Deck Description

My older brother says i never make any "fun" decks... i'm not sure what that means so i want to show him my idea of a fun deck. The only purpose of this deck is to annoy my brother as much as possible. I want to beat him by using the cards in his deck against him.

This deck isn't as mean as i would like so i would appreaciate any suggestions. Cost doesn't matter, i just want this deck to be amazing.

The sideboard is not a true sideboard. It's really just a list of all the cards i have considered, or am currently thinking about putting in the deck.

How to Play

Like i said above, the goal of this deck is to use my opponents deck against them. I am using Sen Triplets and Daxos to play cards from my opponents hand/deck. Mother of Runes can be used as a blocker or can be used to make sure Daxos can get past their guys and do some damage, which will trigger his ability.

Rest in Peace/ Energy Field combo should keep me safe while i am stealing their cards. If i happen to draw Helm of Obediance while i have Rest in Peace in play that is a bonus... Its like my plan B.

Tutor to help me find my combos or Sen Triplets.
There is plenty of counter spells and creature removal.
Free walls to protect me early in the game.
Spellskite to help with spells that cant be countered and other annoying spells.
Aura of Silence to prevent artifacts and enchantments from ruining my game.
Ancestral Vission to help with early card draw ( i think suspend-4 is way longer than i want to wait!)

What am i missing? What can i do to make this deck faster or just overall better? (keep in mind i want to keep the main idea of this deck... humiliate your opponent by beating them with their own cards.)

Deck discussion for The Violater

The challenge was to build a fun deck and your answer is "The only purpose of this deck is to annoy my brother as much as possible" and " i want to keep the main idea of this deck... humiliate your opponent" ... yeah, that will surely do the trick :D

But anyway, you have a solid description and vision of what you want to achieve and already a decent decklist, this is the perfect playground for me. However, since your goal is to use your brother's decks against him, it would be beneficial to know what kind of decks your brother usually plays. Are they creature heavy? If so, small or big? Blind aggression or tricks? Or does he prefer combo? Or control? This is very important since you are on different clocks.
Another question would be if you want this to stay Legacy legal.

Anyway, here we go:

* Thada Adel, Acquisitor looks like it was made for this deck :) It's especially useful to snatch artifact mana from your opponent to get rolling.

* Tinker should be in here to get the Triplets. Works well with Thada :P You don't run many artifacts now so you might lack sacrifice material, however, I will make many suggestions, so consider Tinker when you are done with the rest.

* Rest in Peace + Energy Field is a solid combo to stay alive, however, that won't happen at 2 copies apiece (and they are both next to useless on their own). Since you'll need deck space, I would remove that combo altogether.

* If you truly want to play with your opponent's cards and your goal is to annoy and humilate ... then the ultimate card for you is MINDSLAVER, both in name/flavour and what it does ingame! I see it's in the sideboard but it really should be maindeck, way over something like Helm of Obediance for example.

* Desecration Demon looks like out of place. It's a good card (in an aggressive deck) and I agree that you need a win condition on your own in case the opponent plays control as well. However, this guy doesn't really fit, mostly because he isn't a reliable blocker (opponent can tap him during HIS combat step) and because of the double-black he costs. I would have expected something like good old Morphling instead here but considering your theme I'd say play Keiga, the Tide Star instead. That or Phyrexian Metamorph which is faster and much more flexible.

So, this is what I would change for sure regardless of what you brother is playing. Rest in Peace and Energy Field goes in favour of Tinker, 2 Thada Adel and a Mindslaver, Desecration Demon is removed in favour of Keigas or Metamorphs.

Then, depending on your brothers decks, make more adjustments. Bribery for example should be in if he perefers fatties, Reins of Power if he prefers weenies etc. First card to go would probably be the Helm of Obedience.

First i would like to say thank you for looking at my deck.
I think playing cards out of my opponents hand is a fun idea... am i wrong? My brother does mostly use creature decks of all varieties.. usually slow... i like my deck to be as fast as possible. He does have a few infinant combo decks... and he is working on a control deck ( he hates control and never uses it!)
I do want this deck to be legacy legal.

I havent looked at the cards you mentioned yet but thats on my todo list as soon as i get out of work.

desecration deamon.... i agree it does seem totally out of place.. i guess i figured it was cheap. it could work fr creature removal or blocking flying creatures (but like you said they can easily tap him so it does seem like a weak card) i guess i couldnt find anything i liked better)

mindslaver was actually one of the first cards i considered but i think it just costs way too much mana to put in playand use. if i cheat it into play ieed a whole combo just for that. Also its a one time use then its gone.. i just think its not effective enough.. thats why i went with sen triplets iernstead..

I thought the rest in peace combo was good... i should be able to do it by turn 3 or 4.... too slow? Or maybe just not relyable?

I guess i have to look more closely at your suggestions when i get home. i will add to this post when i figure out what im going to do.

I looked at the cards you suggested.... loved the thada..... but i dont want to use tinker because my deck wont be legacy legal.... do you think there is a way i can make my card drawing better?

The Rest in Peace Energy Field combo IS good, but not at 2 copies each since each card doesn't do much on it's own! Yes, you have tutors but you also need them to get your Triplets.

what if i add an extra tutor?

You might also want to check out this deck of mine because it does exactly what you want to accomplish, just in a very different way:

yes i did check out your deck and i really like it... i dont think it would be so great for multiplayer.. but for 1 on 1 it would be amazing... i have seen other shared fate decks... so i guess thats kind of why i went in the direction that i did.. i wanted to make a deck that was like nothing i have seen before.. i actually never even heard of sen triplets until i started searching for cards that let you take your opponents turn or play their cards.. now its one of the main cards in my deck.... oh.. i love your new deck by the way..

What a douche to make this deck!
Your brother must really love you to put up with stuff like this.
So...maybe add Leyline of the Void for fun with Helm! :)

All the 1 and 2 of copies...is hurting my head, and makes it hard to suggest cards.
Puschkin named some good ones, as usual.

I was using rest in peace instead of leyline of the void because it works with the energy field or the helm.

I suggested Leyline, already. :)
But he came up with a good point...he has Rest in Peace as the combo piece. :)

But yeah...Leyline would be another Win Condition, for sure!

I recommend corrupted conscience, or mind control. My friend plays those, and I can't tell you how many times he's beaten me with my own creatures.

Ok, so at first glance it seems to me that you are looking to build a deck that uses your opponents deck against them, So, my first bit of advice is run 2 Dark Rituals, 2 Entomb, and 2 Reanimate. If the combo works right, you can turn one Sen Triplets for 2 black mana and 6 life. Granted it is 6 life but with Sen Triplets out you have a scary creature turn 1. To make room for them, cut the Desecration Demon, the Spellskite and the Shield Sheres. Next cut the Wall of Denial for another Helm of Obedience, why? Because Rest in Peace+Helm of Obedience=Infinite Mill. Also cut the Hindering Lights for 3 Dissolves, yes they are 1 more mana but they let you scry and they can target any spell. I think you should also cut the Ancestral Visions for Think Twice. Also cut the 3 Drowned Catacombs for 3 Reflecting Pools and cut the Flooded Strands for Underground Seas. Ill make the deck list the way I see it and link it to you.

ok... i already know that if i want to reanimate the sen triplets, only 2 entombs and 2 reanimates arent going to be enough to get the job done.... i would deffinitly need more.. i never used dissolve.. i can see ho targeting any spell is a step up.. but hindering light lets me draw a card.. choosing between the two is a real toss up for me... think twice? yes i get to draw right away and it has flashback... but isnt it really just paying 5 mana for 2 cards? i think my card drawing ability is the weakest part of the deck....... what if i use something like Standstill? i am going to add the underground sea.. but the flooded strand lets me search for any land in my deck... also after i use flooded strands and pull lands.. it means i have less lands and a greater chance of drawing other cards i might need... i like the idea of adding some reflecting pools... but if i keep the flooded strand i dont think i have enough room for it.. plus if its my only land in my opening hand it is pretty much useless.. so i do want to keep the numbers down on the reflecting pool.....

Yeah, don't do that. If you mix reanimation, you'll get to the point where this becomes a reanimator deck very fast. I mean, if you can Entomb and Reanimate any creature you want, why then play Triplets at all? You could do that with Griselbrand instead and before you know it, you are playing with your grave instead with your opponent's cards.

You are running the Esper wedge. Therefore, assuming cost doesnt matter, you can run 4 strix, meddling mage, demonic tutor (format based), and you might as well run some off color stuff like Damnation for mass removal. Then again, Helldozer is a really annoying card and it can be supplemented by cabal coffers and dark ritual. Also, sinkhole is a-holish hard.

Hmm ... you like playing your opponent's cards, you say .... for the love of magic, please bring 1 copy of silent-blade Oni.

I really like your creative use of Daxos of Meletis. Azorious Charm works wonders with Daxos, and can really help you stay alive.

Good luck, and happy deck building!
