Deck Description

Is EDH too expensive for you? Wanna play a fun deck that doesn't cost a fortune? Then allow me to introduce you to....Poor Man's EDH. For under $75 you can own a cool, powerful, and fun EDH deck that isn't too limited. 3 color decks normally follow a certain theme, or try to flow around the commander, but what about commanders that aren't that great, but are still cool cards? Treva is one of those legends I've always liked in EDH, her ability can net you big life and she's a dragon to boot! So, in honor of Treva and all the other cool old commanders that aren't so great but we want in EDH, I've made a deck just for her with something that none of your opponents will expect coming! Enjoy!

How to Play

Treva is a old Dragon known for her kind heart, healing magic, and magnificent white scales. Treva has always been more of a pacifist, but due to recent events involving a certain tyrannical elder dragon, Treva has gathered allies on a mission to push back the forces of evil that threaten the multiverse. Now, you can join the Renewer and her army of good to fend off the twisted forces of darkness! Most of your allies come with the vigilance ability, which makes it so they don't have to tap to attack! This kind of unique offense is sure to surprise your opponents, not only forcing them to rethink their gameplan, but also canceling out some of their options, like killing tapped creatures with cards like Royal Assassin and Sunblast Angel. Notice that not all of your creatures have vigilance, but you shouldn't worry, you have ways to give it to them, specifically Brave the Sands and Heliod, God of the Sun. Brave the Sands lets your creatures have vigilance and block additional creatures, and Heliod gives vigilance and adds to the righteous cause by placing tokens out for a bit of mana! The best part of vigilant creatures is that they work great with Stoic Angel, one of your strongest cards! It's a 4 cost 3/4 vigilance flying angel that forces players to only untap one creature during their untap steps, which is fine with you since you don't tap to attack! Alongside your vigilant forces is a collection of powerful dragons, angels, and other unique creatures proud to stand under Treva's banner, all of which bring a strong presence to the board.

Another more unique strategy Treva implies is cycle cards. Cards with cycling are discard after you pay the cost to draw cards. (Or in some cases get certain lands.) These cards aren't just for drawing card however. All of your cycle cards are varied in type, giving you plenty of dual purpose cards for you to utilize while fighting the good fight. Some example of cycle cards are Shoreline Ranger, which can fetch an island for you or give you a 3/4 flier, and Break Asunder, which can destroy an artifact or enchantment or draw a card for you. Your cycle arsenal is sure to keep your opponent guessing at what you'll be doing with your hand, and might even provoke them to waste their discard spells so you can't cycle. This is fine by Treva because it just means her more powerful spells are safe from these discard threats!

Treva knows to win a war, however, you need a strong leader. Treva herself is a 6/6 flier (which is pretty threatening by itself) with a unique ability. When she deals combat damage, you pay a bit of mana and pick a color, then gain life for each permanent of that color! If you find yourself low on life but with a good deal of one color on your board, or staring down a lot of enemies of one certain color, just start swinging with Treva to get a good amount of life back! Another powerful card in your deck is Faith's Reward, a spell Treva herself has used to not only save hher own life, but the lives of many others as well. Faith's Reward brings back all permanents that were put in the graveyard this turn. This kind of powerful spell can save you from a board wipe, or keep your stronger creatures in the fight after someone uses a spell to remove them. Faith's Reward is a valuable and powerful spell, so make sure you absolutely must use it when you do, because once it's gone, you have no way to get it back. The most important thing to remember is to never falter! Your opponents may bring out the nastiest nightmares from across the planes, but Treva is a reliable ally who never leaves a friend hanging, meaning all those terrible monsters can't harm you as long as Treva is around!
