Avoid Fate in your sideboard (or mainboard I guess) as a way to stop your creatures from dying, maybe.

Maybe if this was for 1-on-1, but this is for multiplayer. In MP guys like Nettle Sentinel are outclassed way too fast. Even then I would probably add Wild Nacatl instead. And multiplayer means no sideboard ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, though. Always happy to get any response. BTW, as I wrote above, I only gave this deck the "VaultHelp" tag to see if users are able to use it properly, so gratz :D I currently don't need help on decks, but of course feel free to browse them anyway. I just love to discuss decks, cards and strategies.
