Progenitus Hilarity

by RoughneckBarbarian on 17 November 2009

Main Deck (60 cards)

Enchantments (12)

Land (20)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

So you want 1,000,000 copies of Progenitus? It can be done.
(I must admit that smc1215 inspired the Clone combo)

Dream Halls allows you to play Progenitus damn near for free. Copy Progenitus with Clone, or (if the Liege is out) just play Clone and don't copy anything. Then enchant said Clone with Followed Footsteps and put a copy of progenitus into play each upkeep. Paradox Haze allows you to put 2 in each turn. Don't worry about the legend rule. Mirror Gallery has you covered.

Now, what to do with all those Progenitus tokens? The sane mind would come to the conclusion that attacking is the best policy. Fortunately, I am not sane (that should be in evidence by the fact that I just spent 15 minutes making a deck that copies a 10/10 with protection from everything). The solution, my friends, is this: sacrifice the tokens to Altar of Dementia to mill the opponent hardcore style. Because the Altar doesn't target Progenitus (you're merely paying a cost), you can mill the opponent 10 cards at a time.

There you have it. I'll put the jacket back on now...

How exactly can you enchant the Progenitus copy with Followed Footstep if Progenitus has protection from everything?

2
Posted 17 November 2009 at 18:12

You don't. You play a Clone without having it copy anything. Murkfiend Liege gives it +1/+1 so it doesn't die, then you enchant the Clone. Each Clone token that comes in can then copy a creature.

Jamesgrim, I would comment your decks but there's nothing to comment on. They're just a stack of cards that share a color with lands thrown in.

No, you cannot clone the Prosaucigeous but yes, you can copy nothing and then start copying. 20 lands will do you shit, and this deck is so freaking slow...

Go read a book, Cakins. You might learn something.

Or better yet. read the rules for Clone, dumbass. Clone doesn't target anything. Protection says that it can't be a target. Says so right in the rulings. Think before you open your mouth (in this case, move your fingers).

As for lands, you're an idiot if you want to run 24 lands in a deck. While you're drawing lands turn 8 and 9, I'm drawing kill spells. Pull your head out of your ass and join the rest of us. The Magic beginner's guide recommends 24 lands from what I hear. I don't know about you, but I'm not a beginner.

And this deck is most certainly not slow. Lands don't matter past turn 4-5.
Turn 1 - Library of Leng
Turn 2 - Silver Myr or Altar of Dementia
Turn 3 - Paradox Haze
Turn 4 - Any card in the deck if Silver Myr is out. (Dream Halls. Read it.)

Thank you for your time. Please feel free to refrain from posting on any more of my decks, Cakins.

im a begginer and for decks that dont specifically counter its plus sides i love te 24 land guideline. however this is one such deck and therefor not as slow as it looks. the fact is that this deck is genius and does break the mold.

Actually you are all overlooking the fact that Progenitus can't be copied.
Legendaries can't have copies. Since Progenitus is a legendary, it can not have a copy. There can not be 2 of the same legendary out on the field at the same time because as soon as the second one would come into play, the first and second would both just be destroyed.
It is the Akroma rule if you are asking what rule I'm talking about.

I would recommend running the land Llanowar Reborn, as well. I know it isn't the right colors, but the Graft is key, as it would be yet another way to put a Clone into play that doesn't copy anything. IE, less reliance on Murkfiend Liege.

However, I'm pretty sure you'd have to play Voidstone Gargoyle and name "Clone" before he plays his first Clone and enchants it with Followed Footsteps, because "put a token onto the battlefield" doesn't = casting a card

This is a very interesting and great combo; the only problem I have is with the mill idea, because of all the cards that reshuffle the graveyard when they are put in it; however, I figure if you realize a player has those, you'd just swing for lethal instead, so it works either way...

Gold is not a color in magic. The color of the background does not matter, it just makes it look good. Please, if you can't say something passably intelligent, do not say anything at all.

the funniest spin I've seen on boosting Progenitus is Exalted, since it doesn't target...Rafiq of the Many alone allows Progenitus to swing for 22 (unblockable, of course)...

0

Awesome Deck! Maybe adding a Dragon Arch to bring out Progenitus a little faster, hell even could add green and toss in a few Elvish Pipers or Natural Order with some zero casting creatures. Now with the Clone can you put a Followed Footsteps on it if it is a Clone of Progenitus, I mean that because could you play Followed Footsteps on an (exact copy of Progenitus, being it has protection from everything including enchantments) Now, if you copied something else like another creature or an opponents creature, you could copy the clone to then clone Progenitus because when it is brought into play copy target creature.

0
Posted 03 February 2011 at 18:56

you don't bring the first clone as a copy of anything, you just make it a 1/1 creature if you have murkfiend liege out, then you make the copies of clone that become copies of progenitus.

0
Posted 05 February 2011 at 12:23

why is no one acknowledging the fact that you can't "Followed Footsteps" a Progenitus or any of his clones?

0
Posted 03 February 2011 at 22:15

he doesn't...he puts Murkfiend Liege on the battlefield, then drops a Clone and chooses not to copy anything, so it is a 1/1 creature...drops Progenitus with Dream Halls, and enchants the Clone with Followed Footsteps, and then a Clone token is played every turn, copying Progenitus once a Mirror Gallery is on the field...

1
Posted 04 February 2011 at 02:22

Wow people can't read^..........1. He casts progenitus. 2. He casts murkfiend liege. 3. He casts clone without actually cloning anything. 4. He enchants the 1/1 clone with followed footsteps.
-Each upkeep a clone enters the battlefield, and he chooses progenitus each time.
-The initial clone doesn't die because of murkfiend liege giving it 1/1
-The legend rule doesn't apply because of mirror gallery

Sorry didn't caught the part about cloning Murkfiend Liege. You may want to think about a Fabricate or two just in case you don't get a Mirror Gallery in your hand or even maybe some quicksands for the smaller creatures to save a little on life loss.

i've just played a proxy version of this deck, but i didn't even cast any creature before i got defeated in a single game, it takes 4 or 5 turns to complete a part of that combo, is there a way to increase the speed of this deck? i really like this deck i even added 1 Nicol Bolas Planeswalker card and in a tower game i was able to cast Progenitus and Nicol Bolas Planeswalker with the Dream Halls card but i wasn't able to do the combo because the cards never came, it is so great with that power but it is so slow, i can't handle with the oponent until i got any single creature in play. please help!!

0

Well Prohnitus is every color (Including blue) so when you discard a blue card you can then play him without playing for his mana cost with Dream Halls. So meaning you could discard any color for Dream Halls to play Prohnitus because Prohnitus has all colors in it's casting cost.

Uhhh. Yes, when you do play Clone and don't copy anything in play it would die being a 0/0 but, when you have Murkfield Liege in play your Clone would receive +1/+1 making it an 1/1 creature with no abilities. Then with Followed Footsteps on it, it comes back into play as playing a new Clone allowing you to copy another creature being Progenitus. Now, Progenitus is a Legendary creature so you can only have one in play, but with Mirror Gallery (Legend rule is voided) you can play as many Progenitus as you want. But, in my opinion I would go with Gauntlet of Power's then Murkfield it still gets that +1/+1 but also doubles up your mana to play Dream Halls faster.
