This deck is design to be played as the shield deck. The basic idea is not to really to kill the opposing player so much as to just sit there and be really difficult to kill. It uses Leyline of Sanctity to counter burn. It uses highly defensive creatures and wither to provide a strong defence while slowly chipping away at the enemy's attackers. And it uses Doran as both a way to make creatures way more powerful and also to turn your defensive force into an offensive one if need be.

Awesome idea, I don't know why people who play Emperor don't do more of these. Mine is similar, but with a different concept that allows it to do pretty decently in 1v1--I also run it in two-headed giant. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=90235
