Deck discussion for Vampires: The Gathering

get ride of the corrupts, minus one doom blade plus two go for the throats. minus the viscera seer unless you run a bloodghast. pestilence demon costs to much and doesnt really fit. here is my vampire deck if you want to take a look

I'm guessing this is based off what cards you own, so i will be as nice as possible and try not to come off as a douche bag.

If you can run 4 Gatekeeper of Malakir and 4 Vampire Nighthawks you'll be off to a good start. I highly recommend getting your hands on some Vampire Nocturnus if you can, they will increase the power of your vamps quickly.

Since this deck looks like it's for casual play i recommend another Malakir Bloodwitch and maybe 2 Sengir Vampires. Sengir is about to be reprinted in M12 so you should be able to get a hold of some soon. Vampire Hexmage is great for killing your opponents Planeswalkers, so if you have a friend who annoys you with them, pick some of those up as well.

Petilence Demon doesn't function well here, it will probably tend to kill your vamps faster than anything... Royal Assassin is not exactly a Vampire, but he's one of my favorite black cards of all time, so if you wanna keep him in there i totally understand, cause he's a badass.

If you can get your hands on 4 dark rituals do so, being able to drop Nighthawk on turn 1 is always good.

If you want more help, post a reply and let me know.

thanks for the comments guys. I was playing with my wife who was playing white. She had creature cards that had proctection from black. I had captivating vampires (only had one, kinda want more) and i was able to take control of her protection from black creatures....that works right? i mean, the captivating vampires ability still works on creatures that have protection from black?

yeah, it's a casual deck...(I'm a novice)...i definitely appreciate any and all advice....

Also, they still make dark ritual!? wow. they've had that since 4th edition (when i started playing)....should I run planeswalkers in this deck? would liliana do me any good?

again, i REALLY appreciate the advice.

I shouldn't run corrupts? It's pretty good late game, right?

Also, I want to try to keep my deck tournament safe? in case I ever want to play FNM? I mean, i want to try to use legal cards.

depends on what you mean by legal. there are tons of different formats. the deck i post above is a standard legal deck.

and you can't target a card with protection from black with your black cards which includes captivating vampire and royal assassin. sorry

and corrupt is good but its extremely slow. you would be better served put in some cards that are lower cost and just as good to speed up your deck

How then could I deal with a card with protection from black based on the cards that I have in my library? there's got to be some way a mono black deck can deal with that.

you can target players or have a general targeting spell. So geth's verdict targets a player so that player can choose to sacrifice the protected creature. gatekeeper would be able to do that too.
if you had a card that says for example all creatures get or creatures your opponents control get then that would affect it too
