Early on, gt any Defenders you have on the board - [Overgrown Battlement] and [Axebane Guardian] turn them into a nice strong mana engine, alongside your lands. [Karametra's Acolyte] and [Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx] also help ramp your mana up nicely.There is very, very little blue in the deck - just nine cards, the barest splash. And only because of [Kruphix], whose ability to carry over unspent mana from one turn to the next can amplify the already-strong mana engine, allowing you to goldfish your way to victory. (For example, imagine triggering a Hydra Broodmaster's Monstrosity with an X value of 40, ha!) The other six blue cards are present as effective early blockers, as well as factoring into the Defender count for the Battlements' and Axebanes' mana generation abilities.
