Deck Description

This is another deck of mine that is directly from the vaults. I did not even realize that it is not finished, that means that I played with a 95 card deck. I was playing bad magic. Anyhow, that means that if anyone leaves a decent, specific comment about what should go in to make the deck complete then I will prolly put that card or those cards in the deck. I don't know how I epic failed when I was brewing this deck but I did so leave a comment. Okay after posting the description ( everything before this sentence) I did some research and saw some different decks that use doran as a general. If anyone wants to leave a comment I want to stay close to the treefolk roots (see what I did there) of the deck that I have already established (see what I did again, get it established roots). Yes I should stick with my day job, I crack myself up.

Okay so I have added enough cards and that warrants me taking off the incomplete tag I had on it. Please disregard the 2 or 3 sentences at the beginning of the paragraph above. Although I still want suggestions.

How to Play

Abolisher in this deck would help if I had doran out and was into the attack phase so that I could attack and not worry as much about spot removal directly to doran.

Deck discussion for doran

Find a way to stop Damnation, Wrath of God, or Supreme Verdict which would all ruin your day and are relatively common in EDH. Black Poplar Shaman can regenerate some of them. You just don't want to be completely crippled.
Dungrove Elder isn't bad, either. Might want to add Command Tower. Battlewand Oak, Dauntless Dourbark; those are good, too.

Very true all of them do at least temporarily ruin edh games. But in this deck it would be more difficult to stop the cards you mentioned due to the fact that I am not running blue. I will not say there is not a counter in black and white because I think there is at least one of both in those colors and I suppose I could make if not permanents indestructible then at least creatures indestructible. Other than that I am not sure what else I could do except protection from a certain color but that is fragile if you ask me and it's kinda iffy to use in edh just because you are not always completely sure what colors you will be facing, unless you just really know your playgroup and know what colors they will play on a consistent basis.

Debtors Knell and Belbe's Armor jumped right out at me. transmutation could make for some shennigans.

and i would not worry about board wipes, if it wipes you, generally it wipes everyone. you are playing the colors to take advantage of a situation like that.

You seem to focus on your creatures, but thing I love about doran is that he affects the whole board. Nameless inversion, ashnod's battlegear, Drana, kalastria bloodchief, final revels, greater werewolf, maggot therapy would all be interesting plays in a doran deck. there are others, that is just what I saw immediately. Any spell that would normally be used to rise your creature's power at a sacrifice for toughness now serves as just a way to weaken your opponent's creature's also serve as great spot removal.

on the flip side crenellated walls is a must. Eland Umbra is Doran's favourite outfit. Hold the gates gives everyone vigilance, which is nice in a deck like this.

And there is a lot of shield equipment, but i wager you saw those and decided there were better options.

There is also an old card i remember called Frankenstein's monster. he would be beast if you cast him after a board wipe.

I have been trying decide if I want my GWB deck to be doran or ghave... doran is looking more and more fun now.

Frankenstein's monster is not a beast he would be a monster no a zombie, I know what you meant and he would be amazing, similar to a sutured ghoul. I have the knell and I that would be a way to recover after mass creature kill. Belbe's armor is darn good but another card I don't have. I think I would just interested in increasing the defense of my creatures for this particular build. I agree the crenellated wall is a great card along with the umbra. I have been looking for some other cards to add, think I want to keep the theme as treefolk if I can. Again many thanks Jester.

way to go, An edh deck running Doran should prove rather chaotic in a game of edh. dunno what to reccomend right now though.

Yep doran edh is tons of fun, especially if you can catch your local playgroup off guard and not tell them you made a new deck then reveal your general doran.

I will be glad to give you some criticism about whichever deck you decide to post if you want me to. Leave another comment here when you are finished and I will get to it when I can.

Try throwing in some big finishers like Death to the Debtless. I also like Obz for this build.
