Deck Description

So this is a Mono-White pillow-fort deck of sorts, and the win condition is a bit hazy, but it works, so eh. Anyways, so the win-con is to get out your "life gainers" whilst stalling with cards like banisher priest and wall of essence. During this time, the ajani's pridemates should be scaling to absurd levels of strength. To end the game, Put a sunbond on and ajani's pridemate (or any other creature, really) and you can win like that, but you can also place out a couple of angelic accord and gain enough life to trigger them every turn, and basically finish the game of with the angels.

Deck discussion for The Life Gain of A Peasant

Hah, sweet, chill deck :-) Perhaps switch Knight of Obligation with Blind Obedience or Syndic of Tithes?

Blind obedience is a rare, so I can't put it in : / . However, considering white weenies seems to be the way the deck is going, I'll add it in. Thanks for the Input!

Ah yes, my bad! Forgot about the pauper part. Syndic of Tithes should help you out plenty though :-) Glad I could help!

I thought it was forbidden to put more than 5 uncos in the peasant format?

Ah, no idea, I usually play Vintage or Modern...

Huh, not sure about that one. I'll check with the event hoster. (This deck is for competitive by the way)

Checked with the E.H. , it's actually "Peasant". So basically, just no mythic or normal rares. Other than that, you can have any balance of rarity.

oh, based on this : http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtgcom/feature/58 , paragraph DECKBUILDING, it is said that a deck should not contain more than 5 uncommon though.

But maybe the EH has the choice to modify these rules, as there's no real official tournament (well, only two or three towns do organize peasant tournaments here in France)

I tried to make a deck following these rules here : http://www.mtgvault.com/nyarlath/decks/peasant-monowhite-lifegain/

Ok, so that's the official Peasant rules then. The EH described it as Peasant, but without the limitations for rarity. Is there a different format name for that? Or is it just Commons/Uncommons?

Well, personaly, I am not aware of a specific official format for that Kind of deck. Anyway, it doesn't change the fact that i like your deck :)

I love that this deck is 20 dollars and could probably beat my standard deck...

Try building mono green devotion. That'll beat basically any other deck, this one included.

I would recommend replacing syndic of tribes with an Ajani's Sunstriker or any creature with lifelink to get an easy combo with Sunbond.

Sunstriker isn't in standard anymore, so I'll see what other lifelinkers are in standard and see if I can put them in.

You should run God's Willing for a nice win-con to make you Ajani's effective unblockable. Otherwise you're just going to get chump-blocked for turns on end.

Good point, I'll put that in.

I'm thinking of adding one or two lifelinkers to the the deck, however, the only ones at common/uncommon in standard that are vaguely playable in a weenies deck are Boros Mastiff, Hopeful Eidolon, Sungrace Pegasus and Trained Caracal. Anyone think I should add any of them?

Eidolon I'd say cause its better then the Caracal and the mastiff needs battalion

reprisals and/or revoke existence in the sideboard? removal is always a good thing to have as a backup plan

That is a good idea.

You should put a few Rhox Faithmender in there, that will boost the life gain bu a ton.

Serra Avatar and rhox faithmender, Palisade giant and indestructibility... not un beatable but very hard to beat

This deck is white weenies-Giants and angels just don't match the style.

Your win condition is indeed "hazy". No matter how big your Pridemate is, a single regenerator, indestructible creature or something like that blocks him for all eternity. This deck needs a finisher of sorts, I just can't come up with something decent (Type II isn't my cup of tea). Something like Master Warcraft. I don't know if something comparable exists in Type II.

You should think about trading some of the high cost cards like Sunbound or Angelic Accord for more 1-drops like Soul Warden. They're great and not that expensive!

You should check out my deck too! :)
