Infinite Counters Combo

by SpippyTheInsane on 29 June 2011

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (17 cards)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Gilder Bairn + Training Grounds + Paradise Mantle (or Utopia Vow) = INFINITE counters! :D

Some good uses for Infinite Counters are in here too :)

Comments or suggestions to make the combo happen faster are very welcome.

Oh and, while the Sideboard is uses of the combo, I didn't include any of the X cards like Brainstorm or Fireball since they are indirect uses of the infinite mana potential here and there are SOOOO many indirect uses I'm not going to even bother listing them lol.

Ahh thanks very much. Dropped 2 Stoneforges for 2 Fabricates which should give me a total of 6 Artifact fetchers which I hope to be more than enough to fetch Paradise Mantle and Darksteel Reactor. Thanks for the help :)

I like this deck. I laughed when I saw you splice in Jace, just because it makes the deck that much better. Plus its an instant win unless you face a destroy deck with Aether Snap. Either way great deck.

Lol thanks. I was actually doing the math and its possible to pop Jace's final 4th turn with this deck XD

just asking how would you get the mana? because paradise mantle is a tap effect

I dont understand the question.... but I will vividly explain the combo...
Okay so basically you get Paradise Mantle onto Gilder Bairn when Training Grounds is on the field too.
Now tap Bilder Gairn to add either blue or green mana to your mana pool. Now activate Gilder Bairn's effect using the 1 blue or green mana and UNtapping it (Yes that's right. Gilder Bairn's ability is an UNTAP abilty). This activates its effect while leaving Gilder Bairn untapped.

If your question was referring to infinite mana combo... Everflowing Chalice. Its in the sideboard right now.

unless you have trouble getting 4 mana, i'd replace worldly tutor with Green sun's zenith. that's all i can think of unless you want to make it an elf deck too and put infinate counters on joraga warcaller.

I was looking into that except it has Shroud so Gilder Bairn can't target it =(

Well if you have green, you could use Helix Pinnacle, eh?

Unfortunately Helix Pinnacle has Shroud so you can't target it with Gilder Bairn =(

Well you could always trying include one of my favorite card Show and Tell plus Ancient Tomb, and Lotus Petal so you can set up on Turn 1 for win on Turn 2.

Lotus Petal + Ancient Tomb play Show and Tell put into play
Gilder Bairn + Training Grounds + Paradise Mantle

That's not a bad way to go except for the fact that I'd be slotting in a fourth color and I dont own a Lotus Petal, meaning that even though the deck has the Chance to get out the combo quickly, it will be less consistent in the long run. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

why not just go Intruder Alarm + Imperious Perfect and any mana producing creature?

I believe this combo gives you infinite Tokens, not Counters of any kind you want. It's a useful combination that I have actually slotted in other decks, but this deck uses an infinite counter combo to really do whatever you want to do with it, making it more versatile than just infinite tokens.

Interesting usage for it. It's a great idea. I took that combo and did a bit of brainstorming and came up with a Mill deck. Check it out! Round 4 Mill an entire deck... followed by 1 deck per round after that!

cool deck i like this deck and want to put it in my charge counter deck but i decided i didn't really want it cause my friends wuld hate me >,< but... oh well... and s there a planeswalker that deals direct damage equal to # of counters removed? you could use orochi hatchery to get infinite 1/1s on turn 5 or even earlier if you had the infinite mana combo and obsidian firehart's ability would still only deal 1 damage per land not per counter on the lands so the extra counters are wasted.

I would also consider running either Gemstone Array or Pentad Prism. Both combo with Gilder Bairn for infinite activations or even infinite mana. With 3 charge counters, you can activate Bairn to double to 6, then pay 3 to activate again, Bairn doubling to 6 again, etc. Or, with 4 or more counters, you can go infinite (double to 8, pay 3 to 5, double to 10, pay 3 for 7, double to 14, etc)

That lets you use ANY card that requires you to tap a creature, instead of being limited to just Paradise Mantle (and also lets you combo off without Training Grounds on the field). As for tapping effects, consider Bramblesnap for an infinite/infinite trampler, Heavy Arbalest to kill everything forever, Ocular Halo to draw ALL the cards, Presence of Gond for ALL the elf tokens, or Splinter Twin for idon'tevenknowwhat'sgoingon time.
