Deck Description

"You may be a very durable one, but what stops my instruments of death from striking through your folly" ~ Annonymous

How to Play

What you want: get an unblockable creature force by smacking Blighted agent or anything with Aqueous form on it and deal big ammounts of poison damage with cards like Unstable Mutation or Vampire's Bite (better yet when both are present ;) )

Removal/counterspells and a litte forced card discard helps keep your foe exposed for the infectious sweeps.

Proliferating dudes such as Throne of Geth help push forward the Progress of Poison you have put on your enemy.

*Note: You can replace thoughtsieze with duress should you wanna lower the total price by about 36$

Ideal Play:
T1: land that produces black mana, cast Thoughtseize to remove any iminent threats to your creature, or any seemingly key pieces to the opponent's strategy.
T2: Play a land that is able to produce blue mana, Cast Blighted Agent.
T3: Play land, Put Unstable mutation on Blighted agent and A vampire's bite if possible. Attack.
T4: Play land, if you didn't play Vampire's Bite turn 3 you can play it now. Attack. Win.

T3 wins are also possible if you have an additional vampires bite or unstable mutation around, and I have had this happen various times in the draw sample hand, where all the cards I needed were already in my hand (and sometimes they were the next cards in line). Plague stinger gives a slight alternative to blighted agent, especially if your opponent lacks the cards to block or deal with flyers. (Good thing there is thought seize to find out right?)

There are other ways to make a T3 or 4 win than the exact one listed. Good thing right? There is less stress on a specific way of doing things. Key is you need to have access to at least 2 damage increasing spells and one of the two mana drops to use it on. I playtested the deck on paper pieces 2 times and it won both games, (against my own heroic deck and jeskai deck) so either that is just pure luck or this deck is worth my time. I will proxy it a.s.a.p.

Deck discussion for Unscrupulous Demise

As I already said, please decide on the theme/direction/flavour you want to go with. Until then all I can do is making suggestions of direct replacements that are improvements regardless what you try to do with it. I'll keep this Modern legal.

* Vampire Nighthawk is strictly better than Deathglaze Cockatrice (by many factors)

* Mirri the Cursed doesn't have intimidate but I think it's mix of abilities is vastly superior to accursed Spirit's.

* Liliana's Specter should replace Blood-Toll Harpy.

* Rakdos Drake is horribly underpowered. We already have 4 Vampire NIghthawks ... if you can afford her, Drana would fit in nicely here.

* Skithiryx is many times better than Scourge Savant, however, he worth about 10 dollars. If you are not going to emphasize on infect, you might as well replace it with Kulrath Knight. Wither is better than infect in a deck that aims for a regular kill and the Knight has flying and a nifty extra ability. In either case, Scourge Savant has to go.

* I hate to say it but Sengir Vampire's days are over. Replacement choices:
- Bloodgift Demon
- Archfiend of Depravity
- Desecration Demon
- Skithiryx
Except Skithiryx, all of them are budget friendly

* Victimize is not Modern legal and the only card that prevents this from being Modern.

* Stupor is strictly better than Mind Rot.

* Chain of Erebos is useless in a deck that only has creatures that want to attack. It wants to be played on something like a creature with defender or vigiliance.

* Contaminated Ground isn't worth the trouble unless you run Swampwalkers or more mana denial/land destruction.

Thanks for the Review, I will implement these suggestions in a bit, and Also decide on the decks theme in the process

*Note to others, the comments above are now null, because the deck has changed drastically since these were written

Cut to modern, cut the Black and then turn it into U/G Infect because that shit is crazy

Huh, I've considered B/G, B/U, but for some reason, I never considered G/U. I can check it out and perhaps build an alternative infect type deck later. Do you have any examples of a G/U infect deck that I can reffer to out of curiosity?

Erm, yes, the infect deck that has been a tier 1 modern deck for the past couple of years, usually in the hands of Tom 'The Boss' Ross-http://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-infect-16996#paper

I'll ignore Gothy and try to stay within the theme :)

* Counterspell is what makes this Legacy instead of Modern. Replace with Mana Leak.

* Mind Sculpt is there because ... ? You need more creatures anyway, so replace them with
- more Crusaders
- Ichor Rats
- Plague Stinger
- Ichorclaw Myr

* Assault Strobe is not a bad card but not worth adding a third colour which your mana base cannot afford anyway. I'd say add more creatures instead, although:

* Blighted Agent needs pump - in blue I would play Unstable Mutation. So maybe replace two of the Strobes with Mutations and 2 with creatures.

* Inexorable Tide => Contagion Clasp

Alternatively the best creature with infect, Glistener Elf

Thank you Puschkin for reviewing this deck, your suggestions were superb! (I particularly liked the Unstable mutation addition)

Gothy, I remember that card! The first deck I tried to build in here (I deleted it a while ago) was a B/G infect with Glistener elf as its centerpiece. I was still very noobish back then so I couldn't put it together properly. For All I know I may try to make that G/U infect deck type you mentioned, but for now I am satisfied with this. It's an interesing idea though, I never really considered G/U infect to begin with

It is the best version of infect currently, best stats and tournament finishes, the link I posted above has a full list and match ups alongside coverage, you can win turn 3 with this version but can win turn 2 by adding mutagenic growth

Alrighty, so do you guys think that this deck is ready for a proxy? I feel like its ready to go, but then again, I always may be overlooking something

Plague Stinger is very solid, its a 2 mana 1/1 flying infecter so it is pretty effective in closing out the game very fast

Update: I just realized that proliferate only puts one more of the kinds of counters already present, so I decided thrummingbird isn't worth it. Instead I added two more Plague Stingers. Also am wondering If I should remove the proliferate artifacts and replace them with card drawing or scrying.

I noticed something kinda funny while watching this deck progress... so I cloned this and modified it.

Three cards to suggest. Dismember, Gitaxian Probe, and Mutagenic Growth.
