I had Serum Visions in previous builds and was not so happy with it. Many times i had the problem I scried after drawing got the Ultimatum on top and had to fetch during opponents turn to kill something and lost the Ultimatum or ich fetched and shocked me to fix mana or being able to counter or something and draw Ultimatum and did not get it on top.

Either i lost Ultimatum to answer a threat or i lost 3 life without needed reason in case i could get the Ultimatum on top.

So i dropped the Serum Visions and i don't like Ancestral Visions. :-p

In past it was sometimes a little drawback playing 4 checklands with 4 manlands but i try to keep the lifeloss minimal because of lacking lifegain.
Yeah there are many aggro palyers and it's another reason for less shocklands. We got some W/x Token, Soulsisters, Elve/Junk Company Chords, Ravager, Merfolks and if i am not wrong i have seen Goblins and a zombie guy too if i'm not wrong.

I had those evoke dudes in mind, Shriekmav also but i don't want to cut too much. Replacing all Mana Leaks seems to be a heavy change in my opinion. What do you think about cutting 1 Mana Leak and 1 Spell Snare? Is it worth playing 2 Mulldrifter? Also like i said i thought about adding Shriekmaw instead of 2 Terminate or 1 Terminate and 1 Cryptic Command. But i'm stil not sure.

Sry for the late response and do not worry i do not get you wrong.

The more i think about Ancestral Visions the more it seems hyped to me for being first time legal in Modern. I do not want to say it is a bad card i just think it does not fit in any deck playing blue like most people think. Imho it is too slow even if it's cost/draw is insane. You are absolutely right it does fit to Jace, Vryn's Prodigy and Goblin Dark Dwellers but playing them would mean to change everything of this deck. These are my reasons to keep Serum Visions in this build.

But thank you very much for your idea.

May yes and no...

Both got their pro's and con's.

Ancestral Visions is only good turn 1 because i need to response to everything every following turn and after turn 4 when i got the mana left to cast it it will take too long to resolve.

Serum Visions is worse in draw but it resolves the same moment i cast it and it is digging immediately for the things i need in later turn.

So i really don't know what would fit better. A early to cast huge advantage spell or a late game viable spell with less impact.

Imho Serum Visions fits much better because 2 Serum Visions turn 5 in my hand are much better than 2 Ancestral Visons in my hand the same turn. I just think in a contral heavy shell it will become too slow and would fit much better in any tempo deck or something utilizing cascade or some different "free to cast" effect.

But thank you for the suggestion and correct me if i should be wrong. :-)

Well you are playing a tribal deck and got creatures. In a different gameplan Vapors can be better than Damnation but i lack of creatures and in need to kill everything or get around hexproof/indestructible as fast as possible.

I play Hunger over Vapor because it is a instant and costs only 3. But thank you for the suggestion.

He discards Enter the Infinite, casts it with Mizzix's Mastery and deals a ton of damage with Conflagrate's flashback. ;-)

I like it except the random looking Mystical Teachings. Are they in for fetching your SB choices? You could replace them with Gitaxian Probe to fuel your graveyard for Delve.

In my opinion the Teachings fit better in a more control heavy shell. You already got Serum Visions and Thought Scour to find needed answers, adding Gitaxians would would speed this up. I think the Teachings are to slow for a build like this also.

I understand your point of view but at the moment i can not afford 1 or even 2 Cliques.

I thing about Pia and Kiran is the valueof a 3-for-1 so i want to playtest them for a while. Maybe i wil go back to banana king Tasigur.

But Tasigur's draw... Never used it. Resolved Tasigur caused a dead opponent before the draw became relevant or Tasigur just got pathed.

What do you thin about 1 of "Shielding Plax"? Protects Zur or any other creature, is cmc 3 and draws you 1 card.

In my opinion the Gavony and Sigil Captain are stronger, since Gavony boosts creatures already in play also. But a splash without shock lands would slow this down too much. Go for G/W with Glare of Subdual or G/U Paradox Haze but no 3 colour, maybe even G/B for removal. ;-)

I think 1 Novijen is enough. Drawing a 2nd would be a dead card. I look at Novijen more like a 4th untouchable Guildmage.

Much better. By the way i like the idea of using Zameck Guildmage and Novijen!

Looks good but i would recommend to play your keycars like Paradox Haze and Thallid as 4-of. Also i recommend to cut Mizzium Skin because you already got Simic Charm for hexproof and 6 cards sound too much to me.
