Deck discussion for Blightning Aggro

i think thoughtseize is a bit out of place here, i know blightning discards cards as well, but thoughtseize just isnt a good choice here. also puncture bolt should be cut down a bit, i know its good creature removal but there r better choices

Could you please explain why looking at your opponent's hand on the first turn and removing their most essential card is a bad choice? And could you please illustrate why you feel puncture BLAST (not bolt) is an inferior nuke, as well as indicating what it is inferior to?

getting rid of their best card would be good in theory, but it gains u no card advantage (one of the major themes in a discard theme) and it doesnt fit with the idea from this deck, if their best card is a creature this deck will more than likely kill it anyway. puncture blast is 3 mana for 3 damage which can be accomplished for 1 mana with chainlightning or 2 mana from incinerate, volcanic hammer, etc. if u intended to use the blast as creature removal there r a TON of better choices with clack cards like terror, doom blade, etc. i know blast has wither, but it would be better to just kill the creature than wither it

Thoughtseize- I think that paying 1 mana and 2 life to be able to see the opponent's hand on the first turn and devise a plan to counter whatever it is that I learn their deck does is worth it by itself. The ability to force them to discard a card is simply an added bonus, and a great one at that. My only other option on turn 1 is to lightning bolt whatever weenie creature my opponent has summoned, which is fine, but it gives me far less information about their deck. Therefor I continue to contend that thoughtseize is a very viable choice for this deck.

Puncture Blast- A few things here: First, none of the spells you suggested as replacements are Type II legal (except doom blade, and I am already running terminate). Second, I disagree with you about the viability of wither. Neither black nor red have 'exile' spot removal (except for Unmake, but that's three black in this deck and there's no guarantee that I would always have 3 black mana on turn 3), so having a nuke with wither becomes a useful tool for dealing with kitchen finks, murderous redcaps, and beefy pro-black creatures (chameleon colossus). At least that's the way I see it.

And as a side note, thank you very much for taking the time to look at my deck and engage in discourse with me regarding its contents! I appreciate the opportunity to talk shop with another dedicated player.

One further note about Thoughtseize- once artifacts and enchantments are on the board, I have no way to deal with them. I also have no way to directly counter spells, unless it's game 2 vs. control and I have sideboarded in my Gutturals. For these reasons Thoughtseize is essential as is it basically a pre-counter for those spells that I have no other way to deal with.
