Deck Description

My current Treefolk deck is very, very good. We're talking a win/loss ratio of about 35/6. The problem is, it just doesn't play the way I want it to. I think I was being too elaborate in trying to use Treefolk Harbinger as removal fodder for Unstobbale Ash, then enchanting Unstoppable Ash with Flickerform for infinite tutoring. Rediculous. I'm going to try to fix that.

My old goal was to maximize my usage of Leaf-Crowned Elder's amazing ability, but the way I was going about it was clumsy and I only got to use the combo twice. Now I have replaced a three step combo requiring 4 mana (2 of which could only be produced by special lands) with Sensei's Divining Top. Much more smooth.

I also wanted to make sure Doran and Unstapable Ash had plenty of time together, and was mildly sucessful, but I over-estimated the searching power of the above mentioned combo. Now that I think I've fixed that problem, another glaring issure results: why give a creature +5/+5 if it doesn't have trample, and how do I let ALL of my guys do it? Akroma's Memorial has sovled nearly every main problem: protection from removal/burn, lack of flying, and all my creatures have trample.

What do you think? The sideboard shows everything I took out.

12/21 - My nearly undefeated Treefolk lost to my revamped Fungus/Saproling deck. The reason? Fungi were up and running and produced 48 saprolings while I only had 9 Treefolk. Granted, I had 154 life in turn 9, the Saprolings attacked with everyone turn 10, then sacrificed the ones that got blocked to Pallid Mycoderm to deal a whopping 351 damage. So, I added the Sanguine Bond back in, along with Fog. Now it's back on a 6 game win streak, including 2 3-on-1 games.

Deck discussion for Rebuilding my Treefolk from the ground up

I can't help but feel that there must be a better card than roughshod mentor for the role you are trying to fill... *checks gatherer*
Concerted Effort is cheaper but dependant on you having another trample-er in play, Akroma's memorial is more expensive but you get more abilities for your mana.
much better.

Well said, sir. Akroma's would solve another problem i've had: the fact that trees can't fly...
