I do agree on some of the points you have stated. Although we can, and should, all agree that millions of people play this lovely game called Magic. It is bound to happen eventually that many gamers indeed make a little that is very similar, if not the exact same, type of list. Now when it comes down to how deserves the credit, it is pretty hard to tell who was first with the concept. Basically, if you think you came up with this idea and built it, then you better pilot this list at a PTQ or IQ, etc. quickly so you can claim credit for the list. Which I will admit sucks because many of us build solid ideas, but are not able to make it to these large events. From financial struggles to distance. If you go to my page, you will see a deck called the exact same thing. Abzan Midrange. Built this off an idea I had when KTK was being spoiled along with the fact that I love the Junk archetype. Mine has a little twist I would hope.

As an avid deck builder, "mine has a little twist" is about all you can hope for.
I do deck and card searches before I make a deck on MTGVault...and almost every time someone has made something close to what I would like to make. Sad but true. Even before cards are officially released...and just in the testing phase, even then, those test players are coming up with the first concepts. Sad to think, that by the time a card is officially released, you have pro players and test players who have already had a chance to break the cards/combos.

I mean I can't feel too bad for you currently Jessie, you have a deck on the front page. But yeah on this site sometimes there are incredibly bad decks that get to the front page for no noticeable reason and then there are decks that are very obviously copied from someone else's list. And I think I've made a lot of decks in the past 5 years that deserve a lot more attention than they've gotten, but I ain't even mad any more.

I hear you, friend. Don't feel bad for me, I have had several hot decks.
My point, look at how many comments I have?
Almost 4500 comments!! In one year! !
I may have more comments than even surewhynot, and he has been here as long as you have, if not longer.

I have earned my respect/likes/comments/suggestions.
I have scratched a lot of backs to get my back scratched.

And then we have decks like these. Gets likes...from god knows where!
Either because of trolls or because MTGVault wants Tourney decks on top.

I feel...like you sort of have to earn your respect, you know?
But yeah, don't feel bad for me.
MTGVault has over 80,000 decks.
Out of those 80,000 decks, only 24 of them have made over 100 likes.

Only 1 person, out of all the people on MTGVault have 2 decks that have over 100 likes.
That is me.

And to boast, I would of had 3 or 4 decks make it to over 100 likes if i would of not posted new/fresher decks that removed MY OWN decks from the Hot Page. I have had several decks with 30 and 40 likes, that got removed from the Hot Page because I made new Hot Decks. As of sometime in the last 6 months, MTGVault made it to where you could only have 2 Hot Decks at any one time.

So, I would have 2 Hot decks, make another (new) Hot Deck, and one of the older 2 Hot Decks would be removed.
That is an AWESOME problem to have...getting upset that my Hot Decks were being removed faster than they could gather 100 likes.
So, yeah, don't feel bad for me.

My point...was that I earned it.

I feel you on that Jessie. I'm a big modern player, and while you guys saw my 8-rack modern deck hit the hot list, it was totally unexpected. My real claim to fame is that I have been playing, adapting, and improving the Blue/White/Red control since the original Ravnica block. While my versions have never hit top deck lists here. My current version got posted on StarCityGames list and was just used by 3 pros! I find it kind of upsetting that these pros used literally a mirror-match of my deck and one got 7th! At the same time it's awesome knowing that while they get the credit, I'm the one who actually molded and tweaked it.

Very well balanced! I like your style...

I'd only change a couple of things... ...1st of all, I'd replace that Banishing Light in the sideboard with an extra Utter End... ...2nd of all, you gonna' need 1 more land that could produce white mana... ...I'd use 4 Mystic & 3 Caryatid for the speed of the deck(turn 1-Mystic, turn 2-Courser)... ...I'd take out both Suspension Field from the sideboard & replace them with a 4th Thoughtseize & an extra Hero's Downfall.......

Here are my Abzan decks(if you have the time to take a look & give your thoughts):

I'm not begging for comments on my deck, please just share it around so people can see how broken it is and then email wizards to try to get them to alter this screw up. If you want.

+2 utter end -2 abzan charm, straight removal I feel is more important. +2 wigmate roc -2 elvish mystic not to much ramp needed especially since you have the caryatids. Also if anyone could take a look at my deck I am building for FNM also that would be great! its a little different then most decks you'll see. http://www.mtgvault.com/djnsports05/decks/ub-midrange/

Hey Beave.

If you don't mind, I'm gonna give you some suggestions. If you've read my comments before you probably know, I don't play standard. What you probably don't know is that I'm a Level 3 regional judge that judges standard quite a lot and is an avid deck builder and player. The deck is very solid, should run consistently and do exactly what you want it to. However, with a few changes, it could be the difference between 4th and 1st.

First is main deck. Fleecemane lion in this type of deck is a 3 of if not a 2 of. I would recommend dropping it to 2, then adding a Wingmate Roc and a Whip of Erebos as a 1 of. It just gives you deck more versatility and If you manage to hit that Whip, not only do you have lifeline, but your opponents now need to exile you Siege Rhino so that it doesn't become a problem. The other suggestion I have is your land base. I would remove 1 Temple of Malady and 1 Windswept Heath. I know you don't mind much if your lands come in tapped or not since you're midrange, but you also don't mind pain lands because you'll gain it right back with that advantage. In a mirror-match, (which is bound to happen in standard with this deck) you want to be the midrange who is a tad bit ahead. The Windswept Heath is just because you run 4 and 5 basic lands. Hitting one in a late game with all of your basic lands in hand or on field means you now have a dead land. My Suggestion would be optimally add 2 more Mana Confluence, but if not those than one of each Caves of Koilos and Llanowar Wastes.

Now for sideboard. The Suspension Fields and Banishing Lights are not necessary. Remove them completely, you have enough removal. Also, the third Thoughseize is also very redundant. Finally, remove 1 Nissa. That leaves 5 cards for change. My recommendation would be to add in another Despise, 2 End Hostilities, and 2 Bile Blights.. The Despise replaces the redundant Thoughseize. The 2 end Hostilities are for decks that can keep your board state low and also a good trigger to pull against mirror-matches. Bile Blight is a very versatile kill spell and I've even witnessed one being used on a Sylvan Caryatid of their own to kill 3 caryatids of their own.

Again, I do not play Standard, but I do judge it. I witness all the decks being played against all their respective match ups and find it fun to analyze the decks weaknesses and strengths. You may choose to make these changes or not. It's all up to you.

Thanks for reading!

this deck and my current standard are very similar. check mine out "Abzan Value Creatures" so far out of 11 matches it has only tied twice, and in those ties it had the winning boardstate and a hand full of removal lol. http://www.mtgvault.com/imementomori/decks/abzan-value-creatures/
