Deck Description

First, let me say this... I brought this deck to the group! I don't care what Ray says!!! Now, on to business.
This is just your average, everyday combo deck. Built around 2 cards: Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank.
Here's how it works... Once Bloodchief Ascension is active (has 2 counters) any card that goes to your opponents graveyard causes them to lose 2 life and you gain 2 life. All you care about is the first part. Card to the graveyard, 2 damage. Once you have the active Bloodchief Ascension throw down Mindcrank, do 1 point of damage to your opponent and GAME OVER. How? Mindcrank says if your opponent loses life, they mill that many cards... See it yet? 1 damage, mill 1 take 2 damage, mill 2 take 4 damage, mill 4 take 8 damage, ad infinitum.... no more deck, no more life, game over. The Leyline of Punishment is in there to prevent any funny business. With that in play, there is nothing that can stop you if they don't destroy the Ascension or the Mindcrank. Even if they manage to counterspell the damage, that counterspell goes to the graveyard and starts the loop. It's just nasty. And usually over pretty fast.
Here's the thing about combp decks... they're fun, but only for a minute. If you decide to sleeve this list up be prepared for everyone in your circle to get sick of it pretty quick. Have your fun, but be willing to let it go when it becomes tedious for your friends. In the end, they ARE your friends, right? That's all I'm going to say.

Deck discussion for Bloodcrank Punishment

If you are going to base a deck around two cards then u should get cards to fetch them. This deck should be blue and black. Diabolic tutor and fabricate. Plus counterspells and draw spells will also help u survive until u get the two cards help u draw them quicker.

I made a deck like this with exqusite blood and sanguine bond also. For two win conditions.

Thanks for the suggestions. I would consider adding a tutor, but probably Demonic Tutor (I'm not limited to a format...vintage, if anything). I played this deck quite a bit, multi-player mostly, and between the direct damage, o rings and DoJ I have always been able to wait for the combo. I mean, with this type of deck I won't start the game without at least one part of the combo in my opening hand, no matter how many mulligans it takes. Otherwise, what's the point, really? I may consider adding a tutor or two, but like I said, probably Demonic Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, Idyllic Tutor. All of which are relevent to this deck, and cost less than Diabolic Tutor.
As far as Sanguine Bond, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that card! It's currently in an older vamp deck I have, but when I saw Exquisite Blood i felt the same way about it as you....it's destiny! I just haven't had the time to construct that deck, but I like your build a lot! I might consider putting something like that together, now that I've taken a look at

Glad to help. And what your saying makes since. I usually try to go modern or standard, just cause of the older card being harder to find, so i had might as well make them modern. Haha. And this deck looks super solid, very playable, just trying to give a suggestion.

Hi,

Bloodcrank deck, are in fact Burn deck, the mindcrank combo being only your second win condition. I know it's a great combo and everything, but the odds you burn your opponent before bloodchief ascension is activated + mindcrank is on the table, are greater anyway.

Also, no white splash. Black and red are enough. Less protection, but more speed.

Hope it help !

Thanks for the suggestions. I always appreciate input. :Like I said, I won't begin a game with this deck without at lieast one half of the combo in my opening hand, no matter the mulligans it takes. Also, I'm just cruel! I choose to use my burn as purly control while I wait for the second card! >) So, any time I played with this deck, if I won it was always with the combo. It's just more fun!!! As for the white, I'm actually cosidering bolstering the white with some tutor effects. And with no creatures Day of Judgment is esential, unless I replace it with Damnation (which I don't have). And with fetch-lands it's pretty easy to fix for three colors.

Phyrexian Arena (1BB) over Sign in Blood? "At the beginning of your upkeep, you draw a card and you lose 1 life".

I prefer Sign in Blood because it can be used to make your opponent draw 2 and take the damage, starting the loop...
