Deck Description

This is my Vampire tribal deck. Uses my favorite art for swamps. It's obviously a lot like many other Vampire decks, but just slightly different in how I would do it.

Deck discussion for Bloodbath

You know what's good with Quag Vampires? Contaminated Grounds.
With all the +stats that your vampires get, your opponent won't be able to block them so you can deal so much damage to them. And once they have below 10 life, you can use the other (when your opponent has 10 or less life) and finish them.

Heh, I didn't even think about that one. Thanks man, I'll give it a try. It isn't every day that i get to make this deck better (Not trying to brag, this deck really is just damn good...and cost me an arm and a leg to make ={ )

Actually, I have a better idea. Slap in two of one of my favorite lands ever -- Urborg, Tomb of Yagmoth. =]

Also really fun to say. Don't believe me? Go on...say it out loud. Now don't you feel silly?

Contaminated Ground, in my opinion, would be better, because no one wants to damage themselves against Vamps, and it actually takes away the lands (mana) colors.

Huh...Never put in Dark rituals...wtf was I thinking?!

Just a question, but if other lands are swamps does that mean that they can tap to produce black mana?

0
Posted 08 December 2010 at 08:22

Yeah. So say you or someone else has a forest out and you also have out Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. That forest is now "Basic land - forest swamp" and can tap for G or B mana.

Oh! Cool, I didn't know that! Now Prismatic Omen makes sense.

1
Posted 08 December 2010 at 11:03

Also dose that mean that if somebody changed grull turf into a swamp that it could make GR or B?

0
Posted 08 December 2010 at 15:14

Depends. Some cards MAKE something become something else. "[Permantent] IS [New type]"

Others, like U.t.o.Y., ADD the new type. "[Permanent] IS [Type] in addition to its other types"

if it just makes it into a swamp, then no...it's now just a swamp, and only taps for B.

If it makes it a swamp in addition to its other types, then yes. It can tap for B and whatever it normally taps for.

(This means that U.t.o.Y., is effectively a kick-ass swamp =P )

0
Posted 08 December 2010 at 17:14

So then does that mean that if you have U.t.o.Y out with 2 swamps that you swamps could make BB?

0
Posted 09 December 2010 at 07:40

Nope. Just B. They basically say "Tap for B or tap for B", which sounds odd, but sort of makes sense.

No. I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for this, but I think he's pretty awful actually. =/

0

I'll admit the Sengir vampires are overcosted, but if you grab some Urza's Incubator's, and name vampire... The old Sengir tribes just WRECK.

Eh, to be honest I don't see how this deck is much superior to my own. Sorry mate, but hbu I'm not too impressed... What's NEW about this?

Well I'm not trying to make it better than anyone's, and I'll admit, yours is a VERY good vampire deck. Obviously good vampire decks are going to look similar, it's just how powerful tribal decks work. What would you suggest for this?

Feast of blood is very nice, and I personall LOVE Pulse Tracker... he's a boss. Glad you added the Knighthawks as well. I guess my problem with it is this deck doesn't scream "TURN FIVE RAPE"... and I had a personal hatred of anything with a CMC of 5+ in a vamp deck. Vamps are for aggro (or control i guess but this one obviously isnt control). If you ain't rushing, why play them?

0
Posted 23 December 2010 at 16:46

The Bloodwitches are there for a few reasons.

1) White is, as I hope I've shown, not as nice and cuddly as they want you to think. White is ****ing evil. A white control will slow this down, no matter how aggro it is, that's just the facts. The Witch stops that issue with it's ETB effect and just in general.

2) Bloodwitch is the Anti-BS. Nothing better than ruining someone's day with her.

3) I almost never get to attack with her, it's her effect that mostly matters. Think of her as a black vampire version of Overwhelming Stampede. When I play her (if it even lasts that long) the opponent dies, simple as that. =]

dude if its not legal why not coffers ?, and also the butche rof maliker is powerfull with all that mana and perasonaly id always run x 4 gatekeepers as you cant have enogh of em in a deck, this looks good as usual to me a familiar strong mana curve and good balance of spells and creatures.

Eh, I dunno. For some reason the Coffers have not made me happy with this. And with the Butcher, I'd have to make a Kalastria Highborn vamp deck to make the most out of it, and if that were the case, I'd probably just use Grave Pact =P

i dont see the point to verdant catacombs

0
Posted 24 December 2010 at 14:15

its a concept called deck thinning. Each verdant catacombs in his hand is effectively another swamp out of his deck giving him a tiny, tiny advantage on whether he draws a land or a threat.

Its a small advantage, but every little bit counts.

Did you consider something like Door of Destinies/Coat of arms to boost all your vamps? Just throwing that out there...and if you don't mind here's my merfolk deck

Eh, with all the lords I have in this, using those cards would just be superfluous =/

Also, I have to apologize, if there's one type of deck I've never been good at giving advice on, it's Merfolk. Hell, look at my Merfolk deck...it sucks! Sorry, but this is one rare occasion where I just won't help =/

(not out of malice obviously...I just won't be of use)

i would like some comments on these decks if you have time:

Could you explain the benefit of tomb of yawgmoth pls? I can't see how it's usefull in a mono colored deck, besides the fact that your fetch lands can now also produce 1 Black mana.

0

I'd also say to put in 4x Marsh Flats to abuse bloodghast's ability even more.

Evil Presence from NPH and Nighthaze from Zendikar gives you land denial to keep their deck slow and adds unblockables and draw power to your deck.

DUDE!! i was running the same kinda deck a while back, except i had reassembeling skeletons instead of bloodghasts ( diddnt have the cash to do so ) and i diddnt have nocturnous, but i had demon od death's gate. im now running a New Phyrexia black deck, and since you know what's up when it comes to solid decks, id really appreciate your opinion =]

Dude hi, i also have a vampire deck i do love em, one thought i had for this deck which you may or may not like, what about running skullclamps to play on your bloodghasts, could be a good way to speed up getting the cards you need and also stopping you running out of cards in your hand. Hope you like the idea. Listen ive built a deck called reanimate those dragons, i spent more time on this deck than any deck ive ever built so i have high hopes for it, but would really value your opinion on it as generally i think you are a very good deck builder. hope you can comment thanks

a coat of arms would also run well to pump up ur vamps. also i notice there really isnt a finisher move so what about a combo of blood tribute and sanguine bond.

0
Posted 19 June 2012 at 04:41

Well not every deck needs a "finisher move". This deck just gnaws away at the opponent's life from the very start. It doesn't need a finisher, so to speak, because by turn 5, I'll only need to deal 3 damage. Also, the Bloodwitch somewhat serves as that finisher, since when I drop her it's often a 10+ blast.
