Deck Description

ok so i made this and realized that this deck really hurts and is super freaking annoying.the most expensive card on here is the clifftop retreats, if you want to make it, -4 clifftop retreats, +2 plains, +2 mountains. this worked for me before i got the retreats. please comment on what you like and dont like about this deck and ill make the ajustments.

Just made a new deck based off of this one please take a look and let me know what you think

Deck discussion for CHEAP STANDARD THAT REALLY HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>:)

-4 Thatcher Revolt/ +4 Goblin Rally. the GR has a more expensive mana cost, but you dont have to sac your tokens at the end of turn, so the trade off is better.

i like thatcher revolt because its like a small hell's thunder, unless you have intangible virtue and phantom generals out, it basically doubles their power. plus thatcher revolt hits them unprepared because they have haste, in goblin rally they can have some kind of defense in a turn, but i like goblin rally i might consider it as sideboard

Ninjastyle is right, Goblin Rally is much better than Thatcher Revolt here. Thatcher Revolt is mainly good in humans decks where there are lots of triggers going off when the humans ETB, so the Revolt tokens get a big boost and set up other humans. Your deck doesn't do that, you just want the tokens in a weenie strategy, so Goblin Rally is WAY better

alright well then i will drop and run and see what happens, thanks!

in addition, I would run at least one copy of Krenko. especially if you do add the Rally. the ability to drop krenko and double your goblin count the next turn is something that will be helpful.

Without any kind of removal, you will lose to Thragtusk most of the time.

0

I disagree. Thragtusk can be handled by a 3/3 token just fine, as can his beast replacement. Token overrun would work well against Thrag, especially with a Krenko added to the mix, doubling the goblin token count each turn.

You are going to be hitting with more than they have for creatures Optimus so I disagree with you.

Nice deck, dunno alot of special cool stuff for tokens but Odric, master tactician could just maybe do some damage but I dont really know, considered to use some populate stuff like rootborn defenses? nice deck anyways! :)

What do you do against Cyclonic Rift, Terminus, or Supreme Verdict? If one of those goes off mid to late game, it seems like you'd be screwed.

actually at my meta, i have had those happen, but i usually pull forward pretty well. i guess i just get lucky??

0

eh this deck is cheap enough that its no problem getting his tokens back after one of those happens. Considering he has token makers left of course.

0

Oh jesus this deck is scary! Have you considered Cathar's Crusade and Goldnight Commander while you're at this token thing, both of those are pretty sick.

0

the reason why i dont add those is because it works pretty well without those, but thank you for the suggestions!!! :)

Growing ranks and martial law

0

eh, idk about growing ranks but martial law would be supreme!! any suggestions on what to take out??

0
Posted 14 December 2012 at 18:45

Well growing ranks would help get more tokens. To put either of these in I would consider taking out Fervor or maybe Hellrider but take Hellrider out if you NEED more room.

Goblin Ralley is a sh.t card... ...I don't get it, why you playx 4 of it & only 3 Devotion... ...sorry for sayin', but this deck doesn't hurt at all...

...the enchantment stuff you run here is better in U/W with Detention Sphere, Oblivion Ring, Nevermore & stuff...

I don't have anything to add for this deck, 'cuz if I did, it would be a whole other deck.......

...here is a deck, that is cheap for standard & still competative: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=398933

contrary to that guy, i like this deck. maybe its just my love of tokens. i think someone said this before but something with populate could help. especially rootborn defenses because of indestructible. be sure to check out my token deck and comment/suggest things

good deck and good sideboard.

Let me start by saying i loooove tokens and this deck is a neat interpretration i havent seen before of it. Suggestions i could make would be adding in hellrider, extremely good with the large numbers of creatures. I see where sphere of safety comes from but i dont know if it really fits into the synergy of the deck. It seems like a deck with a few big creatures attacking wouldnt be hindered extremely while a weenie tokens deck would be trading with your tokens without the sphere so instead you could make the tradeoffs more to your favor. And of course against control/low creature decks its just a dead card for the most part. As said earlier martial law would be a good addition, help a lot with those strong cresture decks. In the end i think i would do:

-3 sphere of safety
-1 goblin rally
-1 krenkos command

+3 hellrider
+2 martial law.

I agree with this guy ^^. The main issue I have with Goblin Rally and Sphere of safety is that they're kind of clunky at 5 CMC and I think Hellrider/Marital Law at 4 CMC each would round out your curve nicer and speed up the deck since Hellrider has Haste. I would also suggest looking into some 3 CMC token spells like Lingering Souls or Midnight Haunting. Replacing some of your 5 CMC token spells like Increasing Devotion and Goblin Rally would really speed up the deck and gives you some extra evasion tokens which is always nice. :)

If you wanna spring for the Hellriders, they'd take this deck a long way. I'd also recommmend Dynacharge--in a quick token spam deck, that card could be a nice finisher. Never underestimate +2/+0 to all your creatures for 2R.

1
Posted 15 December 2012 at 09:30

I'm not feeling Goblin Rally, with no mana ramp 5cmc is just to much especially since someone can just sever the bloodline. Hellrider would make such a great add into this spot. and possibly searing spear instead of the sphere of safety

0
Posted 15 December 2012 at 16:42

I know you had Thatcher revolt in here earlier, and personally I prefer that card to Goblin Rally since there's not much in the way of mana ramp in your deck. I think you should consider side decking it for quicker opponents.

Great deck, love how it works:

Changes? Take out Goblin Rally for Captain's call, gives you three for four rather then four for five, at lest I think knocking a few 5 outs out would be very helpful

i also think lingering souls/ midnight haunting could easily replace the red token cards... red seems pretty out of place

Sphere of Safety and Ethereal armor is completely out of place in this deck.
Hellriders, and maybe even Rally the peasants? :P

This is a very good deck. I agree with earlier posts that recommend Krenko, Mob Boss, he would just combo well with Hellrider. I also think that you should remove Increasing Devotion you will probably never get a chance to use the Flashback cost, I would replace it with your Oblivion Ring, which could remove very annoying creatures. Some cards you may want to think of is Fervor which gives all your creatures Haste, and also a 5 drop that could win you the game Clever Riot all creatures gain double strike until end of turn.

very nice! im very satisfied with this but there is one thing i want to point out that u might like. it would make this deck WAY better if u replace etheral armor with fervor. now that i think about it tho. sphere of safety isnt a good fit. tokens are all about aggro especially with hellrider, generals, and virtues. u should probably also try to drop 1 devotion and run 2 odrics in main along with 2 krenkos. think about this. u have out fervor, 3 red sources and 3 more lands. u drop a krenkos command, cast krenko and instantly tap him and you have 9 goblins to swing in. and if u have some virtues out, theyre in deep shit.

Also check out some of my decks by clicking on my user name. I'm on my phone right now so its hard to copy and paste deck links. Definately check out my deck called gruul. At fnm last night I did bad because I kept getting bad hands. But I played the guy who won 1st after the tournament and won 2-0. I was playing with the "gruul" deck and he was playing W/U control that completely shut down jund. The deck on this site is identical to my real life deck except for the shock lands.

i just wanna ask your thoughts about Thraben Doomsayer in this deck i think it might work?

0
Posted 23 December 2012 at 00:25

How about Crusader of Odric because its power and toughness are equal to the number of creatures you control. I would take out Fervor and maybe one or two Krenko's command.

0
Posted 23 December 2012 at 14:21

im sorry but your suggestion wasnt incredible. ;P that seems sort amateur-ish. you would think something like that would be good but the idea of this deck is to kill just as quick as u start win the board presence game. crusader of odric is good in some decks but if an opponent would overload electrickery or mizzium mortars, which are starting to be played more frequently, crusader will most likely be sitting there as a weenie 1/1. fervor is too good for this deck to drop for crusader, and krenko's command is basically a red version of raise the alarm and helps out krenko. this deck is constructed around speed and quick overrun and not weenies swinging with a biggie or two. that's why crusader isnt a good card for this deck.

0

also sir jayden i have a few more suggestions for you. 24 lands in a 60 card deck is a lot. i reccomend dropping to 22. also drop 1 krenko, drop the devotions, and 1 general. that gives u 5 more cards to work with and 22 lands is plenty for a 60 card deck. it would be best to use the 6 card slots on a 4th haunting, 4 lingering souls, and a 4th doomed traveler. the deck will run smoother and give u more options during your turns. also if u are questioning the lingering souls by the black flashback, dont worry about it just think of the card as a sorcery version of midnight haunting.

thank you so much, i haven't checked out my account over christmas because its family time but i think you're right i took 1st last week in fnm with this deck!!! but i did have some close calls because i didnt have enough creatures to kill with, as in i would be like 3-4 life total off from killing and it made it harder because my opponents would take that extra turn to be extremely annoying. but i really appreciate it, and yeah i'll look at your other decks.

One last thing.... 24 lands would be way better for you dude. You need to be able play your stuff. I've been doing practice hands with this deck, and it just seems troublesome. Even 23 lands would be a pretty good idea.
