Deck discussion for Doorkeeper Mill w/ Elocutors

Nice man you made it! I'd love to try this out if i can find my old set of Elocutors ha ha.

Maybe you could put some counter spells in the sideboard just in case of removal and burn spells? But apart from that this looks really cool!

Yeah, those would go in side board, but I generally don't make one (for this site) because people could put really whatever in their side board. Y'know what I mean?

Just had an idea! what about cards like sphere of safety and Norn's Annex?? It could be another way at holding them off ?

If you wana use sphere of safety then this is the old deck idea i had with it. http://www.mtgvault.com/delrake/decks/pillow-wall-standard/

If you want extra control, you might think of using Elite Arcanist with Riot Control for complete damage prevention. Pacifism would also be a great card to prevent some damage as a sideboard card.

I like the Arcanist idea, but I have defenders for creatures to take full advantage of Doorkeeper's mill ability.

Im aware. I wouldn't do more than two Arcanists in any case. And I would probably take out two lands to do it. The deck is a little mana heavy to me.

ok, idk if this was intended to be standard but with the elocutors in a format that'll allow it, clockspinning would be a pretty awesome combo, though it may not be very worth it for this deck due to the (1) lack of permanents that use counters, and (2) need to keep you from getting hit. if i think of anything to advise that can help, i'll post another comment.

Well, I only play standard so that's why it's standard lol

did not know that haha, well, if you ever find yourself playing a less exclusive format, try out clockspinning alongside the elocutors.

Deck should be called Rigging the Election.

Please comment my deck http://www.mtgvault.com/sora119/decks/oreo-spirits/

I like that name, but this is also a mill deck. That's why I'm hesitant.

For a name, I like Talk Too Much. It references the whole filibuster idea of the Elocutors and stalling, as well as the fact that in the magic universe milling represents someone basically losing their mind, which can happen when you're listening to someone ramble on for hours. But mainly this is a (very obscure) reference to the AC/DC song Touch Too Much, since judging by your name you're either a fan of theirs or an electrician.

Oh, wow! I really like that name! Yes. My name is derived from the band. They are my favourite!

After your suggestion, I came up with Stall too Much. I think it works better. You?

Yeah, whichever you like best! I like this deck a lot by the way, my friend runs a deck similar to this but I want to show him yours to give him some ideas

I like "The Rumor Mill" kinda goes with what always surrounds elections, and the theme of the deck.

PS: thanks for this deck .. Azor's Elocutors are the type of extra Win condition i've been trying to find for my Black/Blue Mill/Control deck for two weeks.

Name the deck, The Ocean's Grasp since it has some control to keep monsters at bay lol

I think House of Cards would be an excellent choice for the name. It would represent all of the politicians from the House in the American government and the alternate win from milling cards for your opponent.

"doorkeeper-mill with elocutors..."
Says more than most.

If it ever gets tournamental you will need a well-classified name.

Just had a thought you could use savor the moment as a way to build up filibuster counters quickly? Not really in the theme of the deck but it could work

Oh Squandering State! Cause the goverment squanders your cards :)

I'd go with Filibuster for a deck name.

In my honest opinion, I would take out the Murmuring Phantasm's and put in Angelic Walls. Just because they are flying. There are many a time that having not enough flying defenders could mess the Azor's Elocutors ability up.

Have you though of Paradox Haze which makes the elocutor win faster
Chronomantic Escape prevent your opponent from attacking you with the paradox, half the time since it always comes back
Curse of Chains, with paradox, you tap 2 creature on your turn and 2 creature on the oponent turn
Martial will double it's effect, so double detain

ok yeah I just noticed the deck is standard and not modern

lol I am a standard (generally) block constructed player, but a friend asked me to make a deck combining Azor's Elocutors and M14 's Jace, so that's why this time it's not block constructed.

You may want to skew the land count a bit and add in some non-basic lands. Your mana count isn't near 50/50, so you may frequently find yourself drawing plains when you really need blue mana.

After I took your advice, I drew a sample hand a few times and I've notice it worked so much better. Thanks for the tip!

What do you think about it now?

I really liked this deck so I made it. After some play testing I made a couple of changes. I made some changes to the mana and put in 4x Hallowed Fountain, 4× Glacier Falls, and cut the mana total down to 18 total. Then I drppped 1 Martial Law, 1 Azors Elocutors, and added 4x Sphere of Safety. I really enjoy this deck.
