Deck Description

This one is designed to work around Leaf-Crowned Elder. Crown of Convergence, Sensei's Divining Top, and Cream of the Crop let me adjust what card I get at the beginning of my upkeep.

Orchard Warden + Sanguine Bond helps make this one of the most feared stalling decks in my play circle.

Unstoppable Ash + Doran, the Siege Tower helps make this one of the most feared aggro decks in my play circle.

Before you tell me I need more Timber Protectors, I know. My circle quit playing Magic for a while right before Mirrodin, and I was the only one that kept collecting and building decks. I 4 of them in here as soon as I could get them, and as soon as I played one, they would start bitching about how unfair indestructibility is (when we all know it's kinda easy to deal with). When the second one hits the table, everyone (and I really just mean one person in particular) instantly quits. I had to agree to only have 2 in my deck because they simply haven't adjusted theirs to be able to handle indestructible creatures. Gayness.

Deck discussion for Old Growth Ass Whoopin' (round 10 or 12)

Mirri's guile I think is the card that would let you check the top three for free each upkeep, you might find it to be a good substitute for the Top, it requires a specific mana to play but it is free from then on. (it also does not have the draw card effect, but you seem to be using the top just for scrying). Sucks that your play circle quits on you, that said I have a tendancy to fold if I know I can't win (but only if they are toying with me, I refuse to sit through an hour of someone attacking me with a 1/1 when they could kill me in a turn or two).

Only thing I think you could consider is a slagwurm armour or two, they work great for protecting your dudes and are effectivly a +6/+6 bonus if you have doran in play.

I actually planned a doran deck with no other treefolk the other day, Doran the Seiged Tower, take a gander (I think the gamble involved might be in line with your thinking.)

They could totally win, though. One of us was playing a Phage deck that can tap just about every creature ever when my friend up and quit (granted, I DID have 2 Timber Protectors out by the 5th turn).

Well, since it IS the top three cards, Mirri's Guile would work. I like the top because i can leave a few mana open and stack my deck as my turn starts. Plus, with multiple Leaf Crowned Elders, I can put a card in, stack, put a card in, stack, etc. I'll most likely trade Cream of the Crop for Mirri's Guile as soon as I get some.

Fair enough, cream of the crop is a good card, although I personally hate anything that forces me to put stuff on the bottom of my own library, it's so annoying, you look at the top however many, you really like two or more but you can only have one, it's like a black player hit you with a discard while you have a hand full of good'uns...

Oh, I completely agree. What made me fall in love with it was the first time I ever used it. I had 3 leaf Crowned Elders out, and had a Dauntless Dourbark on top of the library. Threw him down for free and looked at the top 17 or 18 cards, put another on top, put it in for free, looked at the top 18 or 19 cards, put ANOTHER on top, played it for free, and looked the top 19 or 20 cards. since I had gone through my whole deck at this point, I had it stacked so that every other card was a creature in order to use Sensei's Top. And I had Orchard Warden and Sanguine Bond out at the time, so everyone else was at 2 or 3 life while I had 80 or so.

that is a pretty epic play and i suppose with the sheer volume of elders in play you were hardly ever actually needing your mana for playing creatures so you could dedicate it to the top...

Throw in the fact that I only have 8 cards over 4 mana and this deck has a LOT of extra mana each turn.
