Yeah, it's a ramp into a Golem before you start dropping bombs. I've sideboarded some mana producers and whispersilk cloaks too just to keep them safe when the time comes.

It seems really slow, test hands usually burn out by t2 at the latest. Would benefit from mana producers and 2 for 1 card draw.

KJSJ3 is right this deck wont work consider you start with 6 0mana artifacts and mycosynth golem and you draw every turn a 0mana artifact the earlierst you can play him is turn 5. and you cannot use any of the creatures you have to block cause you need them for synergy means you leave yourself exposed for 5 turns at minimum. hard to make a comeback from that, also like I said 5 turns are the best case... and this only gives you mycosynth he is fairly weak. you still need a game winning card.

Yes definitely sol ring, lotus petal, palladium myr

0

Sol ring and Palladium Myr won't speed things up until he has mycosynth in play. By the time he has mycosynth in play he doesn't need mana accelerants, thus those cards aren't at all useful in this deck unless he puts land in it. Lodestone Golem and Sculpting Steel will not help this deck at all. By the time he finally gets the lodestone golem in to play his enemy has already got plenty of mana. I'm haven't the foggiest idea why you think sculpting steel would be useful when he doesn't have any good win cons in the deck to begin with.

Lotus petal could help a LOT though.

Actually, I thought about it and realized that since you have to sacrifice Lotus Petal, it wouldn't count towards affinity any more, and wouldn't help you get the golem out any faster.

i feel like a darksteel forge would help in the late game. also, if you could add blue mana, you could discard a bombshell card like blightsteel on turn 2 by not playing, then use protomatter powder to sacrifice an artifact and bring colossus from the grave to the field...

1

as is they would not make it faster, they would do nothing at all. As he would have nothing to spend any mana they produce on.

Maybe add mercadian atlas, and font of mythos and mana producing artifacts

0
Posted 18 August 2015 at 19:27

@d3Necromaster The artifact lands would actually make it faster. Given that they are treated as artifacts, not only would you get the mana that they produce, but you'd get a point of affinity, effective making each artifact land tap for 2 mana when dealing with creatures who have affinity for artifacts. Now, once he does reach high levels of affinity, true, he wouldn't have anything to spend it on... but hey, now you have stuff you can pay Mindstatic's mana cost with when they try countering Platinum Emperion.

0
Posted 29 August 2015 at 03:12

From what I see, you through out a bunch of 0 cost artifacts, play a mycosynth golem, which not only has affinity, but gives the rest affinity.( you can play blightsteel colossus the same turn)

1
Posted 01 June 2015 at 04:44

I have to agree, this will never win in it's current build. The theory is nice but as stated above it would take way to long to get Mycosynth Golem out. Any other deck would have to have such a bad turn of event s not to win in 5 or 6 turns or so.

3
Posted 01 June 2015 at 14:27

Yeah maniac is right
For one, you need to draw enough 0 mana artifacts to get mycosynth golem out, and you have to survive for 5 turns brfore dropping blighty. Also that depends on if you draw blighty on turn 6 AFTER opening with 6 0mana artifacts and drawing one every turn. This deck needs alot to go off and really needs some work

I say that B/C running ore then 1 makes it an illegal deck in the only format Sol Ring even legal as a 1 of. Even in casual game staying inside the vintage banned list just makes for a funner experience. I've already stated above that I don't believe this deck can work. Maybe with 1 Sol Ring, 1 Mana Crypt, 1 Mana Vault, 1 Lotus Petal. Assuming Moxen and a Black Lotus are unobtainable.

0
Posted 01 June 2015 at 19:39

Even then - you need a Mycosynth Golem in play in order to play that Sol Ring. But by that time, you don't need a Sol Ring anymore.

0
Posted 02 June 2015 at 11:05

Well no I didn't necessarily mean to play in that order, lotus petal into sol ring into Vault gives you 4 unused mana when casting Crypt will put it to 6 that's 4 leaving 3 artifacts in play drop 2 memnite/ornithopter gives 5 artifacts + 6 = 11 to play the Golem as your 7th card to play on turn 1

It seems that everyone is missing the point of this deck. The whole point is that you cast creatures using affinity. On e you start adding mana producers to the deck, then it is no longer the same idea.

0

The point everyone is making is that you wont get to cast any creatures B/C 9 out 10 times your gonna be dead before you can. Just b/C there's a possibility doesn't make it an awesome deck, it makes it an awesome idea.

Yes, but you wrote a response which helps keeping this on front page. And your complaint has now generated yet another response, adding to the popularity of this deck ("popularity" according to the algorythm that determines hot page). That's how this site works - weak decks, ideas and concepts have actually a better chance making the hot page since they will generate more responses since people will point out the flaws and make tons of suggestions. I am speaking from experience here, the more sophisticated my decks are, the less replies I get.

That's why I recommend ignoring the hot page altogether. I don't understand why it gets so much focus anyway and think it's a mistake of the site owners to make the hot page the default one. Instead it should be either "New" or "Unloved". "Active" and especially "Hot" will get their attention anyway, so don't make them the default view.

Yeah, I'm aware of the catch 22, yet not all front page decks are horrible. This one seems to have been bumped here by deleted comments. If you (or anyone) would like, suggest 2-3 of your decks you would like me to take a look at and drop some comments on and I'll do the same for you. We can see if we can generate some interest in decks we think might deserve attention. If you drop a comment that's even 1/3 as well thought out as what you've done here I'll try to do the same for any deck you suggest.

Note, all my decks are hypothetical and most are proxy only, thus I don't pull punches when it comes to using alpha lands. They are basically thought experiments about exploiting a particular strategy or card to the best of its ability and the price of any of the decks could be cut down to a fraction by easily subbing out the Alpha/Urza lands.

My decks are here: http://www.mtgvault.com/beowulf85/

I've already had 3 front page decks (back when I was active on this site in 2013), but others that people have enjoyed playing that I think are worthy of some attention include:
-Creatureless Blasphemous Act
-Archers Done Right
-Best Overwhelming Stampede
-Overpowered Treefolk

Of course if you comment on any of my less popular decks I'll return the favor. Note, I haven't been updating these decks for about two years so I'm unaware of many of the newest cards that have been released since 2013, if any newer cards could help my decks (which are mainly vintage/legacy legal) I would appreciate it. Of particular interest to update may be my "Fat Fat Fatty" deck, which already made the front page but could always used suggestions for the newest big fat overpowered cards to exploit.

While I appreciate the effort I can only repeat what has been said here already and what I wrote in similar decks in the past: It won't work in the current form! I understand and accept that you won't add any lands, no matter how beneficial, because no lands is what this deck is about. Okay. But then you have to make it work withing that limitation. And here is the problem:

Without Mycosynth Golem, you aren't doing anything, right? You need it's affinity for everyone so you can play the few cards of this deck that can win the game. The problem with that: Mycosynth Golem costs 11! Yes, it has affinity, but without any regular mana source this means you have to have 11 artifacts in play! Now, do the math: You start with 7 cards and draw one each turn, so you'll have 11 by turn 4 or 5 depending on who goes first. However, one of them must be the Golem and one of them must be the card you really want to play like Colossus. That means the earliest you can pull this off would be turn 6. But this assumes:
- that you go first
- that you draw Golem and Finisher
- that you dont draw a second finisher or Golem
- that your opponent doesn't destroy any of your 0-cc-artifacts during those turns (you have to play one each turn, otherwise it gets discarded)

That simply won't happen unless you play against an absolute noob and his all-islands-and-krakens-deck. Note that, in this case, it isn't even a thing of probability. Usually people throw decks together that need, like, 5 different cards in play to work. While it is very unlikely to pull that off, at least, it is possible to do so in turn 3 or 4. However, this one absolutely cannot do anything within the first 5 turns regardless of how you draw!

To make that work you would need card draw since cards is the limiting factor here. But there is no card draw that doesn't require mana to operate in the first place, so this is a dead end, too, unless I am missing an odd card. Even Skullclamp can't get you out of this.

For these reasons I think a landless decks should probably work differently. Something with cards like Elvish Spirit Guides, Chancellor of the Tangle and so on. Jessie once made a deck like this, maybe check that out.

As a doctor my colleagues and i have taken a look at your decks condition and feel we have found somewhat of a solution! We hope you will feel the same. Take a look for yourself and see that adding a few mechanics and straying away from solely relying on affinity helps to make a deck that had no lands much more efficient.

Here are the flaws in it. "Oooo no lands... except I need to lay all these zero drops to play decent creatures. " "oh i guess thats a land then right?" besiiides that point ... whats the chance... with no real creature control other than other creatures... is it that you get 11 0 drops... in a game... think of alllll the times you got 11 lands on the field with no card draw. no mana ramp no deck searches.... think about it.... it has very few odds of winning... even if you drew 7 zero drops in your first hand(who would even keep that hand) thats 4 more turns you have to survive... of just drawing zero drops.. then.... well who knows... a random amount of turns until you get something decent.... lol

whilst the consept is intersteng, the dek does not very good, since u can get mycosynth golem at turn 6 earliest, after which (if he wasnt removed) u can start playing threats at turn 7. that is assuming best possible hand tho, without drawing anything u dont need (2 platinum angls at starting hand, better delay the time by 2 turns)
- may god bless ur'e souls

There is something ot be said for an interesting deck concept. I think the hate also stems from this deck really not being front page worthy. It really looks like he used alternate accounts/bots in order to get enough likes to hit the front page.

If you like the concept of a manaless deck, check out Manaless Dredge. It was a championchip deck back in the day, and if I'm not mistaken one of the cards in it is basically perma banned from most formats at this point. The deck was super broken with no mana, turn 2-3 wins.

My suggestion is to put the Mox opals and if your going non land you need the other moxes and a lotus if not then anything that's a lotus or mox

Another idea is to add any of the kobolds

Hello there everyone.

I have been very busy lately and have been out doing performance magic and so haven't been able to keep on top of all of your comments. To answer a few queries in the comments, I do not use bots to bump up my likes. In fairness I don't even know how this many likes have appeared on the deck! I do have two friends (zakcheese1 and georgecheese1) with accounts. They are not of my own creation but we have shared the ending names due to an ease finding decks between each other.

This deck has received so much hate in the comments and I understand why: this deck sucks. I knew it did when I posted it and I know it now. The intentions weren't to have it hated to the front page, in fact far from it. I posted this on behalf of a friend interested in this deck style and was hoping that there would be enough help available to form a strong deck that he could go out and but. The hate for this deck is understandable but you probably would have been better off with just giving hints to improve it.

If you wanted a good deck to chew through and analyse/ add helpful comments towards, look at some of the 40-odd others that I have posted. This deck was to stir up popularity for other decks and improve this one, however this certainly did not happen.

Thanks to all those who have actually posted useful comments and those that have liked this deck!

aidancheese1.

P.S. Oh yeah 1 final thing. The answer to my rhetorical in the title? ANYONE WHO WANTS TO WIN!??

Lol, best comment. Good attitude. I tried to post a few helpful comments but you're going to have a hard time making this deck competitive without using super expensive cards (mox and lotuses).

Best option is probably to go with artifact lands, that will make a deck like this explosively destructive, but breaks the theme of it being truly landless.

If you want ot swap comments on some decks, I'd rather not look through 40 some odd decks, post a few of your faves here and I'll do the same after I comment on one of your decks.

Thanks Beowulf85. I have 1 deck I'd appreciate if you looked at for me. It's a Minotaur Aggro deck. I don't want to have to spend tons but here it is. I have these already but some other suggestions would be great.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you want this deck to work, I'd seriously just scrap it entirely and build something else.
Just because of how mature you were about all this hate, though, I am now looking into building a manaless affinity deck for you.

On the flip side of things, you can also run only lands! For half price, too!

not gonna lie, I built the basis of this deck when I started playing Magic, and that was several years ago. Only just got round to posting it up. So unless you posted it this up a few years ago, I'm not too sure whether you did or not?...

Modded it a bit. Added 8 artifact lands and made a few tweaks. Breaks your no mana rule, but I think it might work better this way. Sideboard is still up in the air. http://www.mtgvault.com/mrryanthedude/decks/manaless/

uh no way to deal damage plus you need a way to get mana artifacts like black lotus to play colorless artifacts like the sol ring, dynamo core, worn powerstone, and many more

Oponent T1: Play land, pass turn.
YOU T1: Cast your entire hand, pass turn.
Opponent T2: Ratchet bomb, crime-punishment, meltdown, powder keg, or engineered explosives for 0... and those are just T2 answers... there are plenty of T3 as well... i think your deck lacks a viable win con and requires to switch your focus somewhere else to work.

We also have energy flux, kataki and so on..

Awesome! It adds a sense of humor to the game...
...without joke cards!

Dude, I so want to buy a deck like this, 'cos who has a [side] deck to stand a chance against this???
(answer: next to no one, but I think that's implied)

Tried to test, and couldn't even get it to function in casual settings. It's just too slow. Period. This is only viable if you utilize Mana Acceleration, which defies the idea behind the deck. Cool idea, but just not Functional. 1.1/5
