Id suggest getting rid of lashwrithe because the 4 cost to bring out is too high. Replace with a 4th mutagenic and a 4th dismember.

I'd also suggest removing the 3 sideboard twisted image for either 3 into the roil or 3 disperse (if you want to keep it post block switch). You've got enough creature control and the disperse/ITR allow you to handle enchantments.

What about adding in an inquistor and entomber exarch? The fact that they are both clerics and that they had great entering combat abilities seem like a natural fit for this deck

My guess is that he just mimic's whatever is beneficial at the moment. The creature has to be in the graveyard first.

In reference to mimic'n the splicer though, would the golem be affected by haste?

I took a very similar deck to a local invitational last night. There were 21 players involved and I ended up loosing in the semi-finals (overall record was 3-1-1 matches in the original round [note I agreed to a draw for the final match so that I could garauntee a spot for top 8]) and I won in the first round of 8 - single elimination. The prize was a 3-round buy for the national tournament in Philly.

Anyways, I wanted to post regarding some of the problems I ran into and get some advice on how to fix it. My losses were to a caw-blade (which still used 4 Jace and 4 Stoneforge) and a Mono-red burn which used quest for pure flame to ramp up and finish me off (a note on this deck, I actually did beat it 2-0 in an earlier round, but that could have been chalked up to poor draws).

So what do you have or what might you suggest to deal with a mono-red Koth infused deck (or even a post ban caw-blade deck) - Assume that they are smart enough to have some cards like dismember and the artifact pump nuke to deal with Phyrexian crusader?

How would spellskite interact with go for the throat? It's an artifact so technically it couldn't originally be the target of that spell; however could you redirect and the spell would nullify itself?

I like the deck and I have something similar. I would replace Preordain with Gitaxian probe - lets you draw a card and look at their hand (to work around removal/damage prevention or at least be aware of it).

4 Distortion strike pretty much removes the need for neurok invisomancer. Perhaps put in whispering spectre instead - can also help with getting around removal/damage prevention.

Drop 2 livewires for 2 piston sledges. They're faster because of the lack of initial equip cost.

Also, I would consider getting mutagenic growth in there for when the old cycles rotates out.

Thanks for the tip on Hex Parasite.

My issue with turn aside is that it doesn't address spells that either don't target your parmanents (like life's finale) or that target you. If you want to keep it cheap, perhaps Mana leak is a good choice because if you're using it early (or even later when they're casting a big spell), it's very unlikely that they will have the 3 extra mana.

Also, I notice that you go with 4 livewires. I do like them, but they seem a bit too expensive. I was thinking of 2 live wires and 2 piston sledges.

I don't see the benefit in tainted strike. I understand that it may be the only instant buff for black or blue once the new cycle rotates, but it's not that much of a bonus and all your creatures currently have infect.

I would think something like doomblade, fuel for the cause, or disperse would be a better use of the space. The control/removal would be better off imo.

Also, because I have a similar deck - I'm curious why you have hex parasite in your sideboard? I was thinking of using surgical extraction to counter combo decks. Thanks.
