Deck discussion for Little Chocolate Donuts

Breakfast of champions! Also, why no Inkmoth? It makes this a reaaaally easy design to pull off, manlands made the polymorph emrakul/ulamog decks work, so why not this?

Very interesting idea. If you are going to use Inkmoth, you will need either more Blightsteel or no Relic... Right now Shape Anew on a Inkmoth has a 50% chance to hit Darksteel Relic. I don't know if W is the best color to use here... B gives you hand disruption and removal, both spot and mass. I think B is a better option, with maybe 3 BSZ and some amount of Disfigure/IoK/GftT. Jace might be worth a spot, even if it's just baby jace to kill OP jace and for CA.

Thanks, I'll consider Black for sure. I had mixed feelings on whether I wanted it to be B/U or W/U...So maybe I'll try it the other way. Inkmoth is more of a "plan B" to be honest, but it would suck balls to get a Relic instead of Blightsteel. =/

I also wonder if Phylactery Lich would be fun with this if I ran it B/U, what do you think?

I doubt he would be any good. Once you draw Relic, you are just waiting to draw Shape Anew and win, so focus on that. BBB might be a challenge casting anyway, and he is dead untill you draw Relic. Have you thought about Forsee for more draw?

Yeah good point. My annoyance with Foresee is that it's the same mana cost as S.A.

If you go B/U, you could run Tezz to make that Relic you might run into of use, and he can also be strong with Nexus, or visa-versa.

Could you or anyone else check out my awesome idea for a standard combo deck, using all the praetors in a mostly mono deck.

Great idea for a Blightsteel combo
Could you do me a huge favor and take a look at a deck I am working on. I follow your decks and comments and they are always great advice and I need some advice being i started playing in december. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=179319

Ahh, very nice and very powerful. You may want to consider Gambit over SiB, as the life loss is the same but the mana cost a bit easier. Besides that, I love it. Looks great. Maybe add JTMS? Simply because he makes every deck better.

Thanks. I prolly would run Gambit, but this is designed for my shop's Standard "unplugged" tourney. It should do well in it I think.

As for big jace, I don't own any, and quite frankly don't want to own one. I could write quite a lot about the mistake Wizards made with him, but I'll say shortly...He ruined Standard and I can't wait for him to rotate out.

Hi, great deck you thought out. But i'm wondering since your main win condition revovles around shape anew --> blightsteel. Wouldnt drawing a blightsteel kinda kill the combo ?
I think having a jace or 2 in the deck will help since you can brainstorm and put the blightsteel back into the deck. Just my 2cents.

Drawing Blightsteel does suck, and in the Unplugged tourney (got second in =P) I had to mulligan in two separate games.

Preordain helps a little in this regard, but I might have to consider some ways to put Blightsteel back in the deck if I have to.

As I said above, I don't own a big Jace, nor do I want one. =]

ONETHING ONETHING ONETHING!! i do love ur decks though <#3 but uhh maybe 2 dark steels?? because like... if you get 1 in ur hand while waiting for the mana and st00f (like i did a sample hand and had him in the starting hand and the 2nd one he was the 3rd card in) so like if you draw it with the anew u kinda dont get that combo.

This, is actually a very good point. I can into this problem with my deck. The addition of a 2nd Blightsteel made it so that I always had one in the deck.

I have See Beyond juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust incase I have the rare draw of Blightsteel. The chances of drawing it are really low, and so adding in a second one would add more problems than it would fix.

Nice deck. I had a Mono Blue build for this. It was just full of control with the Trinket Mage searching for Everflowing Chalice. I think the Relic is a better choice over the Chalice, but I built mine before NPH was out. I also contemplated making a Shape Anew deck with Splicers. I may throw a deck list together. I'm thinking that even if you can't get a Shape Anew off, then it would still work like a more aggro Golem deck... Sorry, I'm brainstorming as I'm commenting... lol.

This is kind of like my new deck. I like doing this

T1 bird of

T2 blade splicer (theirs my artifact)

T3 shape anew the artifact now get a blightsteal witch is also a golem so tern 4 when it can attac either day of judgment witch will kill everything but blighty or a wing splicer and give it fly'ing

Also run two blight steels youll love yourself for it. Being Abel to shape anew a pacified one into a neither one is enough to speak for itself

I like the idea, always been a fan of trinket mage, and its interesting to see a B/U version of the Shape Anew at least.

I still think the W/U decks are a little better though, and for a simple reason. I really don't think getting an artifact to sacrifice is all that difficult; the hard part is just guaranteeing the Shape Anew. My friend does it the right way, putting SA as an extra win con in a Golem deck. Typical scrying/cantrips to find it, similar counterspells to guarantee it and stall until he does, much like what you have going on. But it's much easier to just run 4 Master's Call, 4 Blade Splicer, and other Splicers - now there are lots of cards that give you artifact tokens, and meanwhile you have decent creatures to block with or attack if SA gets countered.

Besides, Wing Splicer is much more entertaining - as if Blighsteel Colossus (its a Golem!) actually needed flying.

Surewhynot, you are an amazing deck builder. I previously took a hiatus from Magic, as I was in between jobs and couldn't afford the game any more. Well I got another job, but I was really bored of Magic still, then I came onto this site for old times sake and all of your awesome decks got me hyped up and in the magicing mood!

So thank you!

(Sorry for the terrible run ons)
(Also, I feel kind of awkward asking this after the post above me, but would you mind looking at my wrexial discard? I know it's probably not that great, but I'd still love some feedback)

I was doing the same thing, but using some white too so I could use master's call for more shape fodder, but the trinket mage kinda fills the same space of fetching the relic.

Im pretty new to this whole thing, mostly i make decks that are based on fun and not really winning, but why dont you use "tinker" instead of "shape anew"?
Tinker is cheaper, does not let your opponent see your library and allows you to pick an artifact instead of just the first one which comes up.
im probably missing the whole point to the deck but if there is some awesome trick to using "shape anew" i would love to learn it :D

Tinker got the crap banned out of it sadly. Thus we have to use these other ways to cheat stuff in.

I run a deck like this, more geared as extraction with a twist on the win condition. ill post the deck when I get home and can go through it.

In the mean time, if you want to see a twist, or a variation of a theme, I have a RU deck that I would like to try and put together...

The idea is the P mana, but also making my creatures unblockable with blue...The way I see it in my head as working out is using distortion strike to make the immolating soul eater unblockable, twice...andthen the invisimancer for much the same.... while copying the invisimancer to do it yet again with the phyrexian metamorph.... I know the surge node/hex parasite combo is a weak point but I used the surge node the other night in another deck to mess up a what could have been a really bad ratchet bomb so I kind of wanted to use it...because its fun...

Comments welcome,
